These offensive telemarketers have illegally called my cell phone (it is ILLEGAL in the USA to robo-call cell phones without the owners' consent) every day using multiple numbers with the 619-216-05XX prefix. I have reported them both to the FCC and my cell phone carrier. A web search on yelp.com shows that this solar energy company (A1) has received numerous complaints. They make robo-calls hoping to drum up business and all they accomplish is to drive potential customers away.

Number calls me at least 3 times a day. I answer and nobody is at the other end. However, today I answered and they said they were looking for the homeowner to discuss gas and electric. # called again this evening and once again no body was at the other end.

I have answered the call and had someone talk on the other end. They're some sort of solar scam claiming to either be from SDGE or from the National Energy blah blah blah or from some other energy affiliated system. Despite the fact that I have told them to stop calling, they still call. Sometimes someone is on the other end, other times they just hang up. Either way, it's some sort of scam. Next time they call claiming to be from SDGE, I'm going to try to flip the script on them and ask them questions about my bill...or just yell at them...it really depends on my mood.

The A1 solar spammers are using a lot of numbers with the 216 prefix. We're blocking all 216-0XXXX numbers in the 619 area code since all calls we receive from that number block are just spam calls.

BB is correct - no utility will call and ask you what your utility bill/usage is because they ALREADY KNOW IT. Other utility scam is to call you and tell you that you have a past due bill and you're about to get shut off. They will then try to sell you a prepaid credit card to pay it off. This is all a scam of course.
This is taken off of SDG&E's website:
http://www.sdge.com/business/impersonating-sdge
Scam Alert: Beware Of Utility Imposters
SDG&E has received numerous reports from customers who have been contacted by individuals misrepresenting themselves as utility employees. The imposters threaten to shut off electric and gas service unless payment is made immediately. The impersonators are telling customers to purchase pre-paid cash or credit cards and call another phone number, where fake utility employees then get information from the cards and remove the cash value. The scammers have victimized local businesses as well as residential customers.
How to protect yourself
If you suspect a caller of posing as an SDG&E employee, hang up and call SDG&E?s main customer service line directly at 1-800-411-7343. You should also call SDG&E if you have any doubts about a visitor who shows up at your home or business, claiming to be a representative of SDG&E.
Even if you have a past-due balance that needs to be paid, remember:
SDG&E always provides past-due notices in writing before service is shut off for nonpayment.
SDG&E does not proactively contact customers to get credit card, banking or other financial information over the phone.
You should never provide financial information by telephone unless you initiated the call.
You should contact SDG&E directly at 1-800-411-7343 if you have any questions about resolving an outstanding balance.

No message left, when I called back (using *67 to block my number) the number is disconnected.
| BB 2014-06-04 02:57:33 Unknown |
Called my cell phone claiming to be an employee of SDG&E. Was asking me how much I pay per month for my electric bill. I told her that SDG&E does not call to ask about what you pay per month on your bill. When I told her this, she hung up.
