All those threats from BILL STEVENS and as soon as I made the complaints to the proper authorities - ABSOLUTLEY no more calls and nothing has ever happened.  What a joke!

you need to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.  I also filed complaints with the Texas(my state) and the California (his supposed state) Attorney General and also the Federal Bureau of Investigations.  The more people that do this will begin raising red flags per my telephone conversation with the FTC.

Bill Stevens supposed legal agent for Barrett and Associates called and left messages on my office phone as well as my cell phone saying I owe a debt but not saying to whom or how much.  He said he was giving me the choice of being served at my job or at home and talking about embarrassing me at my job.  I have absolutely no idea what he is talking about and refuse to play his games.

what a freaking scammer.  swore up and down that I had 72 hours to call him and make arrangements to pay a debt he won't even provide documentation for.  Almost 2 weeks later he calls back after I have turned him to the Federal Trade Commission and today both the Californial Attorney General, the Texas Attorney General and also the FBI.  Don't these scam artists ever get that they can't call someone smarter than themselves and get away with it.

If its a valid debt then provide proof of that debt and don't begin by completely breaking the law yourself.

I received a call 1st on my cell phone but didn't have it on me.  I received a call on my work number afterwards (not knowing about the call on my cell phone).  Bill Stevens (Stephens) stated he was a supposed Investigator and was contacting me concerning a returned check.  When I began asking questions is when he became ugly with me.  Suddenly stating that he was trying to keep me from being embarrassed by the Marshalls showing up at my work (really, when did Fed Marshalls begin collecting checks).   He states it was for a payday loan.  However in Texas an internet payday loan (if it was even a real and valid debt - FAST CASH ADVANCE) cannot be collected on as a Returned Check, rather it is nothing more than a bad debt.  These guys have no respect for the FDCPA nor the laws that govern them.  I have reported them to the Federal Trade Commission.  He states he has verified my employment yet all the information he has is either wrong or very limited.  States he is with Barrett & Associates (aka Barrett Asset Management).

A Bill Stevens called my house Wed. afternnoon. He said he was a fraud investigator and was looking for a realtive or associate in my family. He left the investigation number and telephone number where he could be reached. With so many scams around it is hard to say if something is legitate anymore. Why call me and not the person they need to get in touch with? I have read the previous posts and find this man works for a law firm, is a debt collector, and an investigator. Which is he??? If he truly  any of the stated above.

He has called relatives of mine that we do not have contact stating we are being investigated for fraud!!
BILL STEPHENS IS RUDE We do not owe and if we did he still isn't explaining the debt just threatning phone calls and if I am correct he can not call our jobs.

I too have received multiple calls from Bill Stevens with the Law Firm of Barrett and Associates on my cell phone as well as at my place of employment in regard to an old debit that is not mine.  I have asked him several times to NOT call my place of employment but he continues to do so.  He's insistent on setting up payment arrangements for a "settlement" amount which is 1/3 of the actual debt......yadda, yadda, yadda.  He has threatened to send "deputies" and "marshalls" to my place of employment to "serve" me.  JERK!!!

The caller's name is indeed Bill Stevens and we have had several conversations. I told him that he was the 3rd past creditor to try to collect a debt from me and that I didn't have the money to enter into a third agreement. He has kept in contact with me over the past few months to find out when I WILL have the money to pay off this collector. He has never been really "rude" but I do NOT discount that he has been with others. So yes, this is a bill collector. By the way, make sure you indeed STILL owe this debt. What I have just discovered is that the debt he is calling to collect is not even on my credit report. It MAY have been on it in the past, but as of TODAY, 12/20/10, the creditor he is calling about is not on my report. IF I owe them anything, according to my boss (who happens to be an attorney as well), the statute of limitations may have already passed for them to take me to court. Be careful.

Caller who went by the name of Bill Stevens called me threatening to take legal action against me.  Very rude, and even told me to shut up.  Never told me where he was calling from.  These tpye of collectors need to be reported.

Call my phone and got smart with me about one of my relative.  Made it sound like they was investigating my relative.  If that was the case why did they call his mother.

Made it sound like a law firm who were trying to contact a relative of mine I haven't spoken to in years.  Called my home number and my private cell with id being blocked on both calls.  Left voicemail saying they were from Barrett and Associates.  It's too bad their calling me now because if the person who gave my relative credit called before they did give her credit, I would have gladly told them then that the person they were giving credit to was a really bad risk.
