I received a yellow slip on my door step from an Amber at this number with a ref # I didn't call. Does anyone know what it is about?

"Best Windows and Doors" is really one outfit to avoid!  We have never felt more cheated than with them when they installed some new windows.  We chose an excellent brand, they installed very poor ones.   Getting crews here to do the work was difficult.  They did a poor job, and flat out refused to furnish the brand we had ordered.  They are now branching out into "selling" solar things.
   Tried to tell a girl not to call us any more, she seemed shocked, but we are still on their list.  The general manager wound up cussing me out completely at the "end" of the window affair.
   I am very happy to read that BBB has had some very negative things to say about them,

My answering machine recorded the following message:  Caller introduced himself as Mike C. calling on behalf of the anti-global warming coalition (non-profit, of course!) and proceeded to mention free solar power, energy star replacement windows, energy efficient sunrooms, tax-free state, federal and industry rebates, going green, etc. and "How would YOU like to have a $5.00 electric bill"?  I was instructed to call 619-258-6024 and leave my name and number and a provider would contact me.


I recently signed the National Do-Not-Call list but have been receiving more calls now than I did before.

Left a slip on my door too. What a scam. Annoying since I am expecting a package shortly (though knew pretty quickly this had nothing to do with it) but seriously lame of them. Note said something about already being paid for. What do they think they've paid for? Wish I could copy about a million of these and leave a ton of yellow slips all over THEIR place of business. This is just going to stick out in my mind as a company I will not be going with next time I have any window installation needs.

BBB changed the status from 'revoked' to 'not a member'. I don't know why but thanks for noting the change.

On a side note, using caps denotes a yell or strong emphasis. Not sure why you needed them here. The BBB had it listed as revoked and has now changed the status. I wouldn't have pasted the link if I was making things up; which I have to assume is what your thought was.

Got that yellow note too and it looks very "official".  Tip off was that they weren't open on WHAT delivery company it was that missed seeing me.  Sender listed on the note was "BW&D" -- so I guess we from the other listings who that deceiver is.  

My reply to this post is that I checked out the San Diego BBB link and could NOT find where their BBB status had been revoked.  They are NOT members, but it doesn't say anything about a past membership being revoked.  However, they do have 26 complaints listed in a 3 year period -- and imho that seems a lot to me.  There's lots of other reputable contractors in San Diego who install windows that don't have to resort to leaving deceptive notes at one's doorstep.  So if they deceive you at the beginning of the sale, what else will they do to you after you've signed a contract?  Hey, 26 complainers can't all be wrong.

They just called me back as soon as I sent my last post.  Yes, it is Best Windows & Doors.  I told them I have a problem with this deceptive notice they were leaving on people's doorsteps, and wanted to get off the phone, so I did.

I got this yellow notice too.  Now the message says "extension 581" not available. At the tone, you can leave a message.
The phone prefix is from the Santee area, and may include El Cajon also.

I feel silly, I got a yellow slip that my husband gave me for the post office , I when down without checking the slip  out and no package.Waste of time. Just another type of selling something.

This person left a note on my door saying she was trying to deliver a package.  Fine - except that she didn't know my name or address.  She was trying to sell stuff and she's SUPER deceptive trying to look like the post office trying to get ahold of you.  Her name is AMBER.
