My phone bill was running late. It was a courtesy call to remind me to pay before it became a problem. My phone bill is seperate from the other services. It's an auto-call with a recording, no live person.

I got a call from this number claiming to be cox asking me to pay my bill. I say yes, and told them to use the credit card on file that I've always paid with. The lady said she didn't have my card info. This made me suspicious. So I said I wasn't going to give it over the phone and hung up.
Then I called cox back myself from the number on the website. Guess what? They had my card on file and I paid with out a problem.
The first caller should have had access to the same account info, shouldn't they? Unless it was a scam, which it seemed like.
