They're phishing for your information--not sure what they want to do with it, but don't give them anything!

Received call at 12am, saying something about " your account has been locked, contact security by pressing..."
I don't know what number they wanted me to press, because I hung up.
I noticed that they didn't identify what account nor what company they represented.

Prank Call
Just received a call that said Unknown Name and went to answer when the recording came on and said that my Netspend credit card was locked and to press 1.  I knew this was fraud because I have been getting strange alerts on my phone from my credit card the past week in places I have not been and have reported them to Netspend.

I immediately called Netspend who told me they have had a number of calls like this today.  Not sure if Netspend was hacked or the credit card info came from another site.  If they use the bank name for your card then it most likely came from another site.  As a rule now, I use the Netspend "one-time" online credit card option and change my passwords every 30 days. It takes a few minutes more, but I feel a little more protected.

got the same call regarding Netspend and press 1 to reactivate or 2 to hang up.  Did nothing.  After reading the info above, where they are asking for a 16 digit card number & pin...it's definitely got to be a scam from hackers that may have gotten personal info from some of the personal data taken in the recent security problems.  NEVER give out info on your personal or credit card stuff if you  can't talk to a real person and go thru security precautions you set up for any of your own accounts. I tried hitting 0 to see if I could get to a customer service person...no such luck.   by the way, I have NO cards other than a debit card due to bankruptcy.  And, my bank calls me & identifies themselves as my bank, not some 3rd party place, if they have things they need to talk about!  This has to be a SCAM!

I just got same call as all you above about "netspend" I don't have a netspend account but I pressed 1 anyway and entered in a bogus account just to see what it would do, it said it was an invalid account.  Funny cause I don't have netspend account never have and never will.  it comes up as out of San Diego if you listen closely its not even in proper english so its b***s*** scam.

this b***s*** calls and scammers are getting on my nerves.  I wish there really was a way to filter this crap like a global block list that would be great.  Our Country pisses away so much money why can't we do something useful to our people.  The Do not call list is bull cause if they are not part of the national Telemarketing Association then you don't have to follow the law, and even then they don't ever follow up with any complaint made..

Just got a call from this number and said my account was locked and to press one, which I did. Then they asked for my 16 digit number. If my account is locked and is a legitimate situation, then they don't need the full number, only the last four to verify. This is a scam to give them your credit card number. DON'T DO IT AND HANG UP!

Prank Call
Received the call about 30 minutes ago on this number with a digital female voice stating, "This is Netspend.  We regret to inform you that your account has been locked.  Please press '1' to connect with Security"

I hung up and immediately called the *REAL* Netspend to report the phishing attempt and gave them the perpetrator's phone number so they can investigate and pursue legal actions.

Telemarketer
Called me and told me that my account was locked. So I did what they asked and entered my credit card number, pressed 1 to verify, then entered the MMYY (month and year) and pressed 1 to verify. Then I verified my pin, and the system seemed to like the information I entered. I entered a well-known test credit card number, with bogus MMYY and PIN, but they told me that my activation was successful. WOOT! I will be able to use my card soon!  </sarcasm>

There were many grammatical errors in the call voice-bot.

Got the same. Said it was a message from NetSpend that my account had been locked, and asked me to press 1 to speak to the security department. I have no accounts with NetSpend (a prepaid card company), and just hungup.
