On today's date, April 24, 2008 I received a letter purportedly from a credit collector called Access Capital Credit informing me that I owe $124.00 to a company called Universal Pharmacy Group, the telephone number on the lettehead was 619-966-9597.  I called that number and spoke to a rather contentious woman, think her name was Audrey, when I questioned her she became even more argumentative.  I told her I had never ordered any drugs on the internet, she then said well they have your e-mail address and your home address, in fact they did have my e-mail address but had me listed as living in New Hampshire when I live in NJ.  She said if I had any complaints I should go to police headquarters and file a fraud which I intend to do since I am obviously not the only one to be caught up in this scam.

These guys are scams! Do not return their call! Also, the lady who called me sounds like an air head!!!

ur all idiots...they are legal...you gave them your checking info and as such are obligated to complete that transaction BASED ON THE TERMS OF YOUR AND EVERY OTHER BANK IN THE COUNTRY. u signed up, they didnt find your info, u gave it to them. perfectly legal for us to put on your credit. next time dont give your checking info online...furthermore, make sure it clears your bank when you do...otherwise ill be calling :)

We got a notice from this company 619-966-9597 stating we owed $17,XXX.00 and the original lender was Citi Bank.  We had no outstanding bills w/ Citibank anymore, as all debts were settled.  I think they were trying to pull a fast scam.  Scumbags!!

I was dumb enough to make an order with this Universal Pharmacy Group. I should have checked the scam blogs. It's been 13 days with this order with no record of the tracking nummber. They have notified the USPS that a shipment is in "preparation" to be mailed with the same tracking number. Thanks to you, I at least know it is a scam company and not to hold my breath waiting for the much needed meds. (Doctors are trained to dismiss a patient's claim of parasites as "Delusion of Parasites" without doing tests to confirm or deny. Therefore, after extensive research, I found there is a drug which kills internal parasites. For some reason the medical profession will not address the possibility of internal parasites, it's taboo! My doctor wants only to deal with the symptoms and is horrified about dealing with the cause!)
This is how i became a victim of Universal Pharmacy Group!! The money I lost (losing) does not compare to the scam of knowingly defrauding someone with the expected delivery of a cure...
These people should be hunted down like rabid dogs and made to suffer, the Cal. ATTY GEN'L is not the answer, they should be made examples of, the old-fashioned way!!!

A Tom Michaels from Capital Credit called my phone number trying to get a hold of someone else saying that I knew someone he was getting a hold of for some issue. I told him once he had the wrong number and I then told him not to call me again. These dumb nitwits dont know when to stop and don't know how to do their job. I'm filing a formal complaint to them begining today! The number to Him is619.966.9597 ext. 608.

Hi this happened to me last year, and now they are calling me from access capitol credit and they are harassing me mainly by a lady roxy,they are saying i owe them $124.00 now and that if i dont it will go against my credit and she said if it wasnt me that i have to file a id theft at the police dept.how REDICULOUS!! what are you doing about it? please let me know something has to be done about these illegal acts!Thank you! heather_chic19@yahoo.com

Im reporting this to the police dept. pretty soon if access capitol doesnt stop calling me and harassing me about this universal pharmacy crap. #1 you cant legally sell or purchase narcotics over the internet so its obviously a scam, and if roxanne keeps calling me and yelling and hanging up on me ne more I will be filing a harassment against them!! Anyone else dealing with this??????

Same thing happened to me. The collection agency of Access Capitol Credit 619-966-9597 said I owed $124.00 for a membership to Universal Pharmacy Group. No one in this home ordered anything. The birth date, the email address, the bank account number, were not mine. I tried explaining that to the idiot collector but they said all they needed was my name and address.

They told me I had to file a police report before they would remove the debt. How absurd.

I believe Universal Pharmacy Group is involved in illegal practices. I also believe Access Capitol Credit is in collusion with them. Please report your scam from them to the Better Business Bureau and the California Attorney General.

Same thing happened to me and I'm contacting them sending certified letters and forwarding all of the RUDE correspondence via email that I endured with these people to the better business bureau.  Good luck everyone, now I know I'm not the only one trying to be scammed.

The same thing just happened to me today. i got a bill for $124.00 from the Access Capitol Credit and he said I have to pay this bill within 30 days or it will be on my credit. so I dont know if this is a scam or not please someone let me know??

I too had a nearly identical experience.  Same numbers ( 619-966-9594 and 619-966-9593 ), the Mr. Hawthorn on the phone was not the same Mr. Hawthorn who spoke to me on the phone and I got the same exact spiel about the "Membership Fee"

I got a phone call from (619) 966-9594 on February 13, 2008 in the late afternoon (Arizona time).

I got a message from "John Hawthorne" that had a very curt - demanding "You must return my call."

The number that Mr. Hawthorne left on my voicemail was 619-966-9594, although the caller ID reflected 619-966-9593 and the name appeared as "Unavailable."

I returned the phone call and the line was answered by a female who asked my name, I heard typing in the background and then she asked for the name of the person that called me.  She said that she would connect me with "Mr. Hawthorne".  A male picked up the phone and was very obviously not the same person that called me and left me a voicemail message, although he too claimed to be "John Hawthorne".

I was told that I owed money and was in default to the internet pharmacy called "Universal Pharmacy Group."  I was told that I owed a fee of $124.00.  I asked for more details, including what the fee was for and I was told that I was calling a third party and that for privacy reasons they did not have that information.  I inquired further about the company, I assumed that it was a Canadian pharmacy that sold to people in the US.  He said that was not the case and the Universal Pharmacy was in the United States located in San Diego, CA.

He then told me that if I didn't pay him right then and there that it would be added to my credit report as a default.  Being a pharmacy I asked if the fees were related to a prescription for me or someone in my family, and perhaps without divulging confidential information, they could provide a tracking number or delivery confirmation.  It was at that point that I was told that nothing had been sent to me, that the $124.00 was a "Membership Fee" and it needed to be paid because I committed to it.  Turns out that before placing an order at this pharmacy you must pay them for the privilege of ordering for them.  He also offered the company website at http://www.universalpharmacygroup.com

I have never heard of, or done business with any online pharmacy and specifically I haven't interacted with The Universal Pharmacy Group.

The whole thing is obviously a huge scam.  These days I don't think that anyone is legally allowed to sell narcotics and other controlled substances over the internet and on their homepage the most prominent graphic says "OXYCONTIN".

Further, it seems ludicrous to pay an annual fee to "join" a pharmacy.

Suspicous at best - felonious.  On their website it listed a California pharmacy license which I researched online.  I found a disciplinary action against its Pharmacist-in-Charge including the improper procedures for filling narcotic medication (and potentially others).  The pharmacy, the pharmasist nor legal counsel showed up the represent themselves at the hearing.  Do to the aggregious nature of the accusation the case was referred to the Attorney General's Office of California.
