No, it's not true. "Senior Investigator Officer of Criminal Investigation of California"? Seriously? That's an obviously made up title, and not even a very good one. Read the posts above you and notice all the different stories coming from this number. All vaguely similar using obviously phony agencies for names. The lie about "not trying to collect a debt" (and it IS a lie) is an attempt to make you think they don't have to follow the laws about debt collection.

You should report this call to the FBI, your state attorney general and Department Of Justice, FTC & FCC.

Got a call from 619-467-5474 the persons name is Nacy Hall Senior Investigator Officer of Criminal Investigation of California. This was a very scary conversation she said she was not trying to collect a dept but investigating a payday loan.
Criminal action will be taken ageist me and I would have to spend time in jail wile the investigation goes on. Is this true!?!?!?

I have been getting calls from this number (619)467-5474 From The Criminal Investigation Department(so they say) and another from (619)337-2000 claiming they are the Sheriff's Department in San Diego. Can these people be stopped? Is it legal for them to do that?

Some Indian who cannot laugh in English threatening me about a loan payment I know nothing about---totally BOGUS SCUM BAG ! I am calling the State DA about this.

This number is from a cell phone in La Mesa California, not from the Criminal Investigation Dept. like they say.

Today I received the same call and they also told me the same thing because months ago I defaulted on a loan and did direct deposit to my bank, then later closed my account to stop them from withdrawing money out.Anyway I almost payed them an amount of $640 dollars so they could leave me alone. I called my Bankruptcy Attorney and explained. He then advised me that I should'nt let them scare me that they can't do that and are probably previous debt collectors trying to recover their money.My Attorney told me to ignore their calls and not to be scared. Boy did they scare me, I was really nervous and worried.

These people are scanners. I've been getting harassing phone calls. They say they are with Baker and McKenzie law Associates but THEY ARE NOT!! I called that law firm and they said it is a scam and they have been getting tins of calls about this.

I have been getting this call from these people all week finally got ahold of them..they said they were from the Crimial Investigations Dept and I had defaulted on some payday loan and she had all my personal info but would not give me any details them proceeded to tell me I am being investigated for fraud and that I owe $10,000 and the sheriff was going to arrest me and I have to spend 30 days in jail while the investigation goes on...Is this for real..I have no clue about any of this??

They just called at home now they are calling at work... Don't know what they want.. when I call back there is a long pause so I hang up.....

they have called ALL day asking for an emplyee that doesnt even work here anymore wanting money, they wont leave us alone. There MUST be something we can do??????????????????

They call some guy named David tell me to call them on some 609 number I told them I wasn't calling them unless I knew what it was about and they hung up the phone

The are associated with baker & McKenzie law associates. If if you ever do a loan or loan application, surveys online any links online. basically are scammers out trying to get your money. saying they would take you to court if you don't pay them money. just ignore them

what type of bussiness is this number associated with.? name of company and what type of bussiness do they do?
