ANSWERS - CENTURY FIL M  -   Regarding statements on this site

This site was called to our attention by someone in our group.  After reading some of the comments,  we decided to answer.

Century Film  Project 7  has activity and people in 30 states.  It is a project and movement nationwide concerning the current healthcare issue and has over 2000 doctors, businesses, affiliates, personnel and volunteers.  Those affiliated to the project are divided into regions that include multiple states grouped by and based on demographics and not geography.  Those within any given region may elect to propose things that might be of benefit to all concerned or at least try them.

It would not be uncommon for those in any region (including multiple location & states) to arrange trade-outs, discounts, courtesy services or anything else that may help everyone participating on all sides.  Trade, discount and courtesy exchanges have been a part of this nation for centuries.  For those not really tuned into the WORLD news picture,  a great portion of U.S. and other nations are starting to move toward these directions more and more because of world economics.

The main issue involved is what may be perceived as a benefit by some, may not by others.  That does not make either side wrong and certainly doesn?t make it wrong for those it can help or to try it even if others can?t see it helping anyone.  It is entirely up to and between those within the groups and those actually participating to determine such.  It is not up to those who perceive it is of no value to them to therefore determine the outcome for everyone else based on their speculation of what may or may not be.   EXAMPLE:   How can a Chevy lover insist to a Ford lover that he absolutely must never buy a Ford and that he has to buy a Chevy and which side is right?  The Chevy people or the Ford people?  That argument has been going on since our grandparents and it will never be resolved as long as Ford and Chevy work for those who try them and like them.

In this case,  one main concern seems to be around the contact of multiple people in different parts of the country.

Now if arranging relations amongst businesses in different parts of the country is an issue, then any company that does any form of business outside of it's own city limits would be a problem.  That would include all insurance companies, Microsoft, Apple, Coke and Pepsi and even Chevy and Ford etc.

Further, there seems to be a phobia about suggesting an arrangement to more than one person or many people.  That would mean that you should never do the same thing with anyone else that you currently do with one person or there is something wrong.  If we go on this thinking, Microsoft could only supply Windows to ONE person and only one person could have a computer or cell phone or drink Pepsi and all mechanics may never be allowed to have more than one customer because they should not perform the same task for different people.

Our operation has people in 30 states.  On our part, we would never say anyone related to our project or to those in one area that we will not do something for them like we have done in another area just because someone thinks it is not correct to do the same thing for more than one person or one group.  Further, this way of thinking shows selfishness on the part of the complainer that if someone else may benefit other than JUST ONE PERSON as the exclusive one and only, then they don't like it.  Now, what if this rule applies to everyone.  Only one person can have healthcare or doctors can only treat one patient.  Only one person can own a house in your town or state.   Your children cannot learn in school because the teachers would not teach the same class to more than one student.

Another issue is about time of messages or calls.  Maybe the arrangement is being proposed after the individual?s work hours and yours and isn?t that what answering machines are for?  And, why would they need to reach you to talk if you have no interest to begin with or until an interest is determined?  You should be thankful they are not interrupting your time when you are under the vehicle.

If different people received a message from the same person, could that person have been assigned to contact each one because no else had the time?   NOTE:  When a mechanic inquires around town for parts, the same person may talk to numerous suppliers while others keep working on the vehicles.  Should all the parts suppliers say to each other that the same person called each of them therefore he really isn?t a mechanic?  Maybe, the mechanic was just looking for the best supplier?

Finally, the issue seems to be a problem because the same procedure or methods are used in approaching different people.  If a mechanic was arranging for parts from numerous suppliers, wouldn?t he ask them each for the same thing?  It makes common sense that if the same arrangement is being set up for different parts of the group,  the same thing will be said to each.  If this were an issue, then mechanics are guilty because the same parts and procedures are used to repair the same make and model car for the many different people who own that same make and model.  Should the mechanic be scolded for working on a certain make and model using the same manner and techniques he used with others because he already used those same parts and procedures many times before and therefore, no one else can have them or he has to invent a different way to repair the same vehicle because it is not allowed to do it the same way twice?  Furthermore,  the explanation the mechanic would give to one customer would be the same as he gave to everyone else who had the same issue with the same year and make of vehicle.

To conclude, Century consists of a huge network of people and businesses. If any part of them wishes to make or try any mutual arrangement with anyone, they are free to do so.  In the case of this type of situation, certain arrangements with businesses are of interest only if they are located near to enough personnel to make it convenient and logical.  Finally, the personnel involved, themselves, have to make a final acceptance of the business suggested or considered not the person helping to find and coordinate such.

In any such arrangements, any financial dealings concerning anyone affiliated to Century are only between its people.  Other than normal payment for repairs and service, there is no money transacted by anyone with Century and any shop in regards to any such arrangement such as referral fees commissions etc.  Therefore,  it lacks the key element of any financial fear in that there is no money involved between the shop and Century.

Closing Note:   As for a mechanic in business with a fear of money being taken from him somehow,  someone could take the view that because he has to spend money on tools to perform his job, pay the shop rent and the electric and phone bill etc.,  he is being taken advantage of when all he really wanted was to fix vehicles and not support the landlord and utility companies.  Why should he have to pay those vultures any money?   It?s called the cost of doing business.  Further,  when he started the shop, who guaranteed his success with a promise that if it didn?t succeed, he wouldn?t have to spend any money.  Finally,  if you are a Chevy lover,  why waste time trying to even convince the Ford lover.   You are both always going to be right  -  within your own different way of life.  Those here who have chosen negative speculation as a group are offset by others who have had ongoing successful arrangements within our people.  It is simply two opposite groups like Ford and Chevy.

Got the same message, e-mails and after hours phone call. After seeing all these posts I now have to assume this is a scam. That was my first thought but had trouble seeing their angle. Still have trouble seeing the angle but it does not seem fathomable that they could have this same need in so many different areas around the country for the same number of employees. The shop is doing well so no need to take the chance.

We are in southern NH.  We received the same call, on a Sunday night.  He left the name Robert Lowell and todd@centuryfilms as the email, sketchy.  I emailed him to see what kind of response we would get.  We received the same letter as above, twice with 2 different names on it.  It is a scam for sure.  Looking into who we can report it to.  I will post an update if I find out.

Well it is either a scam or he is incredibly stupid.  I closed my shop.  My phone message says the shop is closed.  Period!  More than likely it is an automated machine and a scam. Good luck, from the Missouri.

Same MO - called after hours and left message on our Michigan auto repair answering machine 11/9/11 identical to others.  Hope no one falls for this and some one nails this crook. If he worked as hard at a legal job he could likely not worry about seeing one of his customers in a restaruant. Hope you all have a good day.

I just heard the message left last night at 9:45pm by " Todd" from "Century Film" here in Austin, Tx. The first give away for me was the verbiage, he sounded more like a freakin salesman reading off of a long studied script. Stay away! Thank you Google and 800notes.

Hey, what the.......!!!  I've been getting those phone calls too. Calls my shop after we are closed, So, as to not disturb us during hours. I'm kinda thinking that I'm suppose to be disturbed during hours if I want to do business with people. Keep getting phone calls from 619-534-6769, as soon as I answer my phone, I lose the call. If I try calling it back, It's busy every single time. Amazing how busy they are. If I call Robert Lowell's phone number that was left on my answer machine,  ( with his   L o n g   rambling message), I get a message every time. I sent out a e-mail in response to his call, the e-mail wouldn't go through. And when I google someones phone number, something usually comes up with a business, or something, except these numbers. Nothing comes up. everything I have read on this forum sounds exactly as I have heard it too...... sounds like a scam to me.

I received same call as everyone else at 9:51 pm on Oct.3rd regarding the auto work angle.  I played it for my guys the next morning as an example of something you don't get involved for what I thought were the obvious red flags and both of them thought it was for real and worth checking out and I was dumb for dismissing it!  So I guess we can assume there may be folks out there falling for this.  I wonder if the Feds could shut this guy down using the mail fraud laws with him working this scam accross state lines??  Has anyone called Century Films?
