recorded call from "John" of Emergency Medical Services, but in a very conversational tone; he says someone has paid for a emergency medical alert and even for its shipping to me, but that I need to press 1 to confirm something (my address?) before they can ship.  Same call from the same number a week later, and from 601-423-9076 a couple of weeks after that.

Same scam everyone else is getting with the long recorded message - there is no human on the phone it is a tape recorded message. They call late at night too. They have been calling me just about every day for the better part of a week. Just got another one at 8:30pm.

They claim, in the recording, they need info to ship you medical alert stuff you have ordered.

They just called and hung up when I answered.  Caller I.D. says Name Not Found, but I was curious as to who was calling on a Saturday afternoon.  Losers.

It's a long recording, made to sound like a live person (usually "John"), down to the rustle of paper as he looks for your record while speaking.  They have called us before from several numbers, all of which I have reported to the "Do Not Call" registry.  It's a SCAM - they offer to ship you something already paid for (but which you did not order), in order to get your address, and probably credit card info as well.  I've never pressed 1 at the end in order to talk to a live person, but I've heard the entire recording at least once.  Now I just hang up as soon as I hear it begin.

They have called constantly for months, from various other numbers, so as one number gets shut down, they simply spoof another one.  Really annoying and disruptive.

Those of you who have received a telephone call from someone offering "free" medical alert systems should probably check out my earlier post on the subject at:
http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-941-621-2545#p584100330714138005

I have posted links to actual phone calls from these people recorded by those who received them.  The description that you posted sounds eerily familiar, so you may want to listen and compare the call you received with calls others have received.

---> "Very  Upset !" uncoherently vociferated, "after all it FCC,FTC and  the state that run the 'Do Not Call' registry's fault.Who fault would it be?Who to blame? When a person registered this 'Do Not Call' registry, this service should be DONE RIGHT AWAY!" <---

What the heck do you think the "Do Not Call" registry is?  A physical firewall?  A bank of FCC personnel that screens all your calls for you?  A concrete saferoom?

Publishing your number in the Do Not Call registry doesn't prevent anyone from calling you, and I'll bet you would be even more freaked out than you are now if it did, because that would mean that the gub'mint was monitoring all your phone calls.

What it does do is more akin to what publishing a legal notice in a newspaper does.  (You read all of those real carefully, don't you?)  Anyone with a nefarious purpose can chose to ignore it at their peril.

But if you really want to sign up for a "Do Not Whatever" list that really works, you can sign up for mine.  It's new and guaranteed to be 100% effective.  It is called the "Do not look at me cross-eyed while standing on a crack and spitting on the floor list."

NO ONE who has signed up for my list has EVER been looked at cross-eyed by someone standing on a crack and spitting on the floor.  Can the government "Do Not Call" list make that same statement?

Did the FCC got someone who invented a unit that trace, track and block the TELEMARKERER CALLERS? Did they offer the ENGINEER $50,000 for this project? What happen? What is the purpose for this stupid"DO NOT CALL REGISTRY?" People get very scare that they think the CALLERS  want to call to check if anyone at home so that person can answer the phone to see  that they are home, either way if the home person answer the phone and the caller won't say a word then you know that they are up to something. That why the home people stay home ,watch their house and go to see their doctors .Think about that. That is why home people want to register a gun for protection, after all it FCC,FTC and  the state that run the "Do Not Call" registry's fault.Who fault would it be?Who to blame? When a person registered this "Do Not Call" registry, this service should be DONE RIGHT AWAY!

I keep receiving phone calls from this number 622-259-8471   When you answer it it is someone saying that they are trying to deliver medical supplies....did  not order
After I hung up the phone...I tried to cal the number back, got a a recording saying that the phone was a non working number or that the number had been diconnected.......but low and behold I received another call from that same "number"  I am tired of receiving this type of call and  need to follow what ever procedure is necessary to do so.

I just retrieved a message from our answering machine from 622-259-8471.  The guy who left the message said he is from the shipping department for Emergency Medical Alert and is calling to schedule delivery of your medical alert system.  The system is already paid for.  "There is no cost to you what so ever.  And shipping is paid for too."  The message then said to press 1 to schedule delivery; press 5 to decline delivery.  Then another voice said if you already have a Medical Alert System, please disregard this message.

The caller ID was listed as Unknown Name so I was surprised when a message was left on the answering machine.  If my mother was living alone and had received this call, I am sure she would have fallen for this scam.  I am thankful this website exists for me to research this type of call.

II have been getting calls from this number for months.  They make it sound like you are speaking to a live person.  It is in regards to some type of life line.  They say a family member contacted them for you and your insurance has already paid for it.  NOT TRUE!!!  They are praying on the elderly!!!  How do I get them to stop calling?  You can't call the number back to speak to anyone.  I am on the do not call list but doesn't do any good unless you can speak to someone to tell them!!!  What do I do?

It is a scam. Someone pretends to call from the shipping department from Emergency Medical Alert.  The person that is calling is attempting to get your credit card number.
Under no circumstance give the caller any information. Tell them to stop calling. If they call again call the Attorney General's office with telephone number, name of person who called - usually just "John," and the date and time they called.

This sounds like a live person but is obviously a recording. A voice mail message was left regarding the arrangement of shipment for a medical alert device which we had never ordered was supposedly free. The caller ID was "out of area/unknown name". This is a new number and the same as 601?398?9292, 601?398?9320, and 601?398?9560. I tried calling this number, but it is obviously spoofed because the area code is unassigned.
