The fact that she asked, and it was, I presume, your full name, means that she was trying to verifiy your name.  It could have been for two purposes:  Identity theft and a bill collector.  If it was a bill collector and the bill is greater than five years (depending upon the state you live in) then it is best to just avoid the call in the future.  On the other hand you should definitely be watching for identity theft!

Debt Collector
The recession has caused an increase in phone scams, this one is another example.  Please do not give anyone any credit or checking account information.  Identity theft occurs every 3 minutes in the United States.  I am in college studying to be a cyber cop, to aid in stopping identity thieves, sexual predators, etc.
These offenders target senior citizens on the phone and adolescents online.  I have had people call and claim that I was behind on my car payment or my mortgage, they knew the name of both companies and used the name, demanding a payment.  Tell them you will check your records and call back, if they threaten you, hang up.  Call and talk to your creditors and inform them of the attempted fraud.
Remember Publishers Clearinghouse will never ask for money up front.  Do not call back a foreign accent person on the phone, because it is routed back to Jamaica and 22 minutes cost $150.00 on your phone bill.  There is a PCH scam and a Clearinghouse Publishers scam wanting $200 upfront for money and prizes.
RULE: If anyone online, by mail, or caller on the phone, no matter what information they have, anytime they ask for money, IT IS A SCAM!  One caller even had my social security number, claimed to be an officer, and would come arrest me, if I did not make a payment immediately with them on the phone.  I typed the number into Google, while I told them I had to get my credit card information.  It was a scam and I turned the number over to the FCC.
Thank you and be safe,
Judy

received a series of calls from this number.  Discvonnects when you ask for supervisor or if they are telemarketing.  I called the number - just plays classical music. No message.  How do we get FTC to follow up on this number?

They just asked my wife if I was home; she told them no, and asked to take a message. They didn't leave one.

I also got a call from this number.  The idiot asked for Lynn.  Told him no Lynn here and he said he gets mixed up and he was calling because I have debt.  Started to argue with me when I told him I dont have debt.  I told him not to call this number and I was on "do not call" registry which he said didnt exist because of Bush.  I told him not to call again and he said I sounded sexy.  I hung up.  What a jerk!
