Thank you, Slim.  I actually know all these things and have spent quite a bit of time researching the Do Not Call folks and what they accomplish - very little.  Google "do not call enforcement actions" and see that they occasionally catch someone.  Then the big punishment is a $75,000 fine.  It is nothing and these liars and scammers just go right back into business.  

I would almost rather the Do Not Call list did not exist because it creates false hope.  In actuality, it does very little.

The caller ID shows Value Village T.  

I never pick up the phone because I have no desire to talk with cheaters and scammers.

Too bad the Do Not Call list is such a big joke.

I am getting the same calls with a recording. they do not stop. just got two in five minutes. same numbers as below

It's for the Upward Foundation to collect donations. They send trucks around to haul away your stuff and sell it at thrift stores.

Got a call from 623-848-9729 on 4 jan 2011 and a call from 623-848-3569 on 5 jan 2011. Info for both calls on the caller ID shows the name "Value Village." The "623" area code is the Phoenix AZ area. Tried to call both these numbers to find out why they are calling my number: -- Sometimes the number was busy; -- Sometimes it would ring, but after 3 or 4 rings would disconnect; -- Sometimes it would ring and there would be a series of tones as if an auto-dialer was dialing something, then the line would disconnect.

Same happened to me... I was called 2 days in a row, did not pick up, and when I call back either number, it's 3 rings and then silence.  this is mid-march.

9:32 am, call came in. I answered and could here a call center in the background with a lot of voices. The person that called me stayed silent for aprox 20 seconds, then hung up without saying anything. Have no clue what they wanted. Caller ID said Value Village in Phoenix, AZ.
