I just got the same message.  It came from a local number too.

I just received a text message saying  -   Your internet payday loan my be illegal.  Stop fees & interest.  Call  888-692-3323.      I do not have a payday loan of any kind.

I JUST received the same call from (415) 484-6151 and I harassed the man so badly about this that he ADMITTED that it WAS a SCAM!  I am so angry as he bothered me AT WORK.  I knew it was a scam right away - but couldn't believe he ADMITTED IT!

If you get a call from Dept. of Legal Affairs & Investigators saying that you owe money and the authorities are coming to you TODAY to arrest you - IT'S A SCAM people!

I received a call from a women with a very heavy indian accent, and they say they need a call back immediatly from Dept of Legal affairs investigation are these people real?

Got the the same 3 times from a  asian guy that you couldn't understand very well. We need tp do something about this issue, They aren't going to quite until they are put in jail. They just scare the hell out of people and what are they doing with our personal information? I don't like that at all. I dont know what information they have of mine but, I was reading some of the other posts and wow!! I guess I'm also going to call the Los Angeles police Dept, I did call my local police Dept. I cant understand why the police dept there dont check it out if enough people call to report it.

I have gotten the same phone calls except from 213-261-6494 and 866-464-9547. Each time a man with a foreign accent leaves a message saying I will regret what is going to happen to me. Yesterday I spoke with a woman who said I was going to be MURDERED in 2 hours. I can never get them to tell me what they want. However,they do have all my personal info including my address, bank acct., where I work and ss#. I have turned the info over to my local police and the police in Los Angeles. These people are dangerous and need to be stopped and jailed immediately.

A call just came through today 4-14-12 a man with a asian accent stated he was from the new york state department of legal affairs and investigations saying they had a law suit aggenst me asking me for me ssn my other info thats oviousely private information and i asked him what this was about and he said he doesnt know my case but to call 213-283-8557 to speak to michael Carter please does anyone know anything about this?????? IS IT FORREAL OR A SCAM????

Called me too and at work. When I talked to them this evening they had my ss and all my bank account info. its a scam. I called the police and when they showed I made a report and They advised me to call the bank and the credit bureaus so they can moniter....And after I got into my bank account online and my security on my computer popped up saying the security on the site for this account is being tampered....freaking out and calling the bank pronto in the morning

I received a message from a California number.  It was 818-337-3042 and from a man with a heavy accent who called me by name and said he was a Mark Williams.  Never heard from them in my life before.  They called me only once so far and that was yesterday but mentioned something about attorneys and my attorney and if they didn't hear back from me than "good luck".  I tried numerous times yesterday calling back and only got a woman with a heavy type accent and it was only stating that they were the Dept. of Legal Affairs and Investigations.  It was a mailbox and it was full all day long?!  Crazy!  I deal with my 100% disability from the military which is ptsd along with other things and this is the "last" type of phone call I need!  If you receive any calls from the above mentioned number I just am warning folks as well!  Thanks.  I live in Ohio and so trying to call California back all day with them being 3 hours behind me I would have thought they would have checked that "full" mailbox at some point and allow me to get through if it was that important!

I received tgen phone calls today January 16,2012 from some  person with an accent. He said my name and social security number was involved in a lawsuit. I tried to ask him for more information but he told me to call 818-337-3042 and speak to his boss Michael Carter. I tried to call the number  and a woman said the voice mail was full. I am so scared.

This phone number has been calling every day every 15 minutes. They would hang up when i answer the phone. it does not give a name of the company. when you call back it says this is a telemarketing company if you would like to stop getting calls from this number please press one. the only way we got this number was by calling the phone company & they had to put a tracer on so we could get this number to report it. please have this number blocked from 314-960-6825 forever.thanks

These people calling your cell phone? Just do what I did: Save the number in your contacts under 'Do Not Answer' or 'Scammer' or some such thing. Set their ring tone to 'no ring'. Let them call all they want. Eventually they will stop calling. Do the same for any other annoying telemarketers/scammers.

caller was michael carter about short term loan not paid. very rude and threatening. lost $545 to these jerks. they are STILL ccalling. filed with police.

A man with a strong accent calls me several numbers over the past couple of months stating that I have committed a criminal internet crime against a payday loan company. Each time I have asked them to send me proof of the loan. Then he becomes very rude and proceeds with telling me if I don't resolve this matter they will have the police come to my home and arrest me. After noticing a charge on my bank statement, I called the company to refund my money because I did not authorize a loan with the company nor did they deposit any money into my account. The man was very upset and stated that I would be taken to court for this. I told him so you are saying that you are going to take me to court for money I never received. I informed him that would be okay because I do keep all of my bank statement and can show proof of any money that has gone into my account. These people call?s me at work and my cell phone. The calls come from 201-549-8052, 626-384-3265, 904-410-8149 and 777-777-7777 all being the same voice accept the one time when a woman called and still with a very heavy accent. Since then I have made a report with the Federal Trade Commission and has also request copies of my credit report.

iv had the same issue , the guy that called me was named David Clark. hew said hewas going to call my friends and job and tell them of how horrable of a peson i was. and he would have the authorities come to my job and home. i have a friend who is an attorney,he had called the number back and told the guy he was my attorney and this guy David asked for his bar number. my friend had told this guy he was on the line with the FBI as soon as he said that the guy called him a american w***e and hung up

hello this guy named michael keeps calling my prepaid cellphone and leaving voice messages. he has a thick indian accent and says i must call him back or have an attorney call him back. i am sick of being harassed. he is wasting my cell phone minutes. i have blocked the # from my phone but somehow he gets thru to my voicemail.

I received them too. call me. now they send me e-mail too.
how can i do them. it it same story. i own that money......i do not understand. when they speak like machine.

I got the same call started yesturday. They gave me my social security number but I didnt tell them that it was correct. Told me I was going to be arrested & wanted my lawyers number. Something about "cash advance " on a illegal account, I couldnt even understand what the hell the woman was actually saying. The first 3 times she called me she said her name was LISA BROWN, then I called back & she said her name was MICHELLE BROWN. I started to say she was absolutley nuts, when she said quit playing with me & hung up. She answered the phone by saying Internal affairs. Said that I would go to jail. She even went as far as knowing where I worked, my email address. I dont know who these people are but they need to be stopped. I plan on changing my cell number tomorrow.

I am reportng this number!  They have called me 4 times today; twice at work and twice on my cell.  I have blocked them from my cell but don't think I can block them from work phone. I will be calling the police!

Make sure its actually your ssn.  They have been calling me for a month and left this stupid message saying if I didn't call back with my attorneys info there was nothing else they could do and best of luck to me.  What is that?  I called about 10 times each time getting disconnected.  Twice I got thru and all they kept saying was they were the dept of ?? and what was my attorneys info.  Finally they said is your ssn_ which it was close but not mine.  The lady said oh my oh my gosh and we were disconnected again.  Needless to say I didnt call back.  These calls are long distance, I have not received anything in the mail or an email and pretty sure do not owe any outstanding payday loans so..... Best of luck to them.

YEs, these people are NUTS and Annoying!!! SCAM! 6 calls on Thanksgiving day to my cell....and when I answer, they hang up. If I dont answer, they leave a nasty message!!!!!!!!

They call me 10 times a day and leave nasty messages. I call back and no one answers. I am so sick of it! It has to be a scam!!!!!

They are not any debt collection Agency or any Law Firm or Attorney or anybody, they are just Scam!!!!
These criminals can call from many different numbers. So don't get scared to these criminals. File a complain at FTC and let our Law enforcement inform about these with the numbers they are calling from. These criminals should be punished.........

These people are absolutely 100% scam!! They have middle easter or Indian thick accent. Don't get scared about their threat. Just hang up, and take the phone number they called. File a complain with Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Report it to the FBI, Report it to the Secret Service and all the law enforcement agency you know of. same indian dude call my husband and i 4 times today! they wouldnt give us any information and wanted our lawers # we did not give them any info and the more we asked question the more the guys would became defenseive. in the end the guy hung up on us and told us good luck. What professional thats looking for money would just hang up on you and not ask you to make a payment!!

I received a call from this 626-384-3265, a indian man with a heavy accent.  First, an indian woman called and said she is from a collection agency.  The man cursed me out and hung up the phone.  I called back several times and a women said they were from the Department of Human Rights & Fraud Investigations.  Please beware.

I received this call yesterday and he could not pronounce my name correctly when he left me a voice message.  626-384-3265.
