they called saying they are going to take me to court this is a 10 year old debt. I dont know what to do can someone Help!

I received a call last week from P&C..actually they had a processor call first to tell me they would be sending me time sensitive documents and wanted to know when I would be home. I called them back and they gave me a number to call with reference #. I called..it was P&C..they then proceeded to scare the living b Jesus out of me? this guy..Dean..talked so fast I could only get pieces of it..like..demand payment of 7,000...mess with my income tax..old debt. from visa card....I cut a deal which compromised me financially ..gave my card number and all..but it felt wrong to me. Payment was to be deducted on 26 of this mth. I called him this morning telling him I needed some info on the debt. as I really had no idea who I owed the money to and furthermore did not want anyone else calling me for the same thing.. I am sure at some time I did owe the money and very willing to make it right now..but this felt wrong and I was horrified I gave out my info. So..I googled them and found all this info. I called him about 10 mins. Ago..told him I was recording the conversation and he went crazy. Telling me I backed out of the deal and was gonna pay for it..or something like that. He would not let me talk an I tried I just kept talking over him saying I needed a debt validation letter in the mail..he asked me who told me to record phone conversation.. I said my cousin she's a lawyer..and that she is . He did say he is not a lawyer or a debt collector... Then who the heck does he work for ? I am a tad shaken up....yikes ! Very unprofessional

Oh, just out of curiosity, anybody want to post their "reference #?" I'd be interested to see if they're even using different numbers. My last one was 120649 but I don't remember what I did with my first one.

They've been hitting me with this, too. I had some identity theft issues over the last year (although my credit is so terrible, they couldn't open any accounts! LOL) and now these people. I used to be a bill collector years ago and I know FDCPA and the collection laws in TX. At first I figured it was something for my ex-husband until I started researching. I like to mess with collectors, so when they started throwing all that legal BS at me, I said, "Fine. You have my home address. I am home every day after 3:30. Don't show up after 10, but that's where your process server can find me. You can tell him he's welcome any day." Of course, nobody showed up. They called my job yesterday and today (I work in a public school) and I tried calling back a toll-free call yesterday but always got a fast busy. The number they left today is long distance and I am NOT calling from any of my personal phones and can't use my work phone. They called my personal cell a few months ago and I told them they had a wrong number, that it was a work cell and they must be looking for the person who had it before me. Amazingly, they never called back. A real, legit collector wouldn't give up so easily! ;-)

Don't let these idiots stress you out. Monitor your credit and just hang up on them. You are in control of your phone - remember that. Hang up, hang up, hang up. Or get a hand-held air horn like I do. ;-)

What did your Attorney General say?  Mine said they would look into it.  I hope enough people complain about them that they arrest them all.

I am so sorry this it happening to her.  It is scary even when you know it is not true!  I really wish I knew how to stop them!!  They are horrible people.

Yes. My NC attorney generals office sent me a copy of a letter they sent to them on my behalf. It has their address listed as 3380 Flaire Dr Ste 220 Elmonte CA 91731. They basically told them to leave me alone. I would love to be in on a law suite. These people are evil! Can you imagine doing this to people for a living?!!!

This is the same number that called me. I returned the call and they harassed me to tears! I ended up hanging up on them. Please read my comment above.

I am with you on the lawsuit! They called and harassed me so badly it brought tears to my eyes. When she wouldn't give me her name I told her that I was afraid this was a scam. She started screaming at me and told me that I had now committed defamation of character and that she would be happy to add this to my list of charges and she would see me in court. She talked so fast and was so mean, I still don't know how much money she was trying to collect. She said something about my mortgage and losing my house and coming to my property..... very scary. I hung up on her and called the NC Attorney General's office. They were very nice but said unfortunately it was probably a scam that they could do nothing about. Today I got a letter from them with a copy of a letter they sent to P&C telling them to basically leave me alone. I still don't know if this was a scam or not, but it is a real company who harasses people to no end!

This has been happening to my Mom, who is very sick and just lost her daughter/my sister.  They have threatened her and everything.  Said they were gonna mail her a summons.  JOKE....you don't mail summons they have to be delivered by the Sheriff's office where you live.  She has cried and everything over this and I told her not to worry that it's just a scam.  These people need to get a real job and leave innocent people alone.  We have pd all of her bills and she no longer has any credit cards.

I also got calls from this "company".  They also called my husband and my husband's work!!!  Which is totally illegal since it is supposedly my debt!  The scary thing is although we know it is a scam and wouldn't further talk to these "samantha stevens" person, how many don't and pay them?  
I called them on how illegal it was and to stop calling and that I was turning them into the FTC and the Illinois Attorney General.  The thing is there is so little information on them that none of us can get together and sue them!!  
Does anyone know their actual address or anything about them other than a name or phone number?  I would love for all of us to sue them and stop this non-sense!!!!
I got the calls from 424-246-6103.  It must be  burner phone because after i told them how illegal it was, I called back and it was no connected.  I just called them privately today and the phone is back on.

They spoke with my boss first. I got the same thing said to me. I also had my identity stolen years ago. They called me twice more after that and I haven't heard anything since. My bank credited me back the money I gave them and I changed my card info. They said I owed $5800 on a City Card but would take $2600 or half OR  10% of the settlement amount. I gave them no where near any of those amounts. It really freaked me out. Hopefully, they won't give my bank any trouble when it goes to get the $200 I gave them back.

*Update* Somehow they knew who my boss was too.  He received a call shortly after I hung up on them.

This is ridiculous

Same thing happened to me today.  They called referencing a civil document that was "time sensitive" and that I needed to call back with my ref#.  

So, not knowing who was so mysterious on the phone....I called back.  The woman who answered immediately began reading me some legal BS about having 15 years to collect the money.  They said I had an old Citi bank account that I never paid...owed $3800ish and $2400 in interest.  The woman was very rude, and interrupted me anytime I spoke....bascially telling me this is my debt and that I'm lucky I already own property because my credit is going to take a 200 point hit.  I hung up as she transferred me to who-knows-where....and got another call 10 mins later(which I didnt answer).

Funny part is that I've had my indentity stolen before so I have been watching my credit reports for years.  So it wasn't a big surprise to me when I looked at me report to see that I never had the account they described.

I guess its safe to say that this is a scam....but a very scary one at that.  I see others have wrote about them inquiring on them with the credit bureaus....if thats the case, these people have to be stopped!

Does anyone know the best course of action to really stick it these people?  It needs to be done.

These people from P & C Capital Group called my work demanding an address to serve me papers.  They spoke with my boss who told them she couldn't give them this information.  So, they left a number and ref number for me to call them at. I had no idea what this was about so I called the number.  Spoke to a man who wouldn't give me any info unless I was an attorney or the person named. I had to verify who I was before he would give me info. This man was rude and would not let me off the phone. Said I owed on a credit card I don't even have and unless I gave him half or 10% of the owed amount legal action would happen. I always try to do the right thing so I gave him what I could afford which was no where near what they actually wanted. Said all that it would do was postpone legal action until the following Friday and I needed half of the owed amount. After speaking to some friends and researching this group online I was advised to get my money back or stop payment. Filed a claim with my bank to get money back and have not taken anymore calls. I called this company back to see if the payment could be canceled which the rude lady told me it couldn't and if I did anything at my bank to stop payment it would "put my account into another category which would go to the district attorney office." I didn't know my rights and they terrified me with legal action. Is there any truth to any of this? Idk where to go from here. The number I was given to call was 18888375340.

I received the same phone call on February 20, 2014 from "Sabrina" or Ms. Stevens as she wanted to be called! "Little Miss Attitude" said the same exact words to me.  She also gave me a reference number and the same phone number 626-537-2297. She is nothing but a SCAMMER and she better not call me again!!!

This Scott Taylor & Samantha Stevens are manipulating the system at the highest degree.  What she is doing is totally illegal and will be reported to the Attorney General's office and the FCC. A gentleman by the name of Scott Taylor called and left a message for me. They left a message stating that I would need to have council represent me and the call was in regards to my property at my address number.  They are being completely fraudulent!   My gosh how far do they have to go to collect a 12 yr old debt. If anyone has experienced familiar conversations with this "Bewitched" Samantha Stevens character or Scott Taylor or anyone representing this "bill collector organization"  I would love to file a class action lawsuit. This type of shady is just NOT right!

I recvd a call from a private # this girl told me she will serve me with papers  in my house  and gave me a 1888-837-9840 to  call and get more information. Spoke to a jennifer who was very rude and ask me to pay or I would get serve with a law sue. She was so rude and races. She said  "u work at del taco so go make tacos and if you don't want to pay go away from our country" which I answer "lady get your facts right I'm a US citizen this is my country"she hunged up on me

Parents received a called from P&C Capital Group stating a process server was coming out to their home to serve them regarding "my" so-called debt from 1995!  When I called to speak to them they would not give me any information regarding the debt, only that if I did not pay it right then they would see me in court.  Extremely nasty people and as we all know, or should know, NEVER give credit card info, ssn info to a company who is asking for $$$$ but will not discuss anything regarding the debt or give you any information.  Then I asked for their address and Ms. Taylor (she claims that is her name) gave me an address 111 MIdway Drive Dallas TX 73167-guess what, that zip code is for Oklahoma City! The city 1-888-837-9840 is the number they gave. I saw on the other post that P&C had inquired on their credit reports and sure enough on 12/27/2013 they inquired on mine as well!  I called the Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs here in GA at 404-651-8600 to issue a complaint!!! EVERYONE BEWARE!!!

****UPDATE**** I verified I have ZERO collections on my credit report, but this company is listed as making inquiries starting 12/27/13. I did not apply for credit either recently either. They do not have my current address. The address identification number on the report refers to an old address I haven't used in many years.

I received a phone call today from someone named "Sabrina" (or "Little Miss Attitude" as I affectionately call her). I usually don't answer private calls, but my curiosity got the better of me this time. The initial call was from a private number, but I didn't answer before it went to voicemail. Little Miss Attitude left me a message telling me that they were contracted to serve me with legal documents at my residence or place of business and wanted to know if I would available between 12 and 2pm tomorrow to receive them. "I would suggest that you call us no later than 24 hours or we will deem this information correct and be forced to pursue the file". She also gave a reference number and (626) 537-2297 as the number to call. She also obnoxiously wished me a "good day, Mrs. XXXXXXXX". I'm not a Mrs. and never have been. I will not be calling them back, although I wish I could get further information, so I can file an official complaint against them. They usually end up calling and harassing my mom, too. She has health issues and when they mess with her, it really upsets me. I DO NOT have anything in collections. I have noticed that I have had people contact me regarding debts I've previously paid, and they are trying to collect on them again.

---I have an attorney for this sort of b***s*** since even if they were legit half these morons violate the TCPA, FDCPA, FCRA and all sorts of other laws. I sued one debt collector and won and I've sent cease and desist orders to about 10 and they all stopped (except one that's lucky I didn't sue them. They stopped after that).

P.S. You can also sue spammers. Most states allow it if fraud is involved. Like in my  state they have to have ADV on the subject line and the opt out link has to actually work. CANSPAM actually allows the suits because they fall under the fraud clause. Look up the danhatesspam website for more info.

As for PNC they were very rude, wouldn't give anything in writing and wouldn't provide their address. If they happen to be real or a subsidiary of a real company they're getting sued.

A bill of sale does NOT equate to proof that you owe the debt to them.  They're blowing smoke, trying to scare you.  Per the FDCPA, you should NOT pay any caller who refuses to MAIL a debt validation letter showing you owe this debt and that they can legally collect said debt.  Please do report them to the FTC, FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Also read Tamianth's post above - lots of information on this scam.
