This number, showing as "California call" calls every day.  If we answer, they hang up.  Really frustrating!

This number keeps calling ALL THE TIME! Saving it's an energy savings co. Please stop it!

Weird. We just got a call from this number.  I said, "Hello."  There was a short but unnatural pause and then a woman's voice said, "Hello, may I speak to Keeley's mom, please?" in a robotic tone, as if she was reading from a script.  I said, "You have the wrong number."  Another pause, and then she hung up.  I said to my wife that it was a strange call and it seemed obviously some sort of telemarketing effort, or other strange scripted call. I didn't understand asking for the parent of a child's name.  My wife said she has received mail for a Keeley Smith, which is odd. We have lived here seven years. The family that lived here before us lived here 10 years and they had no child named Keeley either, nor was their last name Smith.  I called back the number, twice.  The call would not go through.  Googled it and landed here.

The Caller ID info may say 626-565-5555 but that is **NOT** the number that the calls are originating from. I just tried calling them back and got the "The number you have called is not in service..." recording. They've obviously spoofed the Caller ID info. Definitely not legit- beware.

Repeat, unwanted calls from this number to my home phone.

Called 1/11/12 @ 11AM.  Didn't answer since I didn't recognize number.  They hung up when the answering machine picked up.  Caller ID said CALIFORNIA.

This number calls every day,  multiple times a day.  There is never anyone on the other end.  This is bordering on harrassment.

My son's middle name is the same as my husband's first name. On at least one pre-college mailing list they had it down as my son's first name, too. When they would call about him needing test help I'd always say "he took the SAT in 1982 - don't think he's planning to do it again"
They always hung up sounding confused...

I have a kiddo that is a jr in HS, so I am assumming that the calls I've been getting are the same as the people above have mentioned. Number on caller ID dozens of times, but never leave a message or seem to hang up when I answer. I remember getting very similar calls offering test prep when my oldest was in HS. Crazy scammers.
btw - when you call the number back it says it's not a valid number (so even wonder if filing a DNC complaint will even help)

I just got a call from this number,
I answered and then a lady asked "Can i speak to the parents of Kelsey"
Which is me...
I said "no, im sorry their unavailable right now, can i ask who's calling?"
She said "I'll call back later" And then hung up.
This was really weird to me because its an area code im unfamiliar with, and how do they know my name?!

Keep calling, went I answer nobody will answer or identfy who calling, when I call back no answer or busy. When I try to identfy by reverse search- no results, can any ID this number, company or individual

They called me today and asked for Julie's parents. I told her that I was Julie and asked how I could help her. She said that she needed to speak to one of my parents about SAT prep materials and I cut her off by informing her that I already had two Masters Degrees and that I had no need for SAT prep materials! She then mumbled something and hung up! Its amazing!

UPDATE: They called back from another number, so I pretended to be my mother. The woman had a very fishy tone. She did exactly what you said, knowing "Paige"'s grade and all about the SATs. She asked if I wanted "Paige" to get more help. I told her, in a confident tone, "No, she's already getting help for the SATs. I don't really think she needs anything else." And she says in an extremely sly tone, "I'll make a note of that. Bye, Paige." and hangs up! I swear I got chills. There's definitely something up with this.

The exact same thing just happened to me! I was home alone when the house phone rang. When I answered, the woman asked for either of my parents, referring to them as "Paige's parents". First of all, I want to know how she knew my name and why she was saying it like she knew me personally. I immediately had a bad feeling. When I told her that they weren't available, she said, "I'll call back later," so I quickly said, "Wait, may I ask who's calling?" I don't remember her name, it was something strange. When I asked if I could take a message, she said "no", that she would "Call back at a later time" and then hung up before I could respond. It was definitely an alarming conversation.

First time they called today, nobody said anything.  Then got the call in the evening and asked for the parents of my son.  This young girl with an attitude (probably from being chewed out all day) said they were the College Preparation something.  When I asked her what they were (meaning, what are they) she just repeated it.  When I asked again, trying to find out exactly who they are and what they wanted, she spoke to me like I was suppose to know what they were.  Then she said I was "frigging rude" and hung up.

I get a lot of spam emails because my daughter filled out some paperwork at school as an incoming freshman. Also in Wisconsin, because of the Wisconsin Covenant program, a lot of kids fill out paperwork with their info, also as freshman. My son just took the ASVAB in October (all the juniors here do, it's not optional) and h>-e's already receiving junk mail in his name. I remember after I took the ASVAB, a recruiter called my house and my mom told him off...I had no interest in the military and they used my phone number off my test info to call. (That was a long time ago, and I don't know if they still ask for phone numbers on the info, but maybe. Seems like email and physical address for sure.) I guess what bothers me most about it is that info coming out of the school is being sold to unscrupulous companies and we have to deal with it. >:-(

Someone from this number calls almost once daily. I use caller ID to screen which calls I pick up, but when the call goes to voice mail, they do not leave any message, so it can't be someone I know, or anything important.  I wish they'd stop calling.

Please tell people do not call me

They keep calling me day and night. If I don't awnser it they dont leave a message. If I awnser they hang up immediatly. One time I picked up they ask for the parents of Van something(forget the last name), I told them they have the wrong number ad was going to ask them to stop calling, but they immediatly hung up.

This number has called me constantly over the last few weeks, but never leave a message when the call goes unanswered. Today I decided to answer it, and they asked for "The parent of____________", with my minor daughter's name. When I asked who was calling, they hung up. I went straight to donotcall.com and filed a complaint. This is the website that the FTC has set up to handle complaints about telemarketers.

Well the very first call, they were selling the SAT stuff. They got my son's info from something he saw at school. He thought it would be a good idea to get any extra help he could. A number of his friend have also done the same. We did buy one of the packages.. It is almost like the computer that is dialing everyone has not removed us from the phone list. When we answer now, the same as everyone else a brief pause, then they hang up. So parents check with your kids, they or someone they know gave all of there information. Either from an ad at school or online. The ad we responded to was from a state edu webpage which had there paid ad on it. For those that don't have kids, they are prob just fishing for more folks to peddle there stuff to. had I known that talking or signing to there ad would result in all of these phone calls, we would have never signed up. Hopefully this helps...

They keep calling but no one is on the other end. When I try to call the number it just rings busy.

This number keeps calling me day and night day after day.  I finally decided to run and pick it up and they hung up on me.  then I picked it up again another day, they told me they had the wrong number!  What  is going on I am getting really frustrated with this and want it to stop!!!!!!!!!!

I also have been experiencing the same as stated above.  I have submitted a complaint to the Federal Trade Commision I suggest you do the same.  As long as you are registered on the "National Do Not Call Registry"  Your complaint can be investigated.  I Highly encouage each and everyone of you do take this same step.  Someone out there is trying to scam "Parent's".
