Got this call today, didn't answer it.  Called my BOA and they weren't trying to reach me, and they don't recognize the number.

They called me from 626-666-2780 and left a voicemail saying I had a fraud activity, even mentioned the last 4 digits of my account and saying to call 877-887-8935. I called the number which claimed to be BoA's fraud dept. and they wanted the account info or my Social Security Number. I hung up and called BoA's fraud line (the one on BoA's website) to confirm they had called me (suspecting a scam) and BoA confirmed the call was a scam.

Yes, it IS Bank of America.
It's the Fraud department's number.
They didn't ask me for any really personal questions where I would feel uncomfortable.
They called me to verify checks that are going out of my account.
When I saw the checks they called about by logging on to my online banking, I could see exactly why they called to verify: I was in a hurry and the signature looked completely different from my other checks.

It is completely legit.

It IS a legit number. The regular customer service department would not know this number, because it is the fraud department's display number when they call out to customers.

Bank of America does call for verification of checks that come down for review. The checks are either of large amount or there are enough irregularities on the checks to trigger them to contact the customer.

No it's not...I just called the fraud dept to report this number They have received other calls about this number.

I had just spoken with Bank of America. Then I got a call back from this number and it was the representative I had just spoken to.

ive gotten calls since march for some maria person.ive told them this is not her # but they keep calling. i told them to take me off the list too but im still getting calls.

someone has called me for months asking for richard duke they call me all the freakin time. i told them this wasnt his phone please take me off the list. they said ok we will.  i have gotten numerous calls since then from the same people and when you call back its a busy tone. today they actually hung up on me cause i got irrate with them but do you blame me OMG
