Don't let them scare you, tell them that section 401 of the us federal law prohibits them from harassing you and if you have thier address, send them a sieze and disissit letter which prohibits them from ever contacting you again, and if this doesn't work, call you local police department and tell them how they have threaten you. Let law enforcement deal with them. all these company did was buy your info and are trying to collect a debt you never incurred with them. They have absolutely no legal stading on this matter. tell them you will only deal with the original creditor. I can even help you with the letter, free of charge, they pissed me off and I reported them to my local authorities but it takes multiple reports before they get shut down.

If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):
1. The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.
2. Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone. And if the crooks claim to be law enforcement or lawyers, officers of the court or bankers, be sure to include that information in your report.
3. File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone. Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.
4. File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.wvago.gov
5. File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)
By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:

Scam alert: Bogus debt collectors
By Leslie McFadden ? Bankrate.com
Monday, Aug. 3
Posted 2 p.m.
Bankrate reporter Leslie McFadden contributed this entry.
This scam isn't technically about credit cards, but it is scary enough to post a warning. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today saying consumers across the country are getting phone calls from bogus debt collectors claiming default on a payday loan. Of course, the consumer needs to pay a large fee to avoid arrest -- as much as $1,000.
The caller poses as a lawyer, and may threaten extradition to face trial if the consumer doesn't pay up immediately.
What makes these calls alarming -- and perhaps convincing -- is that the perpetrators reference the consumer's personal information, such as the person's Social Security number, driver's license number, previous bank account numbers, home address -- even personal references.
"The amount of information they have is really troubling," says BBB spokeswoman Alison Southwick. She adds that the amount of data points to a possible security breach.
Spread the word to your friends and family: Don't give out personal or financial information to an unknown caller. Scammers can spoof Caller ID to display different numbers, so trust your instincts over technology.
The BBB offers these tips:
? Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
? Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
? File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
? File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you.

I also just received a call from Officer Ron Williams (it could have been John Williams). He called my work as well. I am so confused. After searching the area code online, I came across this site. I called the number back and the man also had a middle eastern accent. He said the company name was UNLD. He kept asking me to verify my ss#. After I refused to verify, he told me it would be better for him if I hung up the phone. I again kept pressing him to give me infomation about what this is regarding and he refused. Telling me I should have my attoney contact him. I don't get this...he called my work, had my ss#....now I wonder what he can do with that info. This is a scary thing to have happen. I'm a single mom that works hard for what I have and now I gotta worry about someone scamming me. I will now have to close all bank accounts because I dont know what other info this man has.

I recieved a call from an Officer Williams as well-also with a heavy accent. He left a message, as I did not pick up because I did now know the #. When I called back after hearing his message he informed me that I had a lawsuit from a payday company that I had never heard of. He told me that $400 was owed and if I wanted to settle out of court to fax a piece of paper stating that I authorized UNLD to take payment out of my account. He told me I had 1 hour to send the fax. He had all of my information already(DOB, SS, place of work). I have been in contact with the sheriffs office, and also called my bank, and a local attorney. BE VERY AWARE THAT THIS IS A SCAM!

Yeah right he wanted 400.00.too stop some lawsuit against me I have filed a police report with the city I live in and they are forwarding the message on to the Attoney Generals office. Please if you can do the same thing the more info the attorney generals office gets the better the chances of them stopping this.

I received a call from a Mr. Husty. Reporting that a friend of mine was involved in some legal trouble. I asked for his number and name to verify who he was. I searched the number online and found out it's part of some scam. I then called Mr. Husty back and told him not to call me again and that I had searched the number and told him what I had found out. He told me he was going to drag me to court.

6/21/10 Just received a phone call from Officer John Williams (heavy accent, hard to understand) from UNLD about an urgent legal matter my boss was involved in. When I told him I would take a message and pressed him for further info he seemed annoyed and told me that a lawsuit had been filed against her and her social security number for fraudulent internet activity. Yeahhhh, right.

His name was Officer Steven Thomas, and he also had a middle eastern accent. Please call your local better business bureau ad report them immediately.

Got a call from here from an Officer "John Williams." He had a heavy middle-eastern or Indian accent. Just wondering HOW he got my NEW cell phone number. I am so tired of this....they have scammed some people that I know. They make you really think you have a legal issue. I am not calling him back...but I know he will continue to call all day.
