I would encourage everyone to file a consumer complaint with the California State Attorney General's office.  The web site for a fillable form is www.ag.ca.gov I am a Legal Analyst and conduct Criminal Investigations.  This outfit has been harassing my sister in-law who happens to be "challenged" individual struggling to make ends meet on her fixed income.  They do not provide account numbers, acknowledge receipt of payment, and are very intimidating.
They do not adhere to any degree of professional ethics.  Please file written complaints with Attorney General at site shown above.  

They did the same thing to me called aske to verify my address when I asked what the call regarded she wouldn't give me any information just stated if I can't verify my address have a good day this is a scam !!!

Harris and Zide, debt collectors. You could hear the sad realization in the caller's voice that he is coercing dimes from poor people to pay pennies towards his crushing student loan debt accrued during 3 years of law school that filled him with false notions of law cases bravely defending the rights of man instead of teaching him how to twist thumbs or break legs to enforce debt collection.  A law school that never once mentioned he would become a leach on the a** of the working poor. So, with an underwater mortgage and car payment coming up he swallows his pride and makes the next call to the next poor soul who won't return his call or send in that desperately needed dime.

Here's what you do with twerps like Harris & Zide: IGNORE. They only will continue to harass you once they know they got you hooked/ afraid. You can take them seriously when they actually file a law suit and subpoena you. Until then ALL scare tactics. Phone calls are to be expected. The letters are my favorite- lots of empty threats. Blow 'em off.

If you do get sued by them, here's what'll happen (In California). The two sides get together with a judge to state their case and circumstances. You simply hold out for your best deal. (Yes, lower than 50%- and that's still great profit for them even if you settle at 30% etc. HOLD OUT) Don't be bullied by these bottom feeders.

I got a call from Matthew Crawford AT WORK regarding an account that I've NEVER even had.  I called him back from a block cell phone number and he tried to say that I tried to settle the account months ago -I told him that when I called his law firm, they weren't even able to locate any records of this supposed account, much less settle it.

I am currently looking into how to sue these people.

Don't threaten to report them to the FTC. Report them!!!! If I don't know the real name of the company, I visit White Pages to see what communications system they're coming in through. I have sent a politely yet terse letter to Twtelecom about someone who is spoofing as "Loyola Univ" with a series of numbers that changes every few days. Numbers from a spoofed source will change every so often.

been getting automated calls from these guys for the last few months.  Called a couple of times to report this.  They told us it would stop.  Well it hasn't so today I called an told them to pull me of the list or I will file a complaint with the FTC.

Just got a call from a Matthew Crawford on my cell phone.  Very threatening.  Wanted to record the call.  Wanted to verify personal information.  I said "no."  Said he was from the offices of Harris & Zide.

A Martha Martinez called and said they were trying to collect a debt. Left on my answering machine.  She said they would give a 3 second pause to hang up, well, duh, if you are leaving a message, you shouldn't continue to leave a message and say you are going to pause to give them time to hang up.  They said they were a law office and also a debt collector.   DO NOT CALL ME ON MY CELL PHONE!!!   I have only set amount of minutes each month, and they are not wasted on nonsense calls.

They refused to tell me what their call was about unless i gave my social, address (or)) birthdate. Riiiiiight, because that info is given to strangers. I hung up.

...there is such a thing as online libel and you can be sued through your online service provider/ your isp. So, funny messages you are posting here and on other forums about Harris and Zide, but they are libelous and potentially costly for you when you get sued for defamation.

Steve from Harris and Zide calling. Looking for man on man love action. Told him that he had the wrong guy, but that I knew some people. Didn't have much of a sense of humor and went on blathering about some debt I owe. I told him I couldn't understand what he was saying because it sounded like he had some man pole lodged in his esophagus. I told him he was making me hot and that I was going to touch myself "down there" while he talked. He hung up. I've tried calling back...

Sue these fools like Harris and Zide. Let them make threats all they want! I've been contacted by this "Steve" guy as well and worked him over pretty good on the phone. I think I made him cry.

Basically, until they are willing to file a lawsuit against you and serve you with a summons, they are FULL of it.

Forgot to add be careful if the call originates from a two party state and your in a single party state then the stricter rules apply that both parties need to be notified,

Fight back, this number is from Harris Zide, a so called law office, have you noticed they inform you the call is recorded, well you also have the right to record the call, If your in a what they call a single party state, you do not have to inform them that your recording ( look up your state for recorded calls), once they start any violations of the FCRP, you got it on record, date and time the info on the tape, and keep a copy of your phone bill to validate THE CALL. Next find a good pro bono consumer lawyer and sue. If your from a Dual party state, you must inform them they are also being recorded. You will be told they are not allowed to talk on recorded call (wonder why) and will hang up.

I have been receiving numerous calls from an automated dialer calling my place of business looking for Ashley McBride. I have called back and told them on 4 different dates that there is no one at this number by that name and to remove my number. These calls now come at all different times of day and night. I am pissed off and calling the FCC as well as my local carrier to block this from continuing. It is a complete nuisance and borderline harrassment.

Caller represented self as NOT being with a collection agency.  Would not speak to person answering phone, insisted that I return call.  Did so and thus learned it is a collection agency.  No answer, just hung-up.  I do not pay for a telephone to allow others to invade MY PRIVACY, it is life-line.
