I just got a call from these foreigners and they asked me who I was and then hung up on me. I tried calling back several times but no one picked up. Not good, since I too was applying for jobs.

My resume is on multiple job sites. I got multiple calls from this number this morning. I couldn't understand the accent of the guy on the first call and he hung up quickly. Got two more calls later in the morning and never had a chance to pickup as they hung up after the second ring. I've added the phone number to my Junk contacts and have blocked the number. End of problem.
Thank you for all the previous posts about this number.

LA LA Poop allots called me to. Dam t**** head sands craps . US government lets these people in our country so the CEO's can get big time multi million dollar pay raises for slave labor. This must be part of the Obimbo plan to screw us Americans out of our jobs.

Vinod (what the HELL kinda mama gives her kid the name Vinod???),
Please quit calling up Americans with your fakey-jakey "Job Opportunities", and go back to being a Slum Dog in Bombay. You know you enjoy the extensive sewers there. Take a Dirt Nap, Turd Boy.

I also discriminate based on accidents, err ... accents.
Just Kidding. I reject calls on the same basis.
Have a great day!

I just got a phone call from a guy with a thick accent, I believe it was Indian. His number was 425-378-6609 and he is connected with Aditi Consulting Technologies. It was for a Yahoo customer care rep. The phone number came back as being from Bellevue, Washington and the job I had applied for is in Hillsboro, Oregon. If you Google this phone number you get all the posting his company has for jobs they are trying to fill. He sure does get around. He is trying to fill jobs on both the east and west coast!
Why does Yahoo need someone from India to locate people to work for them in customer service?

I thought it was odd that they used the title "practitioner', and then I saw it asked for my social security info. SCAM.
I worked for AT&T (notice I say worked- which is why I am on careerbuilder). I do not know of any policy where you have to supply your SSN right off the bat, or over an email to get an interview with them...

Then I got yet ANOTHER email from an entirely different company for the same job.

F.Y.I. This caller(Indian Guy named: sudhakar.akkinapalli@computechcorp.com) calls your phone supposedly as a hiring agent for AT&T. But they ask for you social security number over the phone to do a background check.... Don't you believe it!!! I am reporting them to the Attorney's Generals Office. As long as I've been seeking employment or been employed you are supposed to sign in writing(permission slip) that you are giving someone permission to investigate a background check on you. A permission form for a background check is also accompained with a Photo ID.

So what scammer are you working for?
I guess you do not understand the concept of people helping people by trying to warn them about certain situations. Yes, I check out every company that has an "opportunity" and thank God I do.
I would have given up my personal information to a scammers.
Are you a citizen of these United States. Do you know the value of keeping your personal information to yourself.
Do you understand that we do not want to be bothered with people trying to take advantage of us, run scams on us, call us over and over. That when we say "NO" we mean "NO!"
I appauld those that have written about scams to save others.
Here - Here!! To my fellow job seekers that are tired of being scammed.
Knowledge is the key!
Thank you for taking the time to post information!!
And if you send me a quote - know that I do and will turn the other cheek but I going to first check out that check

What's the number to AT&T. By darn I will call too.
I had three calls and an e-mail. Call from New Jersey - other call from MI on my cell phone and another to my home phone. Also received an E-mail from careerbuilder site (which I have reported to careerbuilders).
First call I couldn't even undertand and asked them to e-mail the information (Not Indian Accent) Second call - same accent but clearer. Asked for SSN. Advised that AT&T would never call me if I didn't give SSN. Advised then I didn't want to work for AT&T if they could not meet me in a face-to-face interview. Third call was definitely an Indian (not native American) accent - Asked for SSN. Advised no SSN. He advised that AT&T would never call me. I then informed him that AT&T has their own jobsite. That I could apply there. Again, he asked e for SSN. I told him no way no how. He told me to have a nice day and hung up.
Again, what's the number.
I think AT&T would want to put something on their website advising people about this

I have spoke to a Aravindh VijayKumar who is so called "RECRUITER" from COMPUTECH Corp. on two occasions already. This is the phone number in his email 630-296-8788. Not only was a unable to understand his language (being Indian or possibly of Middle Eastern descent), but he was very unclear of the whole "I have an job opportunity" for you thing. He offered me a position with AT&T and today called me to ask me some more experience sort of questions. In his first email he asked me to provide my SS#, which I stated that I would not do and today after speaking with him, he was persistant in getting that information. I told him that I would not give him my SS# over the phone and after getting very frustrated with not only his accent but his ability to try to scam me, I hung up the phone on him.
I don't know where these people are from or if they think that we Americans are complete "IDIOTS!!" I can say one thing though, we are not "IDIOTS," it's them on the other end that are complete masterminds of scamming people in believing that there is a job opportunity waiting there for you in such hard economic times like this. I can't belive that people still have the ability to rob people or steal their identity possibly to make ends meet. I pray on you people that do this to others, your luck is running out and your days burning in fire is just a few days away. How dare you waste my time and the time of people that are really out there searching for work when they have lost so much already. How dare you think that we are fools in just giving up our personal information for your own benefit. I hope you all go to HELL for your wrong doing and maybe first learn how to speak ENGLISH before you even pick up the telephone and dial!!! And if you don't know how to speak ENGLISH, then stay in your country and learn before you come here. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and here I am typing this message to a fool that called me today to let him know that some people are not as stupid as this Aravindh VijayKumar really is. Find a real job and stop wasting our time with your stupid phone calls and scams. Provide for your family with a real job and not one that steals peoples' identities!!

At some point it is tough not to involve India here. I am Indian too, and lets face it - most of these companies are from India. It is pretty tough to not bring about this topic without having to blame the whole country - however inappropriate and strange it may be, on a global platform, what an Indian does is reflected on the country's image.
Boo 2010-07-21 17:48:25 Unknown

IT geek 2010-03-07 05:49:09 Unknown
First off - NEVER give your SSN to anyone unless you trust them (as in, on AT&T's site directly, or through a recruiter you have developed a tight relationship with). That number is too important to give to someone you just chatted with on the phone.
I received a call from 630-206-1818, my spouse took the call and they said they were some "headhunter" with a name I didn't catch. The caller sounded Indian.
I figured I'd look up the number online (no results) and compare it to any similar numbers to see if they had another bank of numbers in case they had a phone room with lots of people, or spares in case they got earlier strings shut down.
My experience is similar to what others echoed here. I looked up UrpanTech and checked into some of their "clients" - I know for a fact that Tata is a real company, what they do is solicit USA experts, job them here for a number of months to teach people in India the jobs and then companies hire Tata to ship those jobs over to India so they can downsize American workers to get cheaper work from India.
Other companies on their list - SemanticSpace - based in Hyderabad, India.
Acxiom Consulting - based in Delhi.
KPIT Cummins - Bangalore, India.
HCL Technologies - a self-described "offshore" software development, outsourcing company. This one claims to be based in Sunnyvale, CA.
I didn't examine the rest because I got the idea that whoever UrpanTech is, they specialize in getting people for "offshore" or India-based companies, and those were enough to convince me that even if they had any jobs available, I would not be interested in providing them the means to downsize more American jobs. I suggest you stay away from UrpanTech and examine their list of clients to get more information about them.
Cheers,
An IT geek looking for an honest job
Babs 2010-01-22 15:33:25 Unknown
I get these calls all the time too. I work with the companies I am familiar with in the area...and there are about 6 of them. It comes down to this, if I can't understand you...I am not interested. It doesn't matter what country you are born in or your parents were born in.
If I can't understand the opportunity, how do I know it would be right for me? For me, that is how it works. Again, I work with other companies where I am at and have good relationships with them. This is only possible with good communication between me and them.
Bruce 2009-11-11 20:00:40 Unknown
Hi, If you have worked with AT&T or anytime submitted your resume for any position with AT&T, It is a mandatory thing to provide the SSN(last four digits) before the submission. It is to avoid the duplicate submittals from the smae cndidates or with different Parties. If you dont know this ask the person why he requires the number. Dont go on with your assumptions or thoughts. They are calling so that you will be benifited.
Thanks
Bruce

I applied today for a job on careerbuilder and within 2 hours or so got a call from this recruiting company. I guess they post fake jobs on careerbuilder and moster to "phish" client?... Anyway, added the number to MCleaner blacklist and that was the end of it.
Tricia 2009-11-02 21:25:46 Unknown
THEY CALLED BACK! I told the guy my attorney was tracing the number and when he found the address we could go about this two ways: He can pay my attorney for finding him and I'll sue him for damages, or he can give me the address himself. Either way, I'd find him. I've never heard anyone apologize so much in my life. Guy was scared outta his head when I started throwing legal jargon at him. Love it!
Tricia 2009-11-02 21:17:48 Unknown
Received a call from this guy. Initially believe it, until he requested my social security number. Emailed him telling him I'd only reveal it in a face-to-face interview. He said AT&T won't consider me without it. Anyone consider calling AT&T lawyers to report this guy? I'm on hold with AT&T right now doing it.
Jason 2009-10-28 20:11:14 Unknown
There is no harm in giving two email address. If you can't reach him on one try the other.....SIMPLE....Common sense........:)
