Calls up claiming to be part of the Lemont police union. Lists some names and asks if I know the person.  Obviously trying to establish himself as a legitimate caller via proxy.   Tried to sell ad space in book other posters mentioned about.

I called back to have my number removed from their calling list(s) and got the usual b***s*** that they don't have an internal DNC list.  The guy decided to get hostile and argumentative when all I asked is that the calls stop because we are not interested.  If anyone has any luck getting these calls to stop, please let the rest of know what worked.

The holiday season brings out all the crazy beggars claiming to be legit organizations which really makes me wish that businesses were eligible for a DNC list.

I got a call at work from this number that pops up as Wireless Caller on the caller ID.  It was some nitwit named Mike talking a mile a minute and intentionally mumbling his last name.  Thanks to all who figured out what this nonsense was about.  He's getting an airhorn the next time he calls back.

same number- shows as a cell on caller ID.  Claimed to be with Naperville Police.  Guy sounded a bit drunk, asked to be removed from the list - he complained that they only call once.  I hung up

got a call from "Tony Stark" - asking for money for the Winnetka police union.    Smelled funny and avoided the scam --

"Bensenville Police Union" - there's no such organization. What these guys do is sell ad space in books and catalogs that nobody ever sees. The catalogs do get printed but are either sent to all the participants or they sell them to you. Unless you yourself display it nobody ever sees it, and all it is is just a big book of ads for small local businesses. The product is practically worthless.

What happens is there's this big board of names in the phone room (boiler room) and everybody gets a new name every other day or so. They have business cards printed with phony names that they shuffle around. Some of the names are pretty funny.

I think they work out of the back office of a strip mall somewhere in Glen Ellyn. Some of these guys wear gold chains. Ask the guy what his name is going to be tomorrow. They do a song and dance.

This guy called my business today, claiming to be a Bensenville, IL police officer.

This is a HUGE crime.

I need help prosecuting this clown.

Last time I checked...that is a pretty big crime.

I am too lazy to call the police to report him.

If he calls here again, and pretends to be a police officer...I will prosecute him.  I will spend as much money as it takes to make this happen.
