PLEASE READ THIS!  I am the owner of a small business in Illinois and my PBX phone system was hacked into last week.  The number that you are filing a complaint about is my direct office number.

Apparently, the hackers use some kind of software to send text messages asking them to reply to our office phone numbers.  They are then able to capture some of those calls in an attempt to retrieve peoples financial information.  Many of the calls are NOT captured and ring to my direct line. Please know that I have been doing my best to answer and warn folks that this is a scam but I am getting hundreds and hundreds of phone calls and so are some of my employees.

My phone service provider, CBeyond has advised me that there is nothing that they can do.  I have filed a police report and am happy to provide the report number to anyone who needs it as verification that I and my company are not responsible for the text messages.

These relentless b@$+@rd$ keep texting me claiming to be Wells Fargo and use every trick they can including borrowing someone else's legitimate web site (wels.net - yes that's only one L - and it's a Lutheran synod having nothing to do with these people); they claim in their texts to have an issue with "my" WF account or that they are WF Security, and now that my "ATM" is suspended. Dang, I didn't know I had my own ATM; I could be raking it in like they hope to...where is it?!? Ha.
Anyone claiming to be someone they're not - I report them to the party being impersonated, in this case, I forward the text to reportphish@wellsfargo.com because they have the most drive to take the scam artists down; the FTC is ineffective and the no call list is useless.

They keep sending me texts.  For work, I had to post jobs on Craigs list.  That is the only use for my cell and these annoying texts.

It's a matter of numbers. If only 1% of texts reach WF customers and only 1% of those fall for the scam, if 1,000,000 texts are sent, then 100 WF customers will fall for it.

I also received a text message from mmp@vtext.com at 2:58pm on 10-16-2011.  Your ATM has been temporarily suspended. Call 1-630-405-6541....This is a scam I hope no one calls them and gives them information about their accounts. I know it's a fake text from people who claim they are Wells Fargo idiots don't realize not everyone banks with Wells Fargo...I sure don't.
