I received the same call from Britney as well indicating my name was picked from the drawing at the Ski & Snowboard Show as the grand prize winner of the 3 day vacation for two. She said there was no catch or sales pitch they were just celebrating their 20th anniversary and were giving away the trip in hopes that I would like the trip I went on and use them again. I was pretty excited that I may have won something; however, then she said that I would have to come to Lake Geneva to pick up the voucher and listen to a 90 minute presentation.

I was really skeptical at this point but my friend who went with me to the show indicated he received a call indicating he was one of 100 finalists and and the winner would be drawn this week. He did not receive a call back so I almost thought this was sort of legit. I am glad I looked up Meridian Travel on google because I found this site.  I agree everyone's story sounds very similar and this absolutely seems sketchy. If you call back let me know what they tell you, I would be interested in knowing how they spin this because it sounds like one of those travel scam companies or timeshare.

So I just received a call yesterday around dinner time from Britney for a 3 day vacation for 2 - this would include hotel and air fare. I normally wouldn't call back, but I did because they mentioned they pulled my name from a raffle at the Ski & Snowboard show, I did sign up for a couple. The company: Meridian World Travel, phone number: 630-474-4665. It was weird because no one picked up at 10am and 12:30pm - Britney did pick up at 3pm today. She had said that there were 100 winners out of 3,000 or 30,000 not sure the number. I asked her what the catch was, she said none. However my plus one and I would have to drive all the way to Lake Geneva for a 90min session on how to use their system. Knowing it was an hour plus drive she offered a $50 gas card (to be received after the trip tickers were booked).  After the ?meeting? where we would verify our identities, we would have a year to redeem our 3day trip to anywhere in the U.S.  This was a whole promotional marketing ploy for word of mouth for their companies 20+ year anniversary. They wanted to schedule meetings in the evening... possibly Saturday.

After our conversation, I wasn?t sold. It seemed sketch, so naturally I let my friends know who attended the event. They helped me with some research and I ended up here. It would have been cool to win something, but after reading everything and how it is eerily similar situations it seems like a scam. I am tempted to call back and let her know what I just found out.

Thoughts?

Just received a call from Emily from Meridian World Travel in Lake Geneva,  WI.

We also won a trip to Vegas and she went on saying we had to only stop by their offices and book our days.

Entering a Breast Cancer raffle to which I thought the only prize is the car they had on display.  A month after the festival I get a call saying I didn't win the car or the 50K visa gift card but had won a trip for two to Vegas.

After collecting some information they informed me that they will pick 7 names out of the 10 that they were calling to win the trip.

something odd was that the caller ID said that Climax Promotions was the company name, not a travel agency.

If you are curious, the information they asked for was marital status, whether or not I'm over 21, and the city I live in.

Just got a call form Emily at 603-474-9949 saying that I had won a raffle and a free vacation.  I didn't answer the call but she left a message.  My friend was at the same event and entered the same raffle and received the same call about a week ago so I knew something was up!  Thank God for this site warning me!!  I called the number back to see what she would say and she didn't answer and her voice mail said to leave her a message or if we have an appointment with New Directions that she will contact us.  This raffle was at Pridefest in Milwaukee WI!

Yup, I just won a trip to Vegas from a bridal show I didn't attend. Total scam, not even going to bother calling back.

I didn't get a call from this phone number but the situation is exactly the same as the other responses.  "Jessica" called from 630-474-3800 saying she is from Americas Travel Agency in Crystal Lake Illinois.  She said we just won a trip to Las Vegas from a raffle that was at the Chicago Auto Show.

I recieved a message from  Jessica March 3rd 2012 saying I won a free trip for 2 to Vegas...the 3rd place prize from the Chicago Auto Show.  OK....not the 1st place Monstor truck or the 2nd place $50K....sounds like a time share scam!

America Travel Agency, Crystal Lake at 630-474-9950

We received calls from "Jessica" who claims we won a free trip to Vegas including flight from a raffle we entered at the Chicago Auto Show.  No obligation, no cost, congratulations, etc.

Off course, there is an obligation to attend a one hour, informative meeting about the company at a designated time, place etc.

Definitely a SCAM.  Ignore all calls and claims.

This fraudulent outfit is still working in Crystal Lake, IL under the name Global Travel or Global International Travel in January 2012. Totally fraudulent--stay away. They didn't like the fact that we wouldn't write down our yearly income. Because we wouldn't do this, they brought another form that we "had to" fill out specifying that our first contact person (phone 630 474 9949--Emily) should have told us we MUST reveal our salary, and since she didn't she would probably lose her job. Plus they told us that Illinois State Law requires that we must list our salary. ??!!??? At this point, my husband was starting to lose it, so they asked us if we wanted to go into a separate room. He shouted NO, lots of managers came over, and we were escorted out of the room. The music was blaring to hide people's anger when they find out they are being manipulated and scammed. Stay away, stay away. Feels awful to have been around people who are blatantly trying to scam you. I feel sorry for those who did sign up. I assume this is some kind of ponzi scheme. Emily--you're sweet--get out of this business and get a better job!!
