Bull CRAP! What happens is, these guys come in and tell you a bunch of lies.  After you agree to have the thing installed then you get a bill with an interst rate you didn't agree to.  When you call and ask what the deal is, the finance company dirtbags that these liars work with (who happen to have their own in house lawyer, wonder why they would need that) will refuse to get rid of these finance charges even if you try to pay the entire amount.  If you try to tell them to come and get it then they will say you are past the time that you had to cancel.  They will tell you whatever it takes to get you to agree to the install, and I will not say that the equipment doesn't work, but it is over priced and thats how they really get you is with the financing.  THIS IS A SCAM DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE GUYS.  THE FINANCE COMPANY IS ISPC AND THEY ARE OUT OF ODESSA FLORIDA.  WHY WOULD A COMPANY BASED OUT OF LOMBARD ILLINOIS NEED A FINANCE COMPANY OUT OF FLORIDA?   BECAUSE ITS A RIP-OFF.  THESE GUYS ARE CROOKED SCUMBAGS.  YOU TAKE REALLY GOOD CARE OF YOUR CLIENTS ALRIGHT.   FACT IS BBB RATES YOU AS A TOTAL FAIL BECAUSE YOU RIP OFF DECENT FOLKS.   TOMMY AREN'T YOU THE GUY THAT CALLED MY WIFE A BI***???

They claim to be doing a SURVEY on water quality [a legal activity under DNC regs], but when I asked the lady, "Do you folk sell filtration equipment she admitted "Yes".  It's a scam to evade the regs.

this company is back up and running but it is a SHAM the stilll dont pay their employees and how former employees thousands of dollars worth of checks. they will get shut down AGAIN.

They have gone belly-up.

Their website status is "suspended" ( http://www.purtecwaters.com/ ), and they have moved out of their building as the sign on the front of the building will attest to. I just want to say as one of their neighbors who has had a home down on Chase in Villa Park for years, that we were all happy to see these people go. They really made a hell hole out of the building they occupied for two years, as well as disturbing the peace an innumerable amount of times with their yelling, swearing and overall riff raff behavior. Not to mention the constant influx of people in and out of that place... the reports of drug use/sales coming out of that place or it's management doesn't surprise me one bit.  

Brandon Young was apparently their day to day loudmouth boss and all we can say is good riddance to him! The main flim flam man who bankrolled this shady operation was Mark Solomon. A perfunctory investigation into this Solomon guy's background is all you need to know about them and their service.

For those of you who bought products, "warranties" or expected any future service... all I can say is good luck, I hope your systems hold out longer than it would have been worth to buy bottled water for the next 12 years (or however it was it that some earlier poster said at $6,000-8,000).

We purchased a system from purtec water a little over 5 months ago. Yes, they came in with the free test and we thought it would be a good idea to have the system in our house. We did it for our children after we saw what they said was in our tap water.

It seemed to work fine until about a month ago. We had a leak that saturated the corner of our basement. The system quit working at that time also. We made dozens of calls to the office in Lombard...only to leave voicemail messages that were never returned. Once, we actually got thru to a woman, she said that no one was in the office at the time, but assured us we would get a call back. Never happened.

We hired a plumber to fix the leak, but the system still does not work. Wish we NEVER purchased from this company.

We purchased this system about 2 years ago and I love it. My husband has horribly dry skin and it has drastically improved this. It works well and haven't had any problems with the system itself. However, we were NOT told that the filters have to be replaced every 12-18 months when we had a service tech come out for a panel reset and he told us it averages $200+!!

Also had been given "green" cleaning products but they were short two bottles of disinfectant. Repeated calls to the company and they promise that their people will drop it off but it never appears. The dishwasher detergent is crap and left a dirty filmy residue and I asked to switch out an unopened bottle for laundry detergent and was assured the driver could do that...however 2 years later, I have not received it. Nothing major but it's the principle of it.

I am really suprised at all these negative reviews. Obviously people do not like telemarketers and sales pitches but lots of businesses run like this, their just as annoying as commercials but they get you to buy. Also, the system is great its really improved our water and is worth the price. As far as what goes on between the owners and employees, it really does sound like some ex employees are just trying to run the companies name in the ground because of petty personal reasons. The advise that I can give is just dont knock it till you try it.

PUR TEC IS THE BEST WHOLE HOME WATER FILTRATION COMPANY THERE IS ! they came out and tested my water for me and my family .. and left us with our movie vouchers . They were very professional and held extreme knowledge in this business . We use Call Trace for harassing calls. It is a great service that utilizes law enforcement when calls from unwanted solicitors persist. These people called us regularly, so we reported their number.

The officer who followed up with us said it belonged to Purtec in Lombard, said they sell water softeners. He also said they have numerous complaints filed against them for calling people on the DNC list.

He said they had an issue not long ago where police were dispatched there because the owner physically assaulted an employee as well. He couldn't say more because they have 3 pending law suits against them. He assured me they will not be calling me again!

That's great Mr "GM at Pur-Tec", only I am not one of your "disgruntled" employees. I am however a very dissatisfied and upset user of this product. Why is it that you have time to post here, yet after repeated calls to your office I have had to leave voice mail after voice mail...with no response from your company! I finally had another company come in and replace your system with one that actually performs. Very, very costly experience, but one that has made me much wiser.

I'll I can say is it's clearly my fault for not doing the research before buying. Lesson learned...DO YOUR RESEARCH!!

All I would have had to do is check with the BBB (link below). Pur Tec Waters has a "B-" rating with 14 complaints filed against them for all kinds of problems. Even worse, click on the "related company" section (run by the same owners) it has an "F" rating!!!

Check for yourself and be sure to read all you can about this company. BUYER BEWARE!!

Well they almost got us :)  Spoke to my husband about coming out to test our water and giving us free movie tickets. My husband said they could come. Thankfully, I googled the number and came across this site. We called and canceled right away.

Sounds like a scam run by some shady company, not worth our time or a couple free tickets.

Excuse me, you must think I'm an idiot. The price and entire sales discussion was over one system and one system only. We were still going to get the best system with all the "bells and whistles" for the reduced price because you guys "had inventory to move...blah, blah, blah"!

Now, if you're telling me you were going to lie to us and bring in an inferior product without our knowledge, then that would explain a lot about the reputation you seem to have.

Sir, we have not gone belly-up.  We are still thriving as a company.  If you have a service issue that was not handled properly please call Craig - GM at PurTec and he will get the issue resolved.

Sir I do appreciate your input, but a tank less water heater is not what we offer.  We offer Home water filtration systems.  If you do get a tank less water heater and want it to last you need a system like ours to protect that investment.  They compliment each other, and you should ask any plumber out there and they will tell you the same thing!

We do not drop the price like that unless we offer a different system that does not have same functionality as the extra pure.  It is still a great system just doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the extraPure has.  You can check with The Leveredge to see if we are trying to con you in any way shape or form!  We did have an ex-employee that was dropping prices below our cost, but he was let go due to this.

I would like to put this out there.  Unfortunately we had some employee's that were very unprofessional and had to let them go.  These employee's are now trying to bash our company. We are a very reputable company with over 2,500 recommendations.  We are the #1 Dist. in the country for The LeverEdge.  Please research The Leveredge and find out how great of a company we actually are.  We can not control disgruntled employees and what they want to post for losing their jobs.  If you are considering purchasing the best water filtration system on the market please research our system and call us(Pur-Tec is the only company allowed to sell the Extra Pure system in the state of Illinois). Well I'm sure glad I googled this company and found this site! Thanx to everyone who has posted here, because we were almost going to buy one of their systems...but something sure seemed suspicious!

They contacted us also with the 30 second survey, followed by free movie tickets if they can come to the house and test our water. We had them out and got our water tested. It was interesting to see what was in our water. They offered us free soap for 5 years (?!?) if we bought their product at a cost of almost $8,000. When we said no, the "technician" made an obviously phony call to the office, where he miraculously was able to get us one for only$4,500....WOW what a deal. We asked to have time to think about it and research it more...and just like that the price dropped to an incredible $3,000!!!

We were amazed at the $5,000 drop in price during that 15 minutes. If we weren't hesitant, we could have WAY overpaid! Funny thing is, we didn't buy just because of the weird sales experience...2 days later, these guys called AGAIN and asked if a VP could come out to talk to us about price. We said sure...what the heck, maybe it will be free this time :)

Turns out, this guy told us he could get us a system (with that 5 year soap thingy) for the low, low price of $3,999! We had to laugh, the price went up?! Anyway, it was something my wife and I got a big kick out of...it's not everyday you get to meet the 3 stooges in person!

If you are researching and thinking about buying from them...hold out, you can obviously just name your price, which really makes you wonder about the integrity of their product and customer service.
