We work an ice cream store. man with heavy indian accent conned one of our employees to give her cell phone number and used it to get a confirmation code on craigslist. it would appear that this is the motive:

he identified himself as Adam Parker he called from 760-705-8888 whichis a nonworking cell number when you call back.

he claimed he was from corporate and that he was sending us new uniforms the next day and he needed the cell number for this.

Indian guy called threatning that he was from health department and that he was sending  adam parker to come inspect the restaurant. He also said an auto message was going to call afyter he hung up and to write down the number and he would call back to get that number. I refused to comply and he turned angry and more threatning. I then called the health department to let them know that someone is frauding using the health department as cover and they were happy that i called them to let them know what happened. I incourage all to follow up with the health department to let them know this is happening to you so we can catch this pieace of s*** !

Well this scam is still going on and it really had me upset because I try very hard to keep my kitchen up to code. In any case i waited all day (today) for this Adam Parker and after a long night of looking on craigslist for this "complaint" and finding nothing trust me when I say I am very tired. In any case if you get a call from US Food & Health Department and a Adam Parker is going to come and see you don't give then any information. I don't know what it is they are after but what ever it is they did not get it from us. I hope this information helps you as much as it helped me.

These monkeys called and used the name Adam Parker as well.  Said they were from the health department.  We are an Asian restaurant and i guess they thought we would be scared.  We just said to do whatever they wanted and hung up.

TO ALL -  THIS IS A SCAM.  It has been going around for many years.  They get you to give a valid phone number in order to list something illegal.  When the unsuspecting caller gives the code, the phone number is validated for the listing.  

They have been calling in Canada also, saying their from head office, of whatever company they make the call to.  The caller has been in most cases, from what appears to be East Indian decent or of a similar accent.

Be aware that they use your phone number to post or list illegal items/ activity.

Scamer's  They were saying they were from the health department and they needed to give me my validation number for our inspector coming tommorrow.

Called from SOLO MOBILE saying that they'd send me a free cell phone because of my good payments, week-end, night, free etc. for 25 $. At first he asked for a completely wrong name then started asking questions adress, birth, etc. And fivally he need my social insurance card number to verify I was the right guy, saying he already had it in front of him. I refused. He then switched for credit card number. I refused and hung up...

This is complete b***s***. A total scam. Do not give them any info. I think they just want yr numbers to cold call you w scams. They are NOT the Health Dept!!!!!

Indian with bad accent. Telling me I had a health inspector come in the next day between 1-2 named John Kim. Asked for my cell, didn't give it to him. Obviously FAKE. Health inspectors do NOT inform you of visits. Hang up when he calls or play along and waste his time(he wants to basically waste yours).

Same here. 2 India health department guys called from this phone number and requested a craigslist verification number. They told they will come 2 days later and warned me to give them the craigslist verification number. I told them to send me a health department official letter or shut down our business.

Some JERK with an Indian accent called from a CELL phone, saying he was from the health department and said he wanted to speak to the manager.  When I questioned him more he got hostile.  Then I told him WE DON'T SERVE FOOD!!!!  and he HUNG UP.  SCAM!!!

I got the same call from that number.  The city health inspector just came by yesterday.  I don't see why they would come again.  They also never make appointments and just show up! So this must be a scam. Also, why would they need a craigslist code? Scam!

Just got a call from this number today. Almost the exact same story line as noted by other user from above. Looks to me its a prank. Stupid. Well next time I see this number, I'll just ignore it.

Got a call from them too, and they were just fooling around, and sounded like a teenager doing call pranks to me ... , nothing new, but still irritating XD

After a pause when I first picked up the phone, someone asked to speak with me (by name). When I probed about who was calling, he introduced himself as Chris Brown. He said he was calling from the police and that if I didn't cooperate I would be fined $5000 and go to jail. I said I didn't think so and hung up!

A caller with Indian accent, like the one before called me about some inspection #.   Said we had couple of complaints about our food and servers He hung up and an automated call sent me a "craigslist" validation number.  Then he called back and wanted my fax number.  But said the number is not receiving.  Then asked for my cell phone number to send the complaint number.  I said I was confused don't wanted to be on the line with him anymore, will just talk to whoever they are sending to for inspection.

Got a call from 630 788-1111 that stated they were from the regional health authority of our area and wanted to come and inspect our place due to complaints that they received about us. They stated that they would phone back in a few minutes with an inspection # and that a person by the name of Adam Parker would come Monday to do the inspection. On the second call, when asked where they were calling from they gave a different city name from the first call. When I stated that I was going to contact our local health inspector, he then said that he must have the wrong number and hung up. When I tried phoning back it stated the # 630 788-1111 was no longer in service???????

Then a few minutes later he called again and started asking the same questions, and I asked him if he just called asking for a different number to send a validation number to, and  he just laughed and said ok and then hung up.
