What an immature asshat.  I have never answered calls that I do not know, and guess what, if they need me they leave a message, sometime I just DON'T WANT TO HEAR about the next freaking cruise!!!

It's not always about not paying bills, sometimes people work all kinds of hours and leave their phone on for emergency cases and they hang up before you answer the phone.  Being on the "no-call" list and telling them before not to call they should not be calling.  I was woke up when I am lucky to get a straight 4 hours of sleep.  Some people also do not answer the phone because the no call system does not work and they do not know the number, so please do not just assume that people owe money.  The hospitals in my area all end in 0000 or something similar so why would anyone think that it was a hospital esp. with a 630 area code.

I'm sorry - but I don't pick up with numbers I don't recognize either. As for hospitals, they will leave a message stating that they are trying to reach (insert name here) and to call them back as soon as possible. They don't have to leave details, but at least this way the recipient will know that it is a real person and not something from a calling list. Yes, my number is on the do not call registry, however I still get calls for misc things that I have zero interest in.

I too had the same issue. I thought I was applying for a job, but ended up being contacted by a college from this number, which was AIU. What do these people not understand. If you are looking for a job "You are Broke" and in need of job to get back on your feet, not another debt to be added to the already existing problem.

I've been bombarded with calls from universities (this one included) and scam artists alike. The scam artists tell me that they are from the US government and I am eligible for grant money. I'm sure it all started while I was job hunting. I went to a few job sights that make you think you are registering to post your resume. In reality, you are giving them your contact information so that they can divide and conquer through numerous collages and scam ops. It might have been in the fine print that they were going to do this, but you would need an attorney to analyze the fine print on most web sites.

Bull, if you like being harassed, then you pick up your phone.  If you're one of these bottom feeding collection agencies making a living off of other peoples blight, then DIE!  If you're a telephone solicitor upset that people are ignoring your constant calls DIE!

I too have been receiving calls from this number, and I will not answer calls that I do not know.  If it were an emergency they would leave a message to call back saying who they were.  There is no privacy issue there. I have called back the number several times asking to remove my name and the calls continue.  What part of NO I am not interested do you not understand,

Real universities do not make those kinds of calls. Only the private schools, that more than not, lack accreditation. They love to get accreditation from boards that are not as stringent also. Another favorite tactic is to get the institution accredited, but not the programs. This requires a much less stringent review. One institution moved from Atlanta to Chicago so that it could get a more favorable rating when SACS was one step away from removing accreditation. People with really poor grammar/math skills would be better served attending a local community college where they can get the help they really need at a very reasonable cost (state subsidized as opposed to other alternatives). It does matter in the real world where you get your degree. The call I got came when I switched cell numbers to keep an ex from calling me, so God knows who had the number before me.

You are wayyyy off base. I don't anyone a dime, but I don't answer calls where the number is not recogized. I have many wealthy clients that do exactly the same, they don't answer the phone if they don't know the number that is calling. So, have a clue, it's not about fear.

I'm sorry, but it appears to be a University. With the simple lack of articulation in your sentence and poor grammar, you just might want to take the call and hear them out.

I pay all of my bills on time and pay more than what is due on most occasions.  I have never been late on a payment of any type.  I tend to not answer calls from numbers I don't know becuase in the 8 years I have had my current number, I have received collections calls from someone I have never heard of and have repeatedlty asked and have been told that my number would be removed from their listing.

Your comment shows a lack of intelligence.  I don?t answer calls from numbers I don?t know because even though I have had my number for years I still get calls for the previous owner.  If a hospital calls they will leave a message with a number to call them back, they don?t just hang up.  I?ll be you are one of those people who think they are better than everyone else because you have not lost your job or had a catastrophic medical event happen to you;  that or you?re a spoiled brat who has had everything handed to you so you didn?t have to struggle with bills as very good people do sometimes.  Maybe instead of judging others you might lend them a hand or at least mature enough to keep your mouth shut.

People dont tent to pick up call ONLY when they are scared, meaning not paying their bills on time and thinking its a collections agency. Why would you not pick up a call? What if your family member were in a hospital and the hospital was calling you. Due to privacy act hopistals are not suppose to leave messages with details because it could be the wrong person. SO PLEASE PICK UP THE CALLS NEXT TIME OF COURSE UNLESS YOU OWE PEOPLE/AGENCY MONEY. In that case PAY THEIR MONEY BACK TO THEM!!!

This call came at 9:12pm.  1)Unacceptable.  It is from CTU, whom I have spoken with and expressed my disinterest, asking that they take my name from their list. (Don't call me, I'll call you. 2)Unacceptable.  They did not leave a message. 3) Unacceptable.

I discussed the option of enrolling in CTU - Online University with them and decided against it.  They are pretty hard sell, and obviously won't go away.  CTU is Colorado Technical University.

Telemarketer
After receiving numerous calls from this number, hangups and no messages left, I finally called the number back and found that it is AIU or American Intercontinental University (something like that). Apparently, I inquired about the school at one point in time (4 years ago) and they were calling to find out whether I've completed school or not. They are very pushy and persistent. I asked that they not call me anymore and recommended they leave messages because people tend to not answer the phone when they don't know who the call is coming from. The representative responded with, "well, we don't leave messages until we establish contact and have a reason to contact you." Well, what kind of sense does that make?
