Broadwing Communications, LLC* - and anyone else who runs or facilitates these spam operations - ought to be fined out of existence, or worse.

(*Another complaint site said this was the name of the company that owns this phone# - who knows for sure, they may even be able to use multiple names.)

I speak just enough high-school level Spanish to mess with them, so I decided to press 1 to claim my $1,000.00 prize.  I told her (in a very gringo accent) that I was happy that I had won.  She was very pleasant and congratulated me.  She cheerfully went in for the kill, asking me for a credit card number.  I couldn't entirely understand, but it was either to verify my identity or to deposit the prize money.  I asked her to wait for a moment, and kept her waiting.  I came back and asked her why she needed the credit card.  She hung up.  Folks, if you can't find out who they are, at least mess with them and have some fun with it.

I'm not trying to be rude, but you're uninformed. If a call is placed from a computer using VOIP (voice over ip), the number that shows up on the call display of the person receiving the call will not be that of the telephone line associated with the DSL connection of the caller.

As for cell phones being hacked just like computers: Knowing someone's cell phone number is not enough information to 'hack' someone's cellphone. Cellphone hacks are rare, and in the case of the jailbroken iPhones that have recently been hacked, they were hacked via their internet connection, again having nothing to do with their telephone numbers.

This scheme involves a robot dialing random phone numbers, which is why they call private numbers, cell phones, etc. They are located out of the country - hence why they call at inappropriate times (ex. 6:30 am.)
It is either a telemarketing company tricking you into claiming your prize so they can charge you for other hidden fees or upgrades, (ie. time share) or it may be a scam attempting to obtain your credit card number and possibly other personal information, resulting in fraudulent credit card use or identity theft.
Bottom line... Don't fall for it. You'll get screwed.

Got a call at my unlisted private phone number at work. Robotic male voice said my phone number was selected as the winner of $1000 travel dollars and to press 1 to claim my prize. Yeah... good one. Mother effers trying to scam people. I suspect if you press 1, someone will ask for your credit card number to charge the "taxes" and then proceed to use your number fraudulently. Idiots.

Called my cell @ 11:49 Central Time & did not leave a message.

Hey Useless, thanks for the input. Those of us "idiots" who don't know what's going on might be glad to know there are other "idiots" out there having the same problem & they're not alone. But then again, I'm not the "idiot" who named myself "Useless."

Have a nice day! :)

Just received a call from these bozos on my cell phone (which of course I don't answer).  Isn't this a federal offense?  Isn't there technology in place that can eradicate the 630-982-7878 telephone number in addition to all the other bogus numbers used by scammers????  Telephone abuse is insane and out of control and no one seems to be able to put a stop to it.
