this # keeps calling me and when i answer the hang up. Need laws to stop these people 631-609-2330

I'll let you all in on a little secret.  In the telemarketing world if you dont answer or hang up, they mark you as a call back...same thing if it rings to your voicemail.  If they ask for you and you ask "whats this about" and they tell you and hang up without stating you are the person they are looking for... you are marked as a call back because you didn't say you were the person they were calling to speak with.  By saying yes, I am Joe Smith then hanging up it can be marked as not interested otherwise its a callback and you will be called back.  

People realize that you get these calls because you requested information on the web about certain products and then your information has been sold to other companies.  And when you do this, guess what, its not illegal or a violation of the do not call list for companies to call you.

I don't answer calls when I don't recognize the number.  They call repeatedly.

received call 3/21.  didn't pick up.  no message left.  no idea who it is.

The same thing happened to me. They asked if I wanted to refinance my mortgage. The guy sounded like a used car salesman. Be careful with stolen identities out there. Don't give them ANY information.

Got a call from this number while I was working at home today talking to a coworker on the line about a business matter when it showed up on caller-ID. Caller ID showed it was from Brentwood, New York - I placed my coworker on hold and answered the call. A man said he was from National Loan Mortgage or National Mortgage Loan something like that - since they aren't my mortgage company and I don't have a problem with my mortgage company I immediately switch back to my work related call and hung up on the man.

Got my first call from this number today.  I answered and there was no one there.   I am thinking it might be Elvis try to get in contact with us.

I received this call almost every the other day for a couple of weeks and ignored it. I finally picked up the phone this morning. A real person spoke to me on the phone, and he said he was calling from ICG (?) Home Loans or something. I told him to remove my number from their list and he said he would. I will see if they stop calling me.

I got this call, too.
I didn't answer it, but when I called the number back I got a message that said, "Thank you for calling a national marketing company.
If you would like to be removed from our contact list, please leave your telephone number, including area code." BEEP (recording started).

These crooks are being slick, they are spoofing their calling number, 631-609-9042. Spoofing is when they "trick" your caller id to display any number they want, in this case their callback voicemail where they expect you to leave your number (bad idea). Since their calling number is spoofed, you will not be able to block this number, ie Verizon fios phone block, since this is not the actual originating number. What to do now? The Truth in Caller ID Act of 2009, which was signed into law Dec. 22, 2010, prohibits caller ID spoofing for the purposes of defrauding or otherwise causing harm. The FCC fines are up to $10,000 for each violation. However, you need to call the FCC at 877-382-4357, option 1, 2, and then 3. You speak to a live agent, stress that this a spoofed call, calls everyday, and the display number is 631-609-9042. Remind them this is now a federal crime, cite The Truth in Caller ID Act of 2009, which was signed into law Dec. 22, 2010, which they are suppose to enforce the FCC rules that were adopted. Only if enough people call and file official complaints will the FCC get off their a$$es and trace the punish these crooks. Call now and let the law work for us for a change.

These callers have to be stopped. Every day , morning, noon and night. No messages are left so I answered them today to tell them to stop calling. The woman recited "this is Guaranteed Mortgage Company looking for xxxxxxx" The name she gave me is unknown to me so I told her to stop calling. I've reported them on the Do Not Call Registry web site. What else????

I keep receiving calls from this # also & it is quite annoying. I never answer for #'s I don't recognize.

Adding to the confirmed home mortgage company.  I answered it the first time it called as I have acquaintances in that area code.  Talked briefly with a woman.  When I told her my interest rate (very low) she said "well I guess we cant help you."   They clearly don't update the target number status as I keep getting calls.  They must have a large group of people farming the list and nobody has a vested interest in keeping it clean.

Same story...I have been receiving calls from this phone number for about a week. How do these marketers get around being blocked?! Ridiculous...

Same thing happened to me. Several times I didn't answer and no message left. A few times I did answer and no one answered back until line disconnected. They call every day! Urg! However, one time I did answer and after a few seconds of silence an automated voice said "good bye" before the line disconnected. I even had my husband say "hello" a few times after I did to put a male voice on the phone... nothing. Why in the WORLD call if you're not intending to reach the person who answers? It's like a company that just wants to make peoples phones ring... I'm sure that's not the case, but it's the principal of the matter. Pains in the butt!

caller asks for you by name..when told you are not available they slam the phone in your ear!

I just happened to answer the phone when they called me today and they told me that they were from Home Mortgage and asked if I wanted to lower my mortgage.

Really wish they would stop calling.  I haven't answered it, they don't leave a message but continue to call about 2 times per week
