I also gave blood over a year ago and continue to get calls from NY Blood Center CONSTANTLY from a variety of #s, even AFTER telling them periodically that I can't come in until further notice for medical reasons. I keep programming the numbers they use into my phone, but this was a relatively new one. Their mission may be valuable and urgent, but using shady and agressive tactics including harrassing people at work and changing numbers at random so they can "catch" you on the phone doesn't give me a lot of faith in this organization. I keep wishing there were another way to give blood in NYC that doesn't involve them.

If it is the blood center and you cannot give blood ask them to remove you from their calling data base due to medical reasons.

Yeah - the point being though, that they should quit calling people who have told them they don't want to donate blood.  As for being "selfish", some of us are not able to give blood due to medical conditions and/or vaccinations received overseas.

you can only give blood every 90 days, i believe it is..so the calls stop for 90 days, then they remind you that your blood is needed to help others!  and, if you are totally a selfish person, it helps with that too!  you feel good about yourself for doing it..so  it is a win win situation!  they also give out tickets to ball games, sweatshirts, and other stuff to get people to give..  
Just do it, trust me, what goes around , comes around.  Someday you may need some blood yourself!

I keep getting phone calls from this number.  No messages are left. I tried to call whoever it is but I
get a message that number "is not in service."

No one Iknow donates blood,  but myself,  and I get these calls.

This number called and said something about westjet. Seems to have nothing to do with blood work anymore.
I received the same message from 613-618-8999.

I get these calls everyday sometimes twice  a day. I will never give blood again. They have no respect for people, and no business calling my home everday. If I want to give blood i'll contact them. Rude nasty people.

This number calls and I try to call bck but everytime it says I'm sorry but the number you are calling has been disconnected. I don't understand this...

I don't think blood services would do anything shady. Maybe the person who posted this is the one prank ing people and is creating a smoke screen. In the end, they'll be caught because people are smart enough to post it on the web and the right people are watching.

Please change your habits and show New York Blood Center on Caller ID. Also, a message would be appreciated. These calls from Amegansett, East Hampton and Dialer are poor marketing and you're loosing a lot of potential donors because these days everyone ignores callers they don't know.
Calling constanly and not leaving a message for your donors is rude as well.

This "Do not Call list" is garbage.

I always give blood when I can and I can't stress the importance of blood or platelet donations. But what gives with the daily phone calls on my cell and home number without leaving a message. Now you can't even call the number back, it has a block.
Even after telling them I couldn't donate for some physical reason. I kept receiving phone call after phone call. Totally frustrated!

I donate blood on a regular basis.  I do not have time for these calls.

I don't mind donating blood (I do it often).
I do mind getting a call and not having anyone on the other end!

Donated one day and started getting the calls 2 days later?  So not reminders.  Never seem to make it to the phone to pick up so I can't say if they are rude or not.  But definitely, not reminders.

NY Blood Center. Please leave a message. Not everyone has, or bothers to look a Caller ID. Most of us do not write in our to-do or calendars to give blood. You are delaying or loosing potential donors. If you're going to call as a reminder, why not leave a message?

Got a call from this # and I incorrectly assumed it was a Trash telemarketer because Caller ID shows "Dialer" on the phone and TV. Normally it shows NY Blood. I almost blocked the # because they didn't leave a message and I only figured out who it was when I got here. Glad I didn't block it, but I certainly wish they'd call less. They called just a few days ago as I see the last post here is mine.
I don't buy the excuse that we had a tough winter. We had no bad weather until Nemo arrived and none since. There's always a chronic shortage rain, snow or sunshine. This is a business like any other. The people who work there, work for pay, so they have expenses to meet. Pulling on donor's heartstrings about shortages is getting old.

NY Blood Center. Give blood regularly, but they keep calling. At lease it's legitimate and a worthy cause. They should leave a message in case you don't check caller ID just as a reminder.

It's the blood center, they change there phone number from time time to throw you off so you anwser your phone, pretty slick of them....I give blood and I don't anwser my phone, so it's no big deal for me......

so, you're saying... just give in to the abuse.

blood center.  won't take blood without a phone number, then call to harass you.

This is from the New York Blood Center. Call (800) 933-2566 and ask to have a DO NOT CONTACT added to your name. I unsubscribed from their emails and that worked and hope the same for their 800 number.

i have a better idea..go give blood every other month and they won't bother you!  They are low...especially if you have O negative blood, it can be given to every one.  Give..  some day you may need it..and if every one gave, it will always be there!

if you dont want them to call tell them you got a tattoo, or a piercing.  They will stop calling since u cant give for a year.  However, if you do go to try and give blood/plateletts they dont say anything u told these outside people you got a tatoo

I donate regularly but I recently found out that I'm pregnant. I told them I would be happy to donate after my due date and they said they made a note of it, but they still call. I can't mind too much, the need for donors is serious.
