I got a call from Kathrina & i ended up being scammed of USD1078.

I feel so stupid after giving my my credit card number over the phone & had the payment reflected on my card.
Worse still i gave her so much of my details.Only realised something not right when i received a mail saying that inclusion on the website is for free with no charge.

Similar to what the others have mentioned... It sounded sooooo goooood - my name and profile in an Ivy-League-sounding list, gold certificate of achievement, a welcome package, a published extended profile, quarterly magazine, permission to put 'Stanford Who's Who' on my business card and website, website and email links to others with similar interests, add it to my resumé & etc...

Got a phone call call from Babett Placero as well about signing up for the Stamford Who's Who. Somehow got suckered into revealing my credit card number but later in the conversation realized that this was a scam. she avoided giving me the website or agreeing to send me more information on the "Offer". Moreover the US$800 offer was reduced to US$34 when I resisted. Anyway didn't feel good about the whole thing and immediately cancelled my credit card. Hope there won't be anymore calls from them anymore.

Yesterday morning I received call from this number. But I must say few days before I filled out the form for joining this networking - Who's who in Canada, which was advertised on LinkedIn as free joining. The representative introduced her as Christine and was asking me questions all related to my business, accomplishments, goals, education, and so on....was asking me to talk not so fast because she was writing notes about my biography for publishing.... everything  looked real. then she started to convince me to buy a membership, as all described in previous comments here. starting from platinum, don't remember now exactly that fee, something around 1000, then less expensive, and eventually for only $99, but I rejected all these fees and reminded that ad was about free joining, and on other hand I only start my business and have so extreme expenses that it didn't fit into the budget in any event... But somehow she managed to convince me to to agree for free admission, which she said they would absorb, but I have to pay monthly payment $9.95. she was pushy and I was thinking that OMG I really need to expose my new company to many people for pushing my business on and I told her my card number. I took this risk first time in my life, usually I am cautious, and after that I was feeling so stupid and so angry at myself, my day was completely ruined with that stress, she billed me right away and in Canadian funds it was $10.5. The issue is not about 10 bucks, but the feeling that I was fooled, and especially when I read all these comments and for me it looked suspicious. She left her contact number, I called her back and wanted to cancel because I am not interested in USA connections, I am in Canada, but she replied that they work for Canada, though headquarter is in NY. Anyway I tried to calm down and to forget this unpleasant event, called bank to block my card from charging me by that organization....
and so surprisingly today I received email from them with interactive welcome kit..... Now I am so confused. I didn't have time to register there yet, but all that info package with contacts and address is included in their email.  Is there anyone who have had experience using their networking? How much it has been effective and safe? are there any opinions from members of that network? it is such a mess of various scam around us that you don't know where is truth and where is fraud...... After that stress that I went through yesterday I don't know if that really works and helpful for my business.....  obviously it is not serious approach  to register members over the phone in such a way..... I am still not sure if I should download and log in on their site and if it is safe.....
Will highly appreciate sharing the experience of the member of that network.

The call display showed "631" from Nathaniel santana who says he was from Sandford Who's who.  He asked a couple of questions that seem respectable about my professional accomplishments then he said I could be honored as a receipitant of Sandford Who's who.  He wanted $778 then he lowered it to $330 and he would not be willing for me to call him back tomorrow.  He wanted an answer/credit card right away.

I received an early morning call from S. Manchino. My womanly instinct told me to pause after I said yes to my email address which is in my resume in LinkeIn. I asked him to call back, he called and I asked for his number to call him back when I am able to talk. My womanly instinct directed me to check the number in scam numbers. Here I am. Another assurance that first instincts are correct, in most cases.

I am in Vancouver, BC.  I got a call from this number today.  As I was in an area that network signal was quite weak for my cell phone company, I didn't really listen clear what company that lady represented.  She called my name correct.  She told me that she got my application of whatever and would like to do an interview over the phone for several minutes by answering some questions.  When I asked what company she called from, she said she couldn't hear from me clearly.  While I asked why I needed to do an interview, the phone got disconnected - because of the network problem.  Oh, thank for the weak network signal!  Then I googled this number & found someone querying LindedIn.  I remembered that I never put my resume there, so I logon to check my profile.  Then I realized that how she found my cell #.  It is on my company link I put on!  I would say it's no use to file a complain to LindedIn as how can it knows who make use of those information.  There are so many people upgrade their package to get a full review of all others' profile.

I got 3 called from Stanford Who's Who from NY.

For the first time I didn't realize it was a scam until the lady asked me pay $$$ to be *** member, when i ask her send a email for me to get to know more about membership, she said they didn't have and never send email, which made me assure it is online scam.

For the second time, i am on the meeting and let them not call back again.

For the third time, I asked the number and name of the lady, which is +1 631 650 2140 and the lady name is Babett Placero.

If Stanford University saw this message, hope the university pay more attention to this scam, otherwise it will affect your university image world-wide.

Didn't pick up an "Unavailable No" call on my home and cell this morning.  Then listened to the voicemail message left on my cell.  Left a very unclear message which sounded like "Ho Soon Canada" but after read these posts, realise he probably said "Who's Who Canada".  "Hi, this is David Shapell calling from Who's Who Canada.  We've got your profile and would just like to make sure it is correct before we pubilsh it.  Please call me back on 1-631-650-2140 at your convenience".  He had my name correct and everything!  I'm currently searching for a job and have applied for countess ones so it would not have been unusual for someone to have made this request.  I'm cynical though and didn't call back!  Thanks for the info on this website - looks like I have avoided a potentially bad situation.  Hope this helps someone else avoid the same potential situation.  Of course, if THIS site is a scam, then I'm sure David Shapell will call me back!

Hello all!  I actually received a phone call from Stanford Who's Who back in August.. I was very skeptical but I figured... Hey, 9.95 not to bad? right? .  I googled Stanford Who's Who Scam and a couple different things popped up.. Which really freaked me out at this point..  But I actually noticed that many of the complaints were from people who were upset they got a phone call... Not to many were from people who said they were members but didn't like the product.. So again, Still very skeptical at this point.. I received my package a couple weeks later and logged on... I'm a real estate broker and I actually made a couple of contacts in my area so far.. One big contact was the owner of about three apartment complexes throughout Florida! Now I'm his broker! JackPot!  So anyway... Whether it is a scam or not.  That definitely made it worth it! Good Luck!!!
