Got message from Christy. Called back talked to Jason Kennedy (POOR ENGLISH), tells me there is a criminal complaint in my name in Texas. He won't provide details but insists that my employer will be notified the next days, and that I will be arrested. I told him to go ahead and do it- I prefer that over dealing with you. I called back again today- but the call back number (631-657-7289), says it is not a working. THEN I received a call from +63 16577289 saying they had a missed call from me.

Looks these people are in the Philippines- everyone needs to file an FTC complaint

You are so welcome Alexa. Since all of this happened I have not received another call from these people. I did call the one payday loan company that I used, which was paid in full over a year ago, just to make sure my account was clear. They said that my account was fine and that they have been getting calls from previous customers saying that they owe money. They have even created a department to keep track of these complaints. The part that upsets me most is that they got my boss on the phone and started threatening her as well. Forturnately we are friends, but it still never should have happened. Take care Alexa.

I posted about this type of call before.  Like most people have stated, I started getting these calls about 9 months ago or so during by bankruptcy.  I figured it was a collection company FOR the payday loan business who had sold my debt.  I don't think this is the case.  I believe these people (as someone previously mentioned) have access to the fact that a payday loan was taken out and delinquent for one reason or another.  Regardless if the debt was forgiven thru bk or paid off late, they are working a list they have someone got access to.  They are NOT the collection agency who is responsible or the owner of the debt.  They are an extortion racket.  Tell these people the next time they call that you googled them and you know they are a fraud.  They will hang up and not call back.  That is what I did.  They called on 6/1/11 and argued with me at work and scared me to the point where I actually called the collection agency WHO DID buy my payday loan.  This payday loan was accidentally forgotten on my bk so I guess I technically owed it.  When I called and settled the debt, I only had to pay 120 or 255.  That is how a collection agency who is legit works.  They don't try to make THOUSANDS of dollars off a couple hundred dollar loan. They will USUALLY TAKE LESS money, not more to settle the debt.
I called the number back at 631-657-7289 and told them on 6/1/11 that I had settled the debt and the woman I spoke with said DON'T CALL HERE AGAIN.  Very professional???  
Then on 6/2/11, I got a call at work first thing in the morning from a man from the same number listed again.  I told him, "I googled your number and you are a scam".  Have not heard another word from these extortion artists.  I am pretty positive they will call back in 6-8 months as that seems to be their MO, but the next time, I won't be scared because I know who and what they are.
I might even mess with them some the next time around and waste some of their time, so they don't harrass unknowing people in that period of time.
I am scared for someone who is older, doesn't access the internet and feels a threat from these people.  I can only imagine the amounts of money they have scammed from people.  Something needs to be done about this.

they say they are a law firm and that i will have to go to court. They keep calling my cell and work. they are out of control the address they give in NY is a tow truck company and they dont have a fax #....

I had the same issue... they keep calling my job. there rude and when u ask who is sewing you they cant answer the questions...

I also received a phone call from this number on my cell and at my work, stating that it was an urgent financial matter... same message about having my attorney on record call.  WhenI tried to call back, it said I was unable to call from my area???

My husband just got a call from this number Tuesday. They told him he owed $1,095 for a small payday loan of like $300.00. The guy's name was Jason Kennedy and also had a heavy accent. He kept demanding that my husband pay $300 within an hr and didn't get the clue we didn't have that money. He kept him on the phone for like an hr. So I got the number for our attorney and we told him to call our attorney.

He says I have too many cases to contact, have your attorney call me. He also said that there would be a subpoena waiting for him as well. I'm glad I found this web site and my husband gave him no money what so ever. He said he was calling from Department of Corporate Law and gave us an IP address to ping to try and find out who this payday loan is for. My husband has taken care of ALL of his payday loans from last year.

He also gave us this web site to ping it's www.cashpartnersofamerica.payday.com and an ip address of 99.53.65.97. But he wouldn't give us any other information. We have dealt with these payday loan collections before and they all have given us the proper information. Thank you all for this information!

I received several calls today at work and on my cell phone.  On my caller id for my cell & work the numbers 0000 show up.   The first caller was a guy said his name was "something ?? and then this lady called me I think she said her name was Christy Woods....it was really hard to understand him & her they both have a very heavy accent. They are stating that this a very sensitive matter and I or my attorney should contact them..blah..blah and if I didn't return the call they wish me luck.  WTH ???  not again.. I was getting these very same calls about 8 months ago.  They had stopped and now they have started again.  I'm so sick of this people, someone need to put a stop to these.  In the past they stated I owed a payday loan..not true, this time I'm not sure what they want, they are not leaving any information but that crazy message over and over.  I am not going to answer there calls anymore, because the first time I spoke to them and it got ugly at work for me.  The call back number he left is the following:  (631) 657-7289.

Hello Kat, I just received the same harassing phone call at my place or work. This individual with a heavy foreign accent advised me to provide my attorney information because of a case of check fraud against me. i panic at first, then he mentioned a payday loan and then he started mentioning how many laws I violated by using my work computer ans applying for a payday loan. The loan was for $300.00 and he was charging me $5500.00. I looked up the clerk of courts of my county and there is no pending actions against me, nor I have received any letters whatsoever regarding this matter. I am contacting the states attorney office to report this people and the sheriff's office and also the Better Business Bureau. This is harassment and is a violation of our civil rights. No matter if the debt is legit or not, these people are not to contact you at your place of employment have no right to harass you.  Thanks to your post , I was able to better understand the intentions of these crooks with this type of phone calls.

I too received a call like this at my place of employment.  Saying they were serving me a subpoena and that I could just 'show up' at court to respond.  They obviously do not have any sense of the judicial system and the way things work.  I too was told I would owe over $5k for this small payday loan I received back in March 2009.  I claimed bankruptcy in 11/2009 and this small 255 payday loan was left off by my bk attorneys who are now insolvent.  Anyhow, I called and settled the 255 debt for 120.  I am tired of the harrassment at my place of business and my cell number constantly.  120 bucks to me is worth my piece of mind.  I then called the number back, 631-657-7289 and told them I had just settled my debt and they continued to tell me that I could go to the court house tomorrow and just show the judge I had paid.  I was like why would i go to the court house when I haven't even been served a subpoena.  It is obvious they try to play on people's fears and they use bullying tactics.

friend of mine just got that call. they started to read him his rights. informed him of criminal charges he is facing. ive been a police officer, never have i heard of an collection agency reading someones Miranda warning. They claimed he owe money from an online payday loan. once they claimed to have deposited to his bank account. wouldn't give a exact date only year. after viewing his bank account finding no deposits from them. he called back up informing the people that there never was a deposit of said amount. they got hostile on the phone informed him they were going to have him arrested at his work. then hung up on him.

My son just got the same call, was screamed at for 27 minutes.  He's freaked out and verified all the information they asked him - now we're going to have to get his soc sec # flagged.  Oy, teenagers believe anyone.  Thanks PTR for that Suffolk County police number.  We'll be filing a report ASAP.

I just received the same call about 30 min. ago. The first person I spoke with said her name was Rachel Johnson. Then she transfered me to a Charles Green. They said I owed a payday loan from a year ago but would not give me any other information. They asked for the name and number of my attorney. The said I would be arrested on monday and that I owe five thousand dollars. They did however say that I could clear this up out of court today for $1349.00. When I said I'm not paying that kind of money without knowing who is sueing me, he said that my employer was also going to be arrested. I hung up the phone and he called back 3 times. Fortunately we have an attorney that we can call to check it out for us. We did a conference call and all of a sudden Charles Green was not available and Rachel Johnson did not want to talk to my attorney after all.

I just got that same call no less than 9 min ago. The voice of the caller is a machine this has to be a scam.

They are accussing me of fraud and claim that they are going to have me picked up for court from my place of work. They have all of my personal info, social, address, place of work. I've seen simialar cases from New York area codes that are scams.
