Called asking for my spouse. Gave name as Melinda Gomez but had an Asian accent.

Was attempting to collect an apparent debt from 2005. I've researched scammers like this in the past and what they do is they purchase *very* old "write-offs" from various organizations for pennies on the dollar, and attempt to collect using threats for the gullible. Even if you pay $10 for a $5000 debt, they still come out ahead: you've legitimized it and they've made money. DO NOT PAY or offer to set up payment arrangements, etc.

They cannot add it to your credit report, take you to court, or whatever else they threaten. The most they can do is call...and call...and call. You can block the number instead of depending on the Do Not Call list. Most smartphones and carriers offer that option.

You could also report to the FCC as well to get them shut down.

Bottom line is: ignore. Don't let them get under your skin.

You should give their telephone number, address and fax number to every tele marketer and solicitor every chance you get.  Let them see how it feels to be harassed by strangers.

these people called me  on my mother's  phone and left a message threatening legal action if I didn't call them back.  they didn't say who they are or what they want.  I know that I don't owe money to anyone in New York,  plus they used my maiden name,  wich i haven't gone by in almost 6 years.  it reeks of a scam

They will try to scam you claiming that you owe do accounts

I received a call from this same number.  First, the rep would not identify who she represented.  They were trying to contact someone with same surname as mine.  They wouldn't say how they  got my number.  So, I  assumed this was another agency who is trying to harrass people about some bill, and they go on a fishing expedition.  I told the arrogant person, I would forward a complaint to the AG's   of NY and my state.  Her reply was, do that. Then, I  knew this was a sweat shop operation, which uses  intimidation to collect money.

So, I'm also  contacting the Dept. of Justice.

I keep getting calls from this number.  It is a recorded message that gives a reference number and tells me to call 888-755-5542.  I have ignored the calls, but yesterday, they called my workplace.  I have no idea how they got that number.  So I called the 888 number from my work phone, a woman answered, I asked what company it was and she would not tell me so I hung up. These are scammers.

Yea they keep calling me trying to reach someone I may know.   They got rude and smart with me. I told them to remove my name from the calling list.  I am now working with the NY State Attorney General's office and the also the AG's office in the State that I live in  also.  I HOPE they keep calling me!  The calls are being recorded and well documented......... Hey Mr. CS Processing employee, I know you read this....keep calling!!

Some kind of scam - 20+ years ago I rented to a woman, they called me for her wouldn't say who they were, why, etc, whatever these people are up to it is no good, probably trying to collect bogus debts.

Don't know who that is nor do I answer the phone to unknown numbers. I've never called the number back.
I don't see any company name or hear a name in the message left on my phone.

They have now called me twice, early in the morning.  No voicemail left.  I would like to call them (untraced) to see what is the deal.  I wll give them no info, and only seek infomration about the company and what "debt" they think they have associated with my #.  Wish me luck.

CS Processing calls my home phone every day at 8:30 in the morning. Their # is 631-755-5542. They are looking for someone who we don't know.  How do we stop this?

This number, as stated above, is a company that tries to collect debts that have been paid. They attempted to have me pay a US bank account that I had when I was 19. I'm 30 and that account had been closed for a negative balance of -$13. I ended up paying around $220 to get it taken off my credit 9-10 years ago. Don't pay these people, make sure you record your conversation with them (and let them know you are doing it), tell them to stop the calls and refuse to send them any documentation that the debt was paid. Those documents contain personal info and I am assuming that is exactly what they are trying to collect. Also, what finally got them off the phone for me is when I told them I would be sending the cease and desist letter from 'Timothy' in the above comments. Good luck!

For the past several weeks I have been receiving calls from unkown as well as this number back to back and have no idea who this is or what they want.

I keep receiving calls from that same number.  They even left messages since few weeks ago.

Press 3 during the recorded message and tell them they have the wrong number and they need to remove you from their list.

I received a call from them just a little while ago - they were looking for someone else.  I told them to take my number off their list but now I am wondering...  If they are indeed fraudulent callers, I might have given them my name via caller ID.  Has anyone had the same experience and received calls after that?

they call me a lot but not just this number---there are others. i got a call about 4 years ago from someone like this, they kept harassing me, so i 'gave in'. i shouldn't have, now i keep getting calls...

just got a call from this number asking me to call 8886621778 saying its a personal matter with such case#. there's got to be a way to get these people to stop calling and scaring people.

They call frequently, once a day for the past six weeks. For my Daughter.She as not lived with me for yrs.
They have a Cases # for her,She call them and they tried to scam her, she was to smart for them.When she tried to get info from them they would not tell her wear they was calling from.

It's a debt collector calling for our 27 year old son. I have talked with them twice asking they remove our number & stop calling here. Today they called twice in about 5 minutes. I answered the 2nd call and the lady was very nice, asked my number for confirmation and she said the calls would cease. Of course they asked for the number for my son and I declined to give it.

was getting calls from 631-247-9920. Now they call from 631-755-5542. CS my husband called the Bank to which they say the account belonged with. There is no account with them.  he also called the sherriffs department. They told him not to answer the phone. Let them leave a message. He now is giving them a count to three to stop.  you are supposed to tell them on the phone and in writing to stop calling.  After 3 times it becomes harrassement. every call after that if they call you could win $5,000 per call. keep track you may get a bundle of money if they take you to court.

I argue with these mfs all the time. Its become fun for me. Ive yelled at the top of my lungs every time theyve threatened court. I dont think they realize its ILLEGAL for them to threaten court action if they dont plan on doing it. Theyre a fraud company, I had a lawyer check. So now I just get rude back because they WONT STOP. Theyve called almost every day since May, I have all the voicemails ever left. If I knew i could collect on them,  they would have been sued.  Lawyer said wed be wasting our time. So...they wont stop...I suggest you take your bad days out on them...its stress relief.

these ppl call me at 755 in the morning, and after 6 pm at night, harrassing me after i have told them to stop calling me on several occasions, they are telling me they are taking me to court on a old bill that has reached its statues of limitations and i cant not be sued for soemthing that is older than 5 yrs old where the bill is coming from.... this happened back in 2003.. i want to kno how a 200 dollar bill became a 1000 dollar bill, telling me they can take 740 dollars today and the bill can be paid in full, well if i told them if i decide to pay anything the most i can pay is 5 dollars a month, and they turned that down and said they can only take 50... well guess what take that 50 stick it up ur a** cuz once i make an offer, and u turn down that payment, im paid in full... but now i have told them to quit calling me for two weeks now and they are still calling me 4 to 6 times a day and its getting annoying.. im at wits end

It is a company called Credit Smart LLC out of New York. These are not the first type of scam artists I have dealt with. What you want to do is get as much info as possible. If you can't get the information, then what you do is send a letter via certified mail signature required. Yes, it costs money, but it documents that when they received the letter, you have a signature associated with it and they can't say they never received such letter if you send it regular postal mail.

Then, when it comes to enforce your right as a debtor, you can request that they stop contacting you, that the debt is no longer valid and they can't collect on that said debt. They have thirty days to validate the debt.

I added that they cannot contact myself, family members and employer. Such would deem harassment and subject to legal actions against their company.
