got same message as David: partial message implying previous relationship. Indicating I was late on credit cards and should call as soon as possible to get interest rate changed to 1.5%. Never said what company they were with or who they were calling for.

Dec 7th got a partial voicemail, as though the telemarketer has started speaking before voicemail was ready... all that I could interprest was that it was "pretty important to call back so we can get you on that program" with a follow up call number of 800 977 2901. Ignored, haven't rec'd a second call.

Odds are the scammers are just randomly dialing numbers. They don't need a list of real phone numbers when a computer can just sequence through area codes and numbers very quickly. There are only so many combinations of 7 digits, so it's a matter of time before they can theoretically call anyone. If they call 281-775-1234 and get a fax machine or a disconnected or out of service number, they just move on to 281-775-1235.

Received a call Monday morning, Dec. 07, 2009. They called my cell phone, I've never placed my number on the internet or given it to any company, so my cell phone company has sold their list with my number is the only way. Since I never setup the voice mail they can't leave me a message, saves me minutes that way.
In the past week I've gotten four calls from numbers I don't recognize & those are the numbers I don't answer.
Unless someone in my family or one of my friends gave out my number, in any case I need to find out how they got my number, then give someone a solid foot to a*** speech.

Same thing happened to me. Very few people have my cell number, less than 5 and when it rang it was a lady, automated message about lower credit card debts, and I have no credit cards. It is a scam calling numbers randomly. This should be against the law!!! oh yea, the number comes up as 636-614-2902 but if you try to call it back, it states "number has been changed or disconnected"

I answered the phone here at my work in Indiana.I heard nothing but silence. So I hung up the phone. Then I tried making a call and it wouldn't let me cause they were still on the line for over 5 minutes. It angered me so that's why I decided to see who it was and now I'm reading all this WOW!

Got a call, missed it. A woman left a voice mail about reducing credit card debt(which I have none). She made it sound like I had talked to her about it before, which I obviously have not, then gave a "1-800" number to call back. I'm not even going to bother but I am curious how they got my number?
(Callback was to 1-800-977-2091)

Received a vmail - 12/7/2009 @ 3:55PM EST
It was a woman who acted like she'd spoken to me before. She said "Sorry it has taken a little while for me to get back to you. It has been really busy here. As I look over your paperwork I think I can lower your interest rate to as low as 1.5% and cut those monthly payments down for you, get you out of debt sooner. It is pretty important that you call me back so I can get you started on that program. The number is 1-800-977-2091."
She never said her name or the name of her company.

credit card companies sell their phone lists thats how they get your number. Or even if you ordered something online usually those places send you emails about their latest deals after you buy well with your phone number these type of people buy the list in hopes of of getting someone to fall for thier fraud.just like you recieve emails from places you dont noramlly shop since these places buy the emailing list off other stores.
