Scamming people and saying I am awarded 9200.00 grant!

I have been getting calls the last two weeks. First call was from a San Francisco peninsula(408-520-972-"1), applying for jobs in that area, I decided to answer phone just incase. Telling me I am awarded 9200 dollars for paying my bills on time, good credit, now criminal. He asked for 213.00 on a money pack, as tempting as it was, I declined. Today I get a call from a Florida number(786-404-1419) telling me I am awarded 9200 and I just need to send 100 dollars. I told him about the other call and he played dumb. I told him the govt does not grant award mo eh via phone or email, u have to apply. Then he says its not a grant, that I have this money comi g to me for paying my taxes on time. I told him he should be ashamed of himself and figure out how to make an honest living and that scamming people is awful. He proceeded to tell me be had no idea who called me before and it's a coincident that someone else called with the same exact amount and he swears he is not scamming me at all. Whatever, these guys are manipulative and take advantage of vulnerable people. I just wrote a rent  he k with move in fees(1400 dollars) so of course their timing was impeccable and I am not going to lie, I wanted it to be true:( don't fall for this, it is a scam!

I just got a called today saying that they conducted a survey in California and determined I was granted with 7875dlls from the Federal Reservetion bank of New York.  They called from this number 202-787-1393. The person claimed to be Veronica Jolie, even her acent was not American.  They asked for 75dls to ensure the mailing process which according to that person I would receive it by midnight.

I just received a call from 202-470-3524 (District of Columbia), trying this same scam.NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!!!!

Received 10 unknown number calls today.  I answered everyone and no response, finally on the call I was about to tell someone off for not talking, a lady with an "indian" accent asked if it was me, but using my nickname -- no one but my friends call me that, so that's when I knew there was an issue from the get-go.  So I asked who was speaking, she didn't give me a name but let me know that I was going to receive $9200 grant from the government.  I wasn't falling for it, however curiosity came over me and I decided to listen to what she had to say.  She gave me a long speech about how I deserve this money and I should accept it.  she then game me an Acct ID number and her Acct Mgr's phone number (2026979636) to call back and I would have my money in 30 minutes.
If you can't tell this is a scam, there is a problem.  Please don't call and give these people any money...i'm sure if this were a legit government grant, they would send you a letter in the mail and a paper check, and not do this over the phone or request money.

they are using another number now they are calling from 206-801-1737 and having you call the fake bank at 626-403-4779. they just got me for $200. They are using green dot money pack cards to scoop you in and just as fast as you put it on the card they are taking it off don't fall for it I should have know better the government doesn't give anything away for free

Thank you for the information. They are back on board with the scamming. Watch out for these numbers 865-6696 and DC number 202 470-1647.
They will send you the money when you pay them. Totally insane.

Just received a call from Shara Watson her # was 1-347-166-5879 she stated I had been randomly selected by The Government to received 7000 told to call another# 202-600-8694 to give my grant # and they would get some other info and I could pick up the money at Western Union I never even called this doesn't even sound right

I am upset I have lost money thinking it was a gift receive a grant of 9,200 but no it was a scam they asked me for a 300$ deposite so I did n then ask for a 395 deposit and then 485 and now they said I have to send 900 for tax but I have not sent that 900 I'm upset I really thought I would recieve this money but no I will not give anymore money lost my money that I could be feeding my family

Thomas renfroe over there is the name of my husband who is in  a very big and serious scam, he would never accept they are scam, i need your help to end this he has also sent this f****ng federal reserve bank  scammer 2600usd today making it about 7000usd he had already you have to help me put a stop to this in anyway necessary,do you want his information??

This is also happening now via Facebook. My Mom was sent a message that she's going to receive a lot of gifts and that they need phone number so the forwarder can contact her for the delivery of goods (includes signature bag, gold watch, etc). I told my mom to give my cell number. In a matter of seconds, my phone was already ringing from phone number+60 16 646 6174 and then the guy is telling me that to receive the gifts i need to send money to Michelle Ramos Gonzaga with adress at 10 tun razak cheras kl, malaysia, through Western Union. Asking for $400US and once it's sent they can ensure the package will be receive immediately. How can that be if it's coming from Malaysia? This is the time I figured out this is a scam. So beware.....

Just got a call from a female who spoke broken English (not that, that was suspicious now-a-days) and she told me the U.S. Gov't wanted to give me $9,200.00 for not have faulted on any loans and never filing for bankruptcy.  My first thought was how can this be possible w/the debt that the Government is already in?  The last thing they need to be doing is giving money away w/o a catch!  So, I kept the girl on the line while I Googled the possible scam and sure enough, SCAM!  The female on the line told me she would be transferring me to the U.S. Treasury Dept. for the money to be deposited into any of my accounts.  I figured at this point I would put her on the hot seat and asked her "how do I know this is not a scam?"  She said she'd put me on the line w/her supervisor.....waited for about a minute and had nothing on the other end.  Hung up w/o my $9,200.00 :(  But, I didn't lose any $$$$ either ;)

I just received another call stating that the government was giving out $9200 grants to people who rent and are single parents. I replied that i am not a single parent(i am married!) and was told "oh, thats ok. Its for you too". Then he wanted my checking or savings acct # to deposit the funds. I kindly told him to eff off and hung up!

I just got this phone call but as soon as she said i needed to give her money to get the money i knew it had to be a scam thank god i didnt giver her any of my bank info. She called me from a 206-317-1478 number.

These crooks just did the same thing yesterday. The told me i got a grant worth 7500 dollals i just had to send 289 dollars. Than when i sent it they called me back and said the state wanted 652 and was stupid enough to send it to them. After this they told me my money was at the western union store but i had to pay the 900 they wanted for security purposes. In case the funds never came through. I just wish i.would have researched more becauae im just an average american who doesnt have 2000 laying around. Dont let these people do the same to you

Someone called me from a 0000000000 number then told me to call 202 621 0436 than i won a grant from the government of 7,000 dollars and that i need to go to walmart at money gram and make a security deposit of 280,00 dollars he say his name was Steven King but i didnt believe him cause in my mind if u receive anything it wouldnt cost u until u cash  it but i am tired of being lied to by people like that i dont like bringing my hopes up and they get stepped on

In order to qualify for a government grant, you must have first applied for one. You will not be asked to pay any money for one, and the government does not contact you to offer one. This is a scam.

I was about to get scammed yesterday. I got a call around 11:00am and a lady named Gina told me that I had won a 7,000 grant from the government. I wasn't convinced but I loved the fact that I had won soo much money. So this lady said that I had to pay $285 cash to western union through a rite aide store. So since I was super excited I did as she said she told me to call her when I got to the rite aid I had taken $285 from my bank account because she said it needed to be in cash I did it and then she told me send it to "lissy lissy" a "charity" in "India" so I was soo excited I did it. She told me if they ask u if u know the receiver tell them u do so u dont have to pay more money. So I did and then she told me to pay the rite aide and my transaction was made. Then I had to call (646)-863-6111 and to give them my account # for my bank and then I begin to wonder why does she need my bank account # when I gave them all my card #s and I still gave them my account #. Then my friends told me it didn't seem right since the govt doesn't give money just for the heck of it so I was really mad at myself . I searched the Internet and it showed both the #s as scammed #s . I got even more upset . So I rapidly called my bank and cancelled every # I had given them. So I was happy that got fixed. But I still lost my $285 so I was still upset. Then late at night it occurred to to look at the receipt I had been given by rite aide. It had a number from western union and I called it i gave them the mtcn # on the receipt then they told me the transaction money hadnt been collected yet by the receiver. So I told them my whole situation and they said we can stop the transaction and we can send it back to u. I was soo happy i got a new mtcn number and collected my money at the same place I sent it from. So they almost got me but they didn't. cjorge82@yahoo.com is my email if u got any questions. Funny, I had just read a post about this earlier in the day (yesterday) and whada you know I get a sound like phone call. I also was on my toes because of another scam I was taken for in my business (adverstising).

I answer the phone and hear what sounded like thousands of people in the background talking. I hear an abrupt sounding man as if I was___________? "How can I help you I asked" knowing to never answer yes to these types of phone calls (google it). "Halo, is this ________?"
"What do you need ?" I ask.
I am fully aware of what is about to happen, and eager to play the game.

"Hallo, If this is--------  you have been qualified for a grant of free money $7,500 that you do not have to pay because you paid your taxes. Thank you and where can I send it to your bank?"  
"I've been qualified for what?, Why"
Repeat
"Oh", I say "I hear everyone in the background. I just heard somebody else say that another person was getting money, you mean I'm not the  only lucky one?"

"NO------- you only get 7,500 for your school or whatever you want. ----------- how can I send this to your bank"

"I don't think its fair I'm not the only one! I never get to be the only one! I hate to share, I had a twin and it was always share, share share! Not fair. She doesn't get the free money, does she?"

yeah,They told me I was approved for$8,000400. Good thing I did call and ask someone.I pull up this website And she these complaint were people have been B***s*** by that organization.... I'm sorry that it Happend to Yall.

I got a call from some unknown number stating that there is a grant of $9200 waiting for me to pick up. They said its a reimbursement of my taxes that would be transferred to a nearby location of Western Union. They even gave me a reason why I was selected for the grant.
I was to go to the Western Union location, call them up from there and then make a security deposit of $290 (which they say they would reimburse along with the grant of $9200). The security deposit, they said, was to verify my photo identity. That makes me think these guys are trying to steal ones identity as well. If anyone has provided any such information, please ensure that you are not a victim of identity theft.

I had gotten a flurry of calls from the number 1-730-102. This is probably a call from the internet and that a physical landline or mobile doesnt exist. The person who spoke to me was Paul something(dont remember if he gave me his last name). I was asked to call another number 315-636-5262 and someone by the name Jason picked up the call and explained to me the whole process of how to get the grant. I was just playing around and didnt give them any bank account info, infact I even misspelt my name when I gave it to them. They didnt seem to verify anything as regards the spelling of my name goes.

I told them I would go to a Western Union branch and then call them. The guy also asked me if I can do the security deposit using my bank account now, and I told him that I dont have the money. He said its fine and asked me to call him back from the Western Union branch when I get there.

One other thing I also noticed while talking to Paul and Jason is that there was a lot of background noise. So, may be these guys have some sort of an office kind of location setup to make these calls.

Like one of the users above has indicated, no one can get such money without working for it. There may be some genuine federal grants, but this one isnt. Please dont get lured into these with the thought that you could make some easy or free money (these dont exist!!).

Hope this post would be helpful to those that were contacted in a similar fashion as explained above.

Its true!! They just called my dad... They are a bunch of scams and rats! They told him that it was the New York bank and that he won $9000 but they needed $400 for a security deposit to put the money in a reset card within 15 minutes! Thats when i saw this page and luckily took the money out on time!! Then the next day they called again from a guy named Brian Anderson with this # (202)470-1411 saying that if we didnt put back the money we were going to lose the offer!!!! They are scams trying to take money away from people!! Dont let them fool you, they try to persuade you but its too good to be true, thank god for this page and the people who left a message here!
