I received a call today from this number, but they did not leave a message.  I looked it up and found out it was from Career Network, and it is a scam.  They must have found my info from a resume i posted at Monster.com from several years ago.  I have tried numerous times to remove that resume, thinking each time I try that I finally removed it.  Yet, I keep getting calls like this one every once in awhile.  They want you to give them your personal information to sell to others and they are trying to get you to sign up for college classes.  I have not been job hunting or on Craigslist in YEARS, so they are really searching for info.

I just got called from this number again from a Craigslist application two weeks ago.  I'm wondering if I can report it to the police?  The no call list is no good for things like this because the job ad directed me to their website and I filled in my information, thinking it was job application related, not education related.

"Career Network" called me asking to go through a 25 minute job application verification for a job I applied for a month ago.

The red flags are:

1) I went on an interview for that company and was later told they hired someone else.

2) It's a long distance number.

3) If they're for real they should be calling your former employers for verification, not you.

Got a call from this number today & the girl said she was from Career Network & it would take 45 minutes to verify the info I submitted for a job.  Said she didn't know the name of the company I applied to....I told her I would call her back and then googled the phone number & saw all of these posts.  Glad I checked this out since I'm desperately looking for a job & didn't want to pass one up if it was legit.

I got an exact same type of call, but from a different number. It must be the same company location with a different extension since it was 646-360-1690.

What happend to Salty Santa Fe was exactly what I did. I applied to a job through Craigslist and it led me to signing up for some sort of school. THAT school must be behind this SCAM!!!

I received a call last week.  Didn't have time to talk then so I called them back today.  I was on hold when I first started reading these posts.  I hung up real quick.  I had applied at Career Network for several jobs.  What a let down.

Got a call, ignored it, called it back, some girl asked me to hold, I heard her read my phone number to someone else and they were looking me up. I hung up. They called me back fro another number 646-360-1703. I picked up the phone and stated "NOT INTERESTED, THANK YOU." and hung up again. I have not received a call back.

I just dealt with them today and the main complaint I have is that I was calling in for a job and got "sold" an online degree opportunity. Right now the last thing I can afford is an online education. Even with financial aid. I was simply trying to interview for a job.

Where does this happen anywhere else? I applied for a job online. I was asked to call in for evaluation. I never would have called in if I knew I was going to be on the phone for 30 mins talking about furthering my education. They had me "trapped" because I felt the need to be nice so I wouldn't loose the job opportunity, which is the reason I was calling in for to begin with. I felt like I was a captive audience. We only spent 3-4 mins talking about the job and all of a sudden I was swung into talking about education. It was like a slick used car sales pitch. I was on the phone with the "education advisor" before I realized what was going on.

I can't see an employer hiring a company to evaluate potential employees if the main motive of the company is to sell them education. Wouldn't that take away from the potential job they are applying for? If I was a business that needed employees I certainly wouldn't hire this company. They aren't looking out for my needs, they are trying to fill seats in school. I believe that the job is BS and they company isn't even working with an employer. You(CN) may work with them and you may be told that it is submitted to a database that is sent to the employer, but I think they are lying to you. I live in Portland, OR. You are based out of FL. What company out here is going to hire a FL based business to find employees?

I guarantee I don't get a call back from a hiring company, even though the woman I talked with said I was the perfect candidate. I guarantee this is just a "lead generating" scam, and is not affiliated with an actual employer. Prove me wrong and get me a job offer!

I have a missed call from this number on my cell phone this afternoon! Did not answer since I am at work & did not know the number. I've been applying to jobs on craigslist...I'm guessing it is some kind of scam, since that is what everyone else is reporting. Checked voice mail, no message left, hung up.

I received a phone call from 6463601659. But, they didn't leave a message! So, I guess it wasn't that important. I had to navigate it, just to see who was calling me. I applied online, but only to local jobs around here. I am just going to ignore the call next time they decide to call me.

I think they can be sued for takin gyour information for false purposes. I think it is really crappy that people are screwing with people trying to look for a job. I am getting calls from that number and my caller ID says that it is from New York and I live on the other side of the country, I dont know any east cost folks.

Well I guess I should have googled the number before I called them back.  I spoke with a guy who told me the call could be monitored for quality assurance, I was taping that fool too!  Well anyway, I inquired about the alleged job and he said all he could tell me was that the position was in a 20 mile radius from my home.  Yeah right.  I applied over a month ago and it was found on indeed.com which routed me to another site.  They even checked my references via email which made me believe it was a real job.

I think it's horrible that people are using the desperation of job seekers to their advantage during such difficult times in our country.  I'm taking the advice of someone on here and calling the Federal Trade Commission to report this.

Thanks everyone for your input.

This number called me today and I called the Attorney General's office to report them.  Call the Attorney General's consumer protection division and report them if you get a call.  They said they were with Career Network and were verifying employment information, but this is a pure scam.  DON"T GIVE ANY INFORMATION TO THESE PEOPLE

They called me about a job, career network, after I applied for a job through my email. It appears that they are trying to get you to enroll into an online university. 321-249-1490 they tell you to call this number, Education Connectio n. They told me that I need to call the 321 number to get a degree, I told them that I have 2 bachelors(business & education), 2 masters(business & education), and a Ed.D. and a PHD in psychology, they still said I need a degree in order to get hired. This is a scam...

I received a voicemail message from the same number.  There was something in the caller's tone of voice that was dubious, enough to make suspect that it was scam as I now learned from this forum.  The caller left a voicemail message and identified herself as Jesicca from Courier Network.  She said that I applied for a position from one of their clients, which remained confidential until I would have gone through the interview process.  It is sad that there are people who mind their days scamming innocent individuals.
