I received this same type of call and the guy has a heavy Indian Accent and said his name is James Parker.  But, didn't leave any information of what it's about.  And didn't leave a company name or anything.  Said my job is in jeopardy and my home address that I should expect a legal person to be there.

I'm in AZ and have an AZ cell number.  The guy who called today knew my name.  He then started threatening in a manner similar to the other instances reported here.  I captured two return calls they made to me which I had chosen not to answer.  On the third call from them I answered and after a minute of hard to understand jibberish. I told the guy this sounded like a scam and I said I would hang up and did.  2 minutes later another call from them.  Sounds like they are reading from a script.  I could hear other callers in the background.

Lord, you are so correct Cheryl.  These people are live crooks and I don't see how people could work for anybody that practice unethical.  They have no conscious.  But when it happen to them, they are ready to do eveything they can to stop it.  I just wish I could get to them.  They are calling from landlines and mobile cell because I followed up on these numbers.  SO SAD and ridiculous.  We work too hard for our money, and with the economy the way it is, people will act a fool about their money, like me $ $ $  These calls started coming after I inquired and actually did an online payday loan.  OMG, never again.

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Some fraudsters have instructed victims to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain amount, on a specific date, via a pre-paid Visa card. The statement further declares the victim will never dispute the debt.

If you receive these calls, do not follow the caller?s instructions. Rather, you should:

?Notify your banking institutions.
?Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file.
?Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger.
?File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.
Tips to avoid becoming a victim of this scam:

?Never give your Social Security number?or personal information of any kind?over the telephone or online unless you initiate the contact.
?Be suspicious of any e-mail with urgent requests for personal financial information. The e-mail may include upsetting or exciting but false statements to get you to react immediately.
?Avoid filling out forms in e-mail messages that request personal information.
?Ensure that your browser is up-to-date and security patches have been applied.
?Check your bank, credit, and debit card statements regularly to make sure that there are no unauthorized transactions. If anything looks suspicious, contact your bank and all card issuers.
?When you contact companies, use numbers provided on the back of cards or statements

This number has been calling all day my cell and my work.  I don't have any outstanding payday loan.  First the call was from Rick Brown, now Michelle Wms who both doesn't speak english well.  These callers are so rude and I guess they think they scare people.  Some they may, but me NO.  I told her the same thing I told Rick. You have been reported to Homeland Security and if you keep calling me I will track you down.  She said whatever and I wish you the best of luck and hung up.  Rick told me don't call him again and hung up.  I am contacting my bankig institution to see what's going on with my account if anything because I do see charges of 0 dollars and 7cents or 4 cents on my statement. When I asked them who was the client they are collecting for, I never would get an answer.  BIG SCAM and they are going to scare the living S_ _T out of some vunerable person.  They can bring it on.  I'm going to change my number this week.

Again I am getting these phone calls on my cell and at work.  I have already gotten in trouble for them calling my work.  This time he said his name is Forrest Green (in a very thick indian accent). That I owed on a payday loan and that criminal charges would be brought against me if i didn't pay today.  Does anyone know how I can get them to stop calling me at work? I told them last time that I could not get personal calls at work and he said" I will call every day until you lose your employment".  Anyone have any suggestions?

I received the same call (646-381-1992), and after I told him that I could not understand him, he transferred to a "supervisor", however it sounded like the same person got back on the phone.  I asked them about what loan they were talking about.  He said there would be criminal charges if I did not pay back the payday loan, however I had only looked at the quotes on the internet.  When I told him that I had not taken any loan out, he said that he could file criminal charges again.  I then told him that he sounded Indian or Nigerian, and this was a scam.  He then got very upset and said I am a scam.  So I told him that he called me, and not to call again.  He  got mad and called for days leaving angry messages.  After that I just answered the phone.... started hitting the number buttons to make noise and hung up for a couple of times when he called.  He stopped after that.  This is a scam folks.  Be careful who tries to collect yourmoney for the bills.  These people rip off the retired, the poor, the desperate, the honest, the innocent.  They are evil with no values or heart for others.

Got two phone calls, different day different guys. First caller was Daniel Smith with BCI (Bureau of Crime Investigation) Daniel Smith.  Caller #2 identified himself as James Parker.   Both very thick accents.  Both said I needed to call that it was urgent and should not be put off.  They wanted a call from my attorney.  If I didn't call, he was wishing me good luck as this situation unfolds before me.  That sounds like a threat to me.  So what can be done to stop them?

Receiving calls from 646-381-1996, indian accent, said Iowed money from a Pay Day loan and will meet me in court tomorrow. Originally he called my work Blackberry and left two messages for some guy named Jeff.  So me trying to do the right thing called the number back to tell them they had the wrong number and the person they were looking for was not at this number.  He ask me my name and I gave it to him and all of a sudden it was me that owed the money...wtf?

Then he proceeds to call me a fraud and a scammer.  When I asked to speak to a supervisor some pin head got on the phone saying he was Barack Obama and they were calling from the White House.

He would not discuss it with me to tell who it is where it's from, or who it's from...Just they'll see me in court.  We'll they'll be waiting a hell of a long time.

Pay day loan scam...regarding fraudulent attempt to collect money received from a pay day online loan wired into a checkig account.  This company  demands money and threatens tactics such as  filing a host of criminal charges including taking over your bank account.  Customers are calling the official pay day loan company regarding these scam artists.  The official pay day loan company is very aware of  this  fraudulent attempt to get money and reports if you're not a Kentucky resident you could not have received their  pay day loan money because money is only given on a walk-in application basis.

This number called me today claiming I needed to call or my attorney and it was very important, this isnt my first time dealing with this scam, and I recognized it right away, but then they called my wife, and threatened to call my work, Im so tired of this month after month of dealing with these type of scams, and to make it worse they have our personal information, something has to be done to end this, I report the number asap, and it gets disconnected for them to get a new one and start calling again, what ever you do don't pay these people, they will collect your money and disappear, there is nothing law enforcement can do once you pay them.
