I received a call from this number while I was at work.  The person calling had all of my contact information, including my social security number.  He stated that a lawsuit had been filed against me for defaulting on a payday loan. I know bad move on my part.  This guy was very rude.  I hung up on him and I'll be damned if he didn't call back and ask to speak with a manager.  Guess who the only manager on duty was?  Me, again I told this guy to loose my number and I have reported this incident to the company in question.  What an a**!

Received the same kind of message as Matt & Glena and this is not the first time they have called with different names and phones numbers.  I am keeping a log everytime they call and this has to stop.  I just hang up on them and ignore their threats.  They are imbicile thinking us Americans will pay them a dime.  I will never ever apply for a cash advance loan again because our information must have been sold to these jerks.  This is a criminal offense and they should be prosecuted for their actions.  I know for a fact that they are calling from an offshore country and buying cell phones and then disposing of them so we cannot trace them.  I have contacted the FBI, local police, FTC, Attorney General, but nothing can be done with these people.  If we could put a trace on their calls, but it is impossible on a cell phone.  They use fake names because they are all Indian decent like Jack Conrad, Mike Spikes, Moses Matthews, Dave Matthews, etc.

I got a call from this number saying they were from some investigations department.  they asked if i knew a specific co-worker.  I work as an independent contractor and there are several thousand employees.  after I told them I had no idea who they were asking about they asked me my name, I refused since they asked for me when I answered.  Also they are of middle eastern/Indian decent.  clearly not legit

No. They are in India or some other place where the rule of law is but an abstract idea.

The Indians calling from this number are phishing (i.e. trying to get your personal information so they can steal from you). If you give them your personal information, you will have your life turned upside down. Tell them they should become better acquainted with the English language, and begin their education with an explanation of what Hell is and that they'll be going there when their criminal lives are over.

Beware! If they have your number, it will never die. They used to call me a year ago when I made the foolish mistake of giving my number to a clearing house for a loan (which I never got). Just now got another call, from the same 'voice'. When he said '...Legal Department. How can I help you?' I politely replied, 'You can go to Hell. That would help a lot."

I just got a message on my answering machine at home from 646-389-0576  My daughter called me at work and played the message.  What I could get from the message was that it was a man asking for ****** and that a his name was George, could not understand his last name.  He said he was calling from Lowell Investigation Dept(not sure if that is the exact name) and that my ss# and address were under investigation and something about fraud.  I tried calling the number back from where I work and I get a busy signal and on my end it reads please try again later.  I will not try calling these people back glad I read the above posts.  Also I do agree the man sounded Indian or who knows what.  If this was legit who ever they work for should notify a person by certified mail or go through that person's state to file a small claims case.

Thanks for the info and hope whatever info I gave helps others.

I also got a call from this same number. I can barely understand the man because his accent is so strong and he sounds like he has a wad of newspaper in his mouth. Like someone else said, it sounds like he was in a loud room where they were making lots of calls. It sounds like he says his name is Samuel Brown and that he's calling from some federal department. After listening to the voicemails several times I believe he says a suit has been filed against me and my social social security number & other personal information is at risk. At first I was a little concerned but would never call the # back to get information because I believe any professional department would send certified mail or something of that sort. I just worry about them stealing money from innocent people who do not look into this first and are worried about protecting their credit. I'm just going to call my cell phone provider and have a block added from that number.

It's a total sham. These a-holes have been harassing me off and on for over a year. Don't pay any attention to it. I made the mistake of getting a cash loan a few years ago which I paid off and it's been nothing but headaches ever since.

Please let me know where this call originated if I get another one!  I am sure it is fake and they're harrassing me for nothing I can figure out.  I know they are scamming based on the feedback on ask and the internet sites I have visited.

Thanks for replying to this inquiry!  I knew they were not legit but I needed others to come forward so thanks for doing this for me!  Hopefully, they will leave me alone as they have left two voicemail messages and I haven't called them back as they sounded so ridiculous and without facts.

I too got a call from these Indians that told me an employee of mine owed them money and was committing fraud using me as a reference.  They wanted me to tell the employee to call them.  I asked specifics like name of the company, who I was speaking to and the answer was John Cooper working for Cash Advanced.  Whe I said I wouldn't tell the employee anything unless they gave me an account number, amount borrowed and on what date.

They hung up.  FRAUDS and making harrassing phone calls are illegal.

Prank Call
These people are clearly Indian and are in some sort of busy call center. Various individuals have called me from this number claiming to be from Johnson and Johnson Law Firm. When I asked where they were located, Mr. Generic American Name said they were in 'New York City, the City of Angels,' and claimed that he was calling on behalf of Cashnet USA in relation to a loan for $550 that I defaulted on. They claimed that Cashnet USA filed legal action against my name and social security number and unless I agreed to settle the dispute out of court (with the nice Indian people in New York over the phone), that I would be taken to court and made to pay a much larger amount (like $1700 or something crazy). When asked to provide any proof at all that a loan ever even existed in my name, they claimed that they would email me all of the evidence *after* I paid them. These people are a scam trying to scare honest, hardworking people out of their money. DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE. I told them to tell 'Cashnet USA' to take me to court because I knew there was never any such loan in existence and Mr. John Andrews or whoever this man was claiming to be abruptly hung up in my face.
