Got a text just now from this number asking for more information about my bedroom set. I am not going to respond. Thanks for some info. Keeping out of state buyers (potential scammers) out!

I am sooo happy I found this. They just texted us the exact same thing. We really want to get rid of our car so I was trying not to be skeptical. This help me tons.

Just received one last night on my car I had listed.  Pretty much the same as all listed above.

We put a pickup on Craigslist and got pretty much the same response as everyone listed here. The text was received about 5 a.m. They still haven't learned how to spell surprise. Grateful this list exists to confirm our suspicions.

Placed an ad on Craigslist to sell a SnapOn Tool Box and received the same text except said they were a "Patroleum Engineer" and currently off shore. Wanted to make a surprise purchase for their Father. Ask for my paypal account info. I felt sure it was a scam so I'm glad I found this website to confirm. Thanks to all above for your comments!

Got a text from this number claiming he was an oceanographer too.. Wanted to pay me using Paypal and ship him the item. I ignored his text. Definitely a scammer!! I guess enough people fall for this stuff that the scammers keep doing this.

I received the same text off a craigslist ad in November of 2012.  

Them: Do you still have the Item for sale:  Me:  Yes:  Them: Thanks for getting back to me.  Can you assure me that's its in good state and I will not be disappointed with it I'm ready to pay your asking price be honest, I wanted to buy this for my son and I want it to be a surprise gift but the issue is I'm an oceanographer and i do have a contract to go for which starts tomorrow and I'm on my way right now The contract is strictly no call due to the lack of reception on the sea area but Im able to ..."  end of text.

My Ad was placed in Southern California. 646 is a New York Area code.  That is a little odd that someone was contacting maybe from New York about a southern California CL car ad.

This thread helped to identify and confirm something is a miss  I responded with a message.
I received a reply that stated:

"I told you that I'm out of state, I'm off shore now, Pay Pal is reliable, secured, and a fast way to pay money online, moreover I don't have the money in CASH and I'm not around now, I can only pay via my VERIFIED  pay pal account  because I can't go around with such huge amount , if you don't have an account with Pay Pal kindly go to paypal.com you will be instructed on how to create a new account and get back to me when that is done Kindly send me your "  end of text.

We put a truck on Craigslist and got this same response, including immediately happy to pay asking price and ignoring OBO.   Same story.   surprise misspelled, etc.  Glad we found this to confirm our suspicions.    Thanks

Got the same message word for word over a item.     Don't fall for it.   it was all a scam.

Needless to say I did not respond so I think they just gave up, notice all the grammer mistakes, it is unfortunate that people really fall for this crap.
