Same story, oceanographer...wants to buy our car for his son.  He paid us over asking price AND shipping fee.  He wants us to reimburse the shipper via Western Union.  Total scammer.  

I had the exact same experience with an email from John Nevelle -- a reply to a Craig's List item, wanting to pay me full price by paypal and have a mover pick up the couch for his son. LOL, he said he was an oceanographer leaving for a project!  I did give him my paypal account number before it occurred to me to google the name.  But, what can he do with the name of my paypal account, which like most is just my email address, without the password?

Trying to do the same thing with me as I type good thing i looked him up..SCAMMER DO NOT USE.

Received email response.  Name came up as John Nevellle (seemed to be too many "L"s in the display name.  Oceanographer, buying for his son, etc..  I would never buy something sight unseen for $5000.  Beware, glad I did a quick Internet search first before responding.

Yep. Someone stating their name was John Nevelle, just replied to my CL ad with a text msg, from this exact same New York ph# wanting to know if I still had my auto for sale here in California.

this guy answered a Craig's List ad for a large item worth several thousand. said he wanted it for a gift for his son and wanted to buy it  if he could have our PayPal account number.  sounded fishy from the git-go.  don'respond to this scammer.

The b*****d tried the same thing with me. saying pay full price and movers would pick up item after payment received.  gift for son or some crap. not really sure how he could scam me though.

he sent me the same info saying he was overseas at the moment. I thought scam right away. I asked him what college he graduated from and didn't get a response. I am glad I looked up his number

Same here.  This person texted me about an item for sale on CL.  It's a scam and needs to be reported.

This person is 100% paypal scammer.  Watch out.

I received a text regarding craigslist item I had for sale.
Individual wanted to pay full price sight unseen and have mover pick up
Mostly he wanted my Paypal account. Referred to motorcycle as "my item" .
Continued to request my Paypal account. When told I did not have one he instructed me how to get one.
He said he was oceanographer.  Found similar scam reports (more than one) on mr number .
Check out before doing business with this person -possible scam.
