Just wanted to say I got the same email regarding a house for rent in Vermont on Zillow. The phone numbers they used were 646-397-5229 and 646-397-5714. The names on the email were Mr & Mrs. Peter Jefferys.

claiming he owns property in MD on Zillow

Found a condo on zillow supposedly owned by him for $650/mo.  Wanted us to send him money up front without letting us view the interior of the unit.  Told us to send him a check for the rent and deposit and then he would FedEx us the keys and that we would basically have to trust that he will not screw us over.  So, I told him that he could FedEx the keys to us with us sending him no money and that he would have to trust US to not screw him over.  Funny how he didn't want to do that.... Glad I googled the number and found out that it was a scam!  He also began texting me at 12:30am and demanded that I complete the rental application (via text message, by the way) "right now".  RED FLAGS ALL OVER THE PLACE!

He also posted a rental he supposedly owns on W. 38th St in San Pedro, Ca. It's a beautiful 3b/2b house by the ocean for...$1000!!!! That alone should have alerted me. He replys to inquiry sent via Trulia.com with this song & dance / very long reply saying that his job transferred him to Germany & now on a Christian crusade in West Africa. He sign with the name Fred R. Valmeo. I checked, this person owns a home in Long Beach...only. This scammer requests a deposit to "secure" the rental. DON'T SEND ANY MONEY!! I walked by this property & the rental sign out front is not this NY # he supplies. I'm sorry I sent him any info at all. Good thing I have a credit monitor & check it often. Alerts are on.

Same thing in Virginia Beach. Says he owns a house and can mail you the keys. Of course after you forward him money via western Union to an address in Nigeria.

Trying to rent an apartment he claims to own in NYC.  Couldn't back it up.  Clearly a scam.

Guy posted house on craigslist for rent that he did not own in Lexington Kentucky.

I received a similar call from this number and text back the code to him.  What should I do next so I don't get chrgd with a ton of phone calls

received text from this number {shown from New York city} asking if he can send me a code to prove I am real, he sends the code from a different number 213-224-0762 {shown as Los Angeles CA} .  I sent it back to him and then nothing.  not sure what his scam is but I checked with verizon and they said he can't access my account, Filed on the number with FCC.  going to check with craigslist to see if he got access to my ad accounts.
