Same thing here.  The caller said they were from Comcast and gave a recorded line disclosure.  Offered 1 year free Showtime because I currently have HBO.  I asked lots of questions and it sounded fairly legit (but it's not).  The personally identifiable information they request is the spelling of your name, your mailing address, and your email.  They do not ask for other sensitive info like DOB or ACCT #.  I called Comcast after talking to this entity and they verified it was not a legit call from Comcast.  They have to be affiliated with Comcast in some way though, because they knew I had HBO as part of my cable package.  Maybe a customer/phone number list happened to leave with a terminated employee perhaps?

Did you confirm any information?  I can't remember if I did or not but they told me I would get showtime for free for 12 months.  I called comcast because we still didn't have Showtime with my service and they had no idea what I was talking about.  Do you remember what they asked for?

I just received a call from this number. They claimed to give me showtime free for a year due to my services that I already have through Comcast. I called Comcast to Verify and they said they could not see the update on my account yet. However, that if I just verified information and did not give them any other personal information than it was probably a safe call.

9/13/2011 got call AGAIN late from 646-403-4442 -english speaking woman claiming to be from comcast and as a VALUED (not non-paying as the moron before suggested) customer they wanted to give me a 1 year free subscription to Showtime.  The catch-  I have to give THEM all my customer private information-I asked if I could call comcast back directly to verify and give them that info.  They were more than obliging-sounding very professional and said sure-repeated the number THEY called from (which you cannot get through to even though they say comcast).  However, I called Comcast directly from the number on my bill and they confirmed immediately that this was a SCAM and would only have a customer verify info if the CUSTOMER CALLED.    The old saying is wise-- "If it's sounds to good to be true, then it isn't".    Sounds like the angry misinformed hag that assumed all consumers who are not easily pried from their hard on money-got caught her self in the scam.  Why else would she spend time posting on this site if she hadnt fell for it.  It is a SCAM and she dissed on the good folk.  HA!!!

A ha, now the truth comes out.  A bill collector posting as an "affiliate".  Thanks for being so obvious.

BTW:  Maybe it's just me, but it seems to me that Comcast wouldn't be offering anything free to someone who is behind on their bills.  Ergo...they wouldn't be getting the calls if they weren't up to date.

Try another line of work, loser.

Not a scam. Just a promotional call. If you are a Comcast subscriber, with HBO as part of your service, you get 1 year showtime free. No plan upgrades or out of pocket expense in any way. Now if you people would just pay ALL bills, you wouldnt need to hide behind ringing phone to avoid collection services. You would in turn be able to opt for free channels and not lose out on real deals.

I got this call too saying they were Comcast Customer Service and to verify name and address.  Did anyone actually get free showtime?

Called Comcast, found out this is 121 advertising, which is a 3rd party that is associated with Comcast. I did not get far enough into the conversation to find out the scam, but Comcast comfirmed that they gave my information to this company. Call comcast to opt out of third party advertisements! It took this call for me to even know it was an issue.
