Hope 2013-09-26 23:24:51 SMS
Today my dad met a lady online and she asked to speak with his daughter because he is a very sick man with stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver. She called herself Mandy all contact was through text she then began to ask for my bank account info and that causes me to alarm like who asks that about someone they don't know. I did not give her any info that she wanted she claimed she wanted it because she was opening a store and needed an honest person to do wire transfers with. I am now going to block her number an have informed my father what I have seen.

I just sent that guy my address 10 minutes ago.
That God you guys have all this posted. It sounded a little to good to be true. Am I in any danger at this point?
ChrisInRoyalOak 2012-09-05 15:08:33 Unknown
Yes. What the likely outcome with these kinds of scams is that you "Cash" it at your bank, but it takes a good 5 to 8 business days till it shows up at the bank as a fraudulent check or money order.
Unfortunately, if you have already done what I nearly did--which was to send a personal check from my account to this "Shipper" after depositing this bogus check, the shipper gets MY money and most likley splits it with "Tim Fleming" or whomever he really is.
The fallout then is that the bank believes you may have been part of the scam ..your credit is damaged and you're out hundreds of dollars plus bank fines etc.
Not fun--except for Timmy Boy and other lowlife cyberthugs.

Aslong as I don't cash the check I received from this scammer i'mk okay right?

I have been corresponding with this same person over the past week. I knew something seemed shady!! Thank goodness I have done anything yet and found this info on here. What a jerk for causing this much trouble!
Sam 2012-07-15 20:33:16 Unknown
I just received the same offer from Tim, quite a busy guy. This is the 5th email of this type this week from a different gmail account each time. They never mention what the item is in the body of the email and want to pay more. I just ignore them now.
Nice Try but Not that Stupid! 2012-07-01 01:54:49 Unknown
Thanks for your mail. The price of the item is fair to me and i wouldn't want to loose it so it would be my pleasure to add another $20 to the asking price so you can sell the item to me and also tell other interested parties that it has been sold to avoid competitions. I don't have much time to come over to take a look because of my Business i have limited time, i am ready to make check to you but i need you to get back with your full details as
1)Full name for Payment
2)Full Address
3)city
4)State
5)zip code
6) cell or home Phone Number(also let me know the best time to reach you on phone)
I will be waiting to get those information from you later today so i can make check out to you immediately, Please don't bother yourself about the pick up, i know a forwarding courier in your state, they will handle the pick up immediately you inform me that you got your check cash, then i will contact them to come for the pick up of the item at your location at your own best time....
I will be waiting for your quick response tomorrow latest.
Stay Blessed.

Wow... Same here. Guess I looked him up too late cuz I did give out my address and receive his check. I will not be cashing it now obviously. Thank God for the internet and thank you all for posting. By the way the name on the check, the envelope it came in, email name (Tim Fleming) and the name of the persons he wanted me to western union the rest of the money are all different. So glad I didn't cash this check, thank you all again. This guy only text because he claims to be deaf.

Thanks anonymous. I called the police and made a report. I printed off all email communications with Mark Wilson, also the craigslist and ebay ads I had placed. I still had the check stub and shipping envelope and all $2400 in cash. Turned all of it over to the police and the police went to my bank. I cashed it Wednesday and returned everything the next day. The police called me back and told me it looks like a fraudulent check. I'm just glad I was able to come here and put everything together before it got out of hand. Old Mark seems like he's sweating. Contacted me twice and I refuse to reply but I will keep every email he sends me. Thanks for the help.
anonymous 2012-05-25 01:11:15 Unknown
You need to contact your bank, tell them everything and give back the money ASAP -- this is the ONLY way to protect yourself. If the check bounces before you tell the bank, the bank may think you are a willing participant in and not a victim of the scam. You can be theoretically prosecuted for passing a bad check but your bank may be more forgiving if you tell them ASAP.

Hi guys, unfortunately, I think I screwed up. I don't normally do business on craigslist. I posted my ROH dvd collection for $500 on there and ebay the same day. A day later, "Mark Wilson" sent me an email with all the same info. Unfortunately, I cashed the check. What should I do??? I'm really nervous.
Mike 2012-05-21 18:07:05 Unknown
I got a similar message using the name Mark Robinson.

I believe it's a scam on craigslist. Read email strings.
Tim Fleming [checkitout12@tbankz.com]
Tim Fleming [grahamjoel435@gmail.com]
Hi,
Im glad it's still for sale.I am willing to pay your asking price.I will pay you with money order or Cashier Check as its the only way i can pay you at the moment due to the fact that i am away for a business emergency.I will make arrangement for the pick-up after payment have been received by you. I dont mind adding an extra $20 just for you to keep it in my favor. If you are okay with my terms please reply with your full name and address where payment should be sent, and a phone number where i can reach you.And i will appreciate if you can take the posting off craigslist today and consider it sold to me.The check I'm sending will be in excess,as soon as check clears your bank you will deduct your part and give the difference to the mover for the shipping service . I'm asking you to do this for me because of my tight schedule at work and I need to finalize this ASAP.
Expecting to hear from you soon.
Regards.
Tim Fleming .
