Same story, wants to pay asking price for my car .  He needs to act quick because he is a oceanographer leaving for a job ! Present for his dad too! Must really love his dad!

Wants PAY PAL info. Lock this Crook up!!!!

Texted him my email/paypal address as : u_r_pathetic@scammers.com  and told him I was going to throw the turnips in for free.  HE ANSWERED!!!  

Got this text back:

Thanks for getting back to me with the payment details.  I want you to consider the item sold and keep off other interested buyers that would make an inquiry as am ready for it's purchase.  I am just about to made the payment...I will be sending you $1,400 for the item and $900 for my agent who will be coming for the pickup ... so I want you to be aware that $2,400 will be send to your account.

So I put an ad on Craigslist a few days ago to sell my court reporting equipment.  Got a text last night wanting to know if it was still available, so I texted 'yes'.  As an afterthought, I googled the phone number, 'cause it wasn't from around here.  Scammer.  Sometimes he's a marine (out at sea), sometimes an oceanographer  out to sea ... wants to buy car (or sometimes a boat) for his sister, sometimes for his dad.  Who knows ... maybe his whole family (lol)

So he texts me again today.

Him: ok Can you assure me that it's in good state and that i will not be disappointed with it.  I'm ready to pay your asking price and to be honest, I wanted to buy this for my dad, but the issue is i am an oceanographer and i do have a contract to go for which starts tomorrow and am leaving any moment from now.  The contract is strictly no call due to the lack of reception on the sea area.  But I'm able

So I texted back: Since we're being HONEST here i need to tell u that it doesn't work all the time.  U have 2 hold your right arm in the air to record on it.  I also have some turnips for sale that fell off the truck with me if u r interested.

So he texts back:   Ok Great ...sound good ok ... so i want u to know that am gonna pay for this ad through paypal which is very easy for me...so just get back to me with ur paypal email address and some other full details about the ad so i can procced with the payment asap.

The BIG question in my mind is ... does he want the turnips with it or not???

Said he is going to pay me an additional $200  to my all ready asking price and will pay via pay pal.  Once I receive receipt of payment he will have his shipping company pick up my boat.  Says he is a Marine out at Sea and can't get me the cash.  Thank God for this site and you all for posting it.  I thought it was too good to be true.  Dead give away is he texted me "so pls put it off on the craigslist site,and pls consider me as your favorite buyer," - the broken English was a dead giveaway.

I had a car for sale on Craigslist. A scammer texted me from this number asking for my paypal email so he could pay me for the car. I was logged into paypal when the email came in. It was a spoof email intended to defraud me from my bank info. Very sneaky yet amateur. This is a scammer number.

I have been getting scam texts from this guy too, claiming to be oceanographer, wanting paypal info, wanting to buy my "whatever".
So... does anyone have any information on where I can report this guy...Please ost thanks

They're not an "oceanographer", They're a phisher. It's a criminal who wants your Paypal address. That's why all the messages are text only. You will get (1)A phoney Paypal receipt. (2)An overpayment, with you returning the balance by "Western Union" (3)Your financial information will be stolden. Please take the time to read up on it. Lots of information on this scam on this site.

Me Too, He said he was an oceanographer and needed to buy something before next day.  I said paypal or cash, he said just give him my email address.

What kind of scam did the other site say he did?

same here craigslist needs to do something about the f in scammers i told him to call me   still waiting

SAME HERE.  HE CLAIMS TO BE A MARINE BUT WIL NOT GIVE YIUO HIS NAME.

He claims to be a marine wanting to purchase something I listed on Craigslist. Says he wants to pay with PayPal, but I saw on another site that he is a scammer on Craigslist so I didn't contact him back.
