I just got the same email about the wedding dress, started with an SMS.

This bloke has been busy.

Yes had a car for sale on Carsales.com.au and received a SMS asking about what the final price was and saying could I send a response to the email (Desmond Gan) desmdgan87@gmail.com

The response to the initial email sent to him was;

Yeah,he got me.........before I googled his email address and found all this.My girlfriend (stupidly)sent  him a photo of my licence and now I am............screwed!!!! We should all get together,track him down and kill him.I only wish I had a tracking device to track him down and cut his throat.He destroyed my dreams of owning my first house and now that he has my licence details,I worry about what he will do with it......like use my licence to scam someone else.My full name is Tom McDonald and I am NOT a scammer......just a victim of this evil person....whoever it is.He will be caught sooner or later.Just hope it's sooner rather than later.God help him cause one one else will.

I got exactly the same email from Desmond gan. I thought I had a sale for me car but thought things weren't right with him saying all this stuff about his kid and education. I googled his email and then this.... Lucky I did and sorry u went through that.

I got a message from a Desmond Gan along the same lines.  Number was +61428465117 about a car I had for sales on carsales.com.au.  Tweaked to the scam when I got this message:  
Thanks for the paypal payment request and am happy to proceed with the payment, however i just got a confirmation mail from the shipping company now that i will need to pay for the freighting fees before they can schedule pre-shipping/ pickup date,they charged $1,550aud for the pick up and delivery, but the problem is they only accept western union money transfer as form of payment which is sent to their HQ in the China.

As you are well aware of, due to the nature of my work am away and do not have access to western union, most post offices have western union section,will it be ok with you if I add the $1,550aud to the amount I am transferring? and as soon as the money goes through you can help me make the western union transfer of the freighting fees through western union money transfer? You are not obliged to help me, but i will indeed appreciate your help as I am a little incapacitated here.

I received something very similar regarding a piano for sale in the US. I got the New Zealand Kupe Project version from a Robert Wall. It didn't ask for banking, but that it only could be paid by Paypal. Later emails mimic others on the site and I got an exact copy of one, that the pick up agent would only accept a Western Union. I looked up Western Union and found it could be done on line. I didn't have one close so I sent him the info to do it online with a bank or credit card himself. The next email I got was a very agitated one that it could only be Paypal. Then I got another email that he had paid Paypal the whole amount including the shipping and I would need to Western Union the shipping. Because he had overpaid the amount of the bill, there would be a Paypal hold until confirmation of the Western Union to pay the shipping was done. I got an official looking email from Paypal saying the whole amount was paid but there was a block until they received confirmation that the Western Union had been paid and some instructions that sounded odd. It looked official with the Logo's but there was a typo and there weren't clear directions of how you were to scan and send a receipt to Paypal. It would look official and real to almost any lay person as an international transaction. Thankfully I checked my Paypal account and no info on any of this or a hold on my account.  So I replied back that I wouldn't Western Union prior to payment and sent the Paypal invoice for the entire amount including the shipping, the total that he supposedly paid. I told him to cancel his other transaction and use the link and once he's paid through Paypal I'll  Western Union the money. If the cash is in the account, I'll Western Union the money to Patricia Hobbs in Gainesville Georgia as requested.

I got almost this exact one from a Robert Wall yesterday. They have a new touch of sending an official looking Paypal notice that looks to come from Paypal, that says the funds are paid but have a hold until the Western Union is paid. I was contact re: a piano for sale. There was nothing on the actual paypal site which was odd. Thanks for posting. This was word for word except for the country. You have saved me a huge headache knowing for dertainty this is a scam.
