I just received a call from this number stating that they viewed my resume on line. Did not say what web site and that the company wanting to hire was confidential. It was a recorded message, not a live person. Don't waste your time calling back.

Listen guys, I wouldn't exactly call it a scam.  I've been working there for a few weeks now and our main job is to verify the information, but after we verify First+Last Name, Address, Phone Number(s), and your Email Address, the verification is complete and the rest is simply to gauge interest in going back to school.  You must be:  18+ years of age, a US citizen, must have a GED or HS Diploma, and you must not currently be enrolled in a school to qualify for enrollment in College.

It's simply lead generation - if you are not looking to better yourselves with a college degree, then simply say so.  There may be some reps that are more aggressive than ones like me, but if you vehemently say "No thanks, I'm not interested in going back to school" when that questions arrives, they should be almost done with the call.

As far as I know, once we verify the information and submit, it goes straight into the back office (the little workstation the employer has access to via CareerNetwork or a different job board) and that is the end of that, if the employer is interested, he will take your now verified and by extension correct information and get in contact with you.

If you seriously don't think that you applied for a real job, say to the Rep:

"Listen, [name], I'm really just not interested in doing this.  Please give this number [number] to your manager and have it removed from your dialer."

This should end all the calls coming to you, but remember that this is a vital step to getting your application to the employer and by not going through the process, you are effectively taking yourself out of the competition for this job.

If you are interested in going back to school, say so and this person will give you a number to contact our education advisers and see if they can help you get matched with a school (either online (which is really what we're garnering for, I believe) or campus, and if our specific set of schools don't offer the program (such as a CDL License or a program for Butchering (yeah I had one of those)), I believe we give the person information about some schools that actually do offer that program) and I believe they have you fill out a FAFSA.  Student loans may come into play, but I'm pretty sure it isn't 100% student loans, there are some grants and scholarships and such involved.

We, as reps, get paid not by if the person enrolls in school, but simply if they call in and are genuinely interested in talking with a school about what the program entails, how fast they can get their degree, etc.

If you took the time to read this, thanks, and sorry for the supreme amount of parenthesis two paragraphs up.

I got a call from them based on a craigs list thing I responded to a week or so ago.  I told them no to the continuing education question, so they asked 2 more times.
No big deal.

Don't be fooled, I traced this number back and found it is a cell phone in the New York, New York area. Think about it, what kind of company would call from a cell phone? Especially at 1am??? If you cannot call them back, that is another red flag. BEWARE!

I just returned the call to 646-520-0697. They are Employment Select and said that they are contracted by various companies to verify application information, which they did. They had all of my application info: name, address, phone, and just recapped it. I believe that function of the company is legitimate. However, they also offer some type of career counseling or other related service(s), which they pitched to me after they verified my application. I declined.

In any case, I was okay with them, and we'll see if anything comes of it.

I am a professional executive recrutier and I also received a call from these scammers.  IF this was legit, they would tell you about the company, the position, benefits, etc.  They may not give you the name, to protect their commission...however, they would want to "sell" the company to you.  This is a scam for an on-line education course.  Which by the way, most employers don't care about.  They want their employees to come from accredited schools - not on-line schools...

This is a scam. I have never applied for a job and my resume is not out there for anyone to view. I am a stay at home mother. I have gotten 3 of these called in the last week. I would like to know who to report this to. I do not take kindly to scams and would like to take these loosers down.

They called me at 9 am and said they had called me 2 times last week... tho I have been home for the past 4 weeks and the phone has not rang once. called them back and the phone cut out. Came to find out its from  a scam sight on craigslist. Yiu respond to the post and they email you sounding like a company and claim you need to go to there resume upload sight. You fill out the basic name adress phone number and past employment nothing personal. So best advice is stick to the news paper and ditch craigslist.

I agree it is a SCAM. I remember the automated voice asked me to get online when answering the phone. And the next day news said someone stole the password online that day. I am so scared that deleted all my email and change my password at once.

I've received more than 3 calls from this number regarding different jobs I've applied for. All companies did not "wish to be known" and were using this 3rd party.
It seemed odd to me the first time how they kept trying to push a "further your education" agenda on me. The first time I made the mistake of saying yes, and received at least 3 more phone calls after that regarding education programs. I finally told them to go away.
The second time I said no to the "further your education" question and the call mysteriously dropped, as in I no longer had anything they were interested in.
The third time, was a repeat of the second.

It seems as though these are just phishing scams, though in these particular cases it appears as if they want to use legal means of taking money *ie student loans/grants*.

What finally set me off was another one from today. Saying "you applied for this job within the past 4 days" Which was a blatant lie, I hadn't applied for any job in the past week+ considering I am about to be hired with a REAL company back in Texas.

Beware this number folks, if there's this many questions about it, then something isn't quite right.

I also received a call this morning with an automated voice saying they tried to contact me once before but couldn't reach me. Clue one that it was a scam. I waited for someone to answer, but no answer. So I called the number back and when I finally got to a real person she asked for my phone number. I asked what company she was with and and where they were located. She said Employment Select and after hesitating said "Florida..... Orlando, Florida." In amongst my questioning her she asked for my phone number 3 times. I hung up immediatedly. BEWARE! I AM SURE THIS IS A SCAM!!!

I got a call from 646-520-0697 this morning. In the beginning, the voice speaker said they tried to contact me before but didn't reach me (I'm sure I didn't receive a call from this number before) and asked me to wait for a representative and the phone would be recorded. After about 3 minutes, a lady talked to me that she would like to verify my informaiton which I applied for a job position online last week. She reconfirmed my name, phone number, email address and home address which is posted on my resume. She asked if I am in employment (NO) and said she will send my information to their Confidential Client for the job opening. In the last, she asked me to call 407-506-0349 ASAP to ensure I am considered for the job. I'm wondering if I should call. Did anyone call this number?

It is company called "employment select" the are a comppany that screens applicants for other companys. Then they ask you about futhering you education.I'm thinking this is how this company makes their money from some kind of student loan or something. It is not required to acept schooling to get the job.

I'm thinking this number has to do with an email I received recently.  It was for a forklift operator position on nights - thought it would be a good second job as I have a solid day job - started filling out the information on their website and got to a point where the coding in their site seemed odd/fishy... it was asking for references & emails/phone numbers for them and wasn't letting me go back to edit them - So I started thinking this is a scam just trying to get peoples information.  I'm thinking this number may have to do with this email...

received call - no voicemail... These company's should get it by now that most people don't answer unknown numbers. Scam? probably, and I think the number 201-298-1708 which I received a call from later on today is connected with this one some how as this doesn't happen often.

I recieved a call from these people... they left no message. Upon calling back, it seems to be some screening employment service. Oddly, it comes from a cell phone. Weird for a business to have an answering machine message on a cell phone with available representatives.

Also got a call from this phone saying I did not complete my job application.  If the company is legit, then it should say this is company so and so.  It didn't.  There are simply too many scams these days targeting job seekers.  So we should be careful about this type of thing.
