I too got a call for my car which i placed an ad few days back. He was asking for my address and name to send the check. I smell something fishy.

Immediately after posting my motorcycle I got a text asking if it was still available, when I said yes, I got a text saying where should I send the money, I'll take care of shipping myself blah blah. Obviously a scam, didn't ask a single question about the actual bike.

Based on posts I've seen on other threads, there are many things they can do--send you a phishing e-mail that looks like a Paypal deposit, or set up for Paypal sounds the most likely, but there is also the possibility that they will start working up identity theft on you. Other possibilities--claim the goods weren't as promised, and get a refund, physically rob you when the "agent" shows up to pick up the item, or ask you to send part of the "extra" payment back.
scary. As I note in my post, I'm embarrassed that I didn't figure it out right away.

Offered to send me money via paypal for my car on craigslist--sight unseen. I simply responded "cash only"
The best (worst) part is that my wife figured out it was a scam before I did!

this person by the name of bobby alex, texted me about my listing on craigslist
said he doesn't have a problem with the cost and the condition but could not come and
look at the item but he/she wanted my full address and zipcode (if you are from canada, you know we have a postal code not a zip code)
going by my gut feeling, I decided not to give him/her my full address and just gave him/her our postal code.
didn't hear back from him/her.

This number texted my phone about something I had on craigslist. I knew it was a scammer just by the way they sent the text. I always tell them they can send cash with the person picking the item up, and I don't hear from them after that.

Craigslist Scammer txt. "You you still have the item" You know the usual CL scammer - Will buy "the item" but cant come in person but trusts you and will send you a (bogus) check - usually 1500 to 3000 more than your listing. But thats OK - just cash the (bogus) check and the balance is for the person picking it up but you need to western union the shipper the money before they pick it up.
Please have fun with the CL scammers. I do. Its fun.
