So I called the real FBI and they told me about this before I could tell them what happened.  The agent I spoke with said if you apply for a payday loan or even inquire about a payday loan online you release all your personal information and will most likely become a victim of identity theft.  She said that we should contact the identy theft hotline at 866-999-5630 (please look it up and make sure it is legit do not take my word for it) just to be safeguarded.  She said there is nothing we can do about the calls but to keep hanging up but when they call your job that's crappy.  She said to inform your job also to hang up also.  Don't entertain these idiots who think we're so stupid and will fall for anything.  They are looking for ways to scam you and may even be attempting to use your identity for fraudulent purposes.

I just recieved the same call around 3:00 PM today. I have received numerous calls pertaining to an a warrrant for my arrest and no other details except some case numbers which I do not know what they are. They do not tell me any of that information and also any information from whom. I am fed up with this as I just left a messge to have my attorney find out more. This has happened before and I have found it maybe a scam. Any idea on how to find out who these people are and what can be done as well what can we do stop these calls. Thanks. stu or smzwelling@aol.com. Appreciate your response and feedback.

(cross posted also on another similar site)

I can find no law firm of Rodridques, Shapiro & Rodrigques anywhere in the United States.  Furthermore, it behoves "Daniel" to realize that he is not only impersonating an attorney but likely committing federal wire fraud, federal bank fraud, conspiracy to impersonate a federal officer, theft, and a variety of other crimes.

An "FBI Officer" called my friend who luckily had the common sense to call me before he went out and bought a "green dot" card and loaded the nearly Six Hundred Dollars they were trying to extort from him.  Caller was Thurston Rose or something to that affect.  He was allegedly an FBI agent getting ready to file three criminal charges (see above its the same story) for several thousands of dollars but would table it if my friend would pay the money by putting it on a green dot card.

I told my friend to call him back and to ask for his name, facsimile, and mailing address so that he can send a "do not call" letter and not to verify any information.

This is definitely the most impressive scam I have come across since the wanted ads by the Russian mafia who hire people to receive stolen goods, inspect them, and forward them FedEx out of the country.  A good friend's brother was taken in by this one and lost $600 in FedEx charges.  Luckily, we convinced the county police that he really was duped.

Whenever in doubt, even if your doubt is small folks, please call your attorney!!!  A $100 consultation sure beats being scammed for thousands.  Otherwise, if you think it is a legitimate collector, please, wait for the letter to come in the mail.  It's your only defense.

BE GETTING THESE  CALLS FOR 2 DAY, AT FIRST I WAS PRETTY SCARED, COUSE THE LAST THING I NEEDED WAS TO GO TO JAIL.  FIRST THEY ASKED ME ABOUT THE CASE, I TOLD THEM THAT I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT.  ASKED THEM WHO THE COMPANY WAS THAT WAS SUEING ME, THEY SAID THAT THEY DIDNT HAVE THAT INFO. I STARTED TO THINK SOMETHING WAS UP. I LISTENED TO THEM ABOUT WHAT I HAD TO DO TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF,  TOLD ME TO GO TO LOCAL WALMART AND BUY A GREEN DOT CARD, LOAD THE MONEY AND CALL THEM BACK, OH IT HAD TO BE A CERTAIN TYPE OF CARD.  I ASKED WHY IF THERE WAS A FINE WHY I COULDNT JUST PAY IF OVER THE PHONE WITH DEBIT CARD, SAID THAT IT WASENT POSSIBLE, (THANK GOD IT WASENT POSSIBLE).  SO I WENT AND BOUGHT THE CARD AND LOADED JUST A LITTLE BIT ON IT,  CALLED AND GAVE THEM THE NUMBERS OFF THE CARD, WELL THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO FUNDS ON IT.  I CALLED GREENDOT ASKED THEM ABOUT IT THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS ILLEGAL TRANSACTION. WHEN I TOLD GERALD ROSS THIS IS TOLD ME THAT IT WASENT ILLEGAL AND THAT I NEED TO GET A REFUND AND BUY ANOTHER CARD, I SAID IF IT DIDNT WORK THE FIRST TIME WHY WOULD IT WORK WITH ANOTHER CARD, COULDNT ANSWER MY QUESTION, JUST KEPT SAYING TO GO BUY ANOTHER ONE.  TOLD HIM I DIDNT HAVE THE MONEY TO DO THAT SINCE I HAD ALREADY BOUGHT THE FIRST CARD.  HE SAID THAT HE WOULD CALL ME BACK ON FRIDAY AND THAT I HAD BETTER HAVE SOMETHING FIGURED OUT.  WHEN HE CALLED I HAD HIM SPEAK WITH MY LEGAL ADVISOR SHE ASKED HIM FOR INFORMATION ABOUT THE CASE, OF COURSE GERALD WAS NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION SUCH AS CASE NUMBER, WHO WAS SUEING, ETC.  ALSO ASKED HIM FOR HIS FBI BADGE NUMBER, SUPERVISORS NAME, ADDRESS AND OTHER INFOMATION AND OF COURSE NO ANSWER WAS SAID,  HE SAID THAT LEGAL ACTION WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF TOM.  AFTER GETTING OFF THE PHONE I CALLED THE LOCAL POLICE AND REPORTED THE SITUATION.  I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE THINK THAT THEY NEED TO RUIN THE LIFE OF HARD WORKING PEOPLE,  MAYBE THEY SHOULD GET A REAL JOB AND MAYBE THEY WIOULD UNDERSTAND HOW THESE KIND OF THINGS AFFECT HONEST PEOPLE.

I first received the call at work and the number that showed up on my caller ID was 911. I thought that was strange so I answered the call and the gentleman with the Eastern accent named Adam Gilchrist tried to say he's a special agent from the FBI New York office and that if I knew about my case. I said no and he said, "What, you don't know?" I said to him, "So you're a police officer because you're calling me from 911?" He stumbled and bit and kept asking me if I knew about my case. I told him I will not answer any questions until he answers my questions about him impersonating a police officer, which is against the law. He said that if I had any questions that I could call him at 646-571-4611 but I need to answer his questions. I hung up.

Then a few minutes later I received a call from 646-597-9858 from another Eastern accent gentleman named Gerald Ross starting that he is a special agent from the FBI New York office, I hung up.

Got similar situation as Kim. FBI agent name Gerald Ross called at my work to let me know there's a warrant for my arrest. This was Monday 18th. He had a middle eastern/Indian accent. Half of what he's saying makes no sense. I actually screamed at him and demanding to speak to someone that speaks English.  Hung up on him and had the nerve to call me back and told me not to disregard this matter that if I don't way.t to go jail.  Told him I'm getting a lawyler to contract him back and to file judges for harrasment oh and before he hung up he gave  the phone to reach him as be put it his Direct FBI Line. He has my cell phone number too. Same voice but different name. Don't be scared they mumbled and fumbled when you get assertive with the. What a bunch of idiots trying to scam people.. get a real job mister you sorry SOB. Beware!

I recieved a call from (646) 597-9858 from an officer Diego Rodriguez stating that he was an FBI agent and has a federal warrant for my arrest for bank fraud. I immediately new it was a scam because of the foriegn accent and the name Diego Rodriguez. He stated that he could help me settle out of court and stop my federal warrant. I think he was a little surprised at my answer because I stated "I did not want to settle out of court and I needed to know exactly where to go to turn myself in to resolve the issue" The caller replied by saying the warrant was issued out of New York and I had to fly to New York to turn myself in. I told him that if there is an actual federal warrant out for my arrest I could stop any police officer on the street and turn myself in that way. The caller stated I could not do that because the warrant was in New York. Funny! I guess they have no clue to what or how a FEDERAL WARRANT is handled. I told him I would contact my local FBI department and handle the issue there and if needed I would turn myself in to beging serving my sentence. The callers response was "okay". I called my local FBI department California and they are aware of the scam and is working with the FCC on the matter. I called the alleged "Diego Rodriguez" to let him know that I spoke with my local FBI and gave them all of their information and they would be contacting him ASAP in regards to my arrest warrant, he immediately hung up. I tried to call back but the alleged "Diego Rodriguez" sends me to voicemail. Oh! I also found out from my local FBI department that there is a "Diego Rodriguez" who works for the FBI and he is one of the BIG BOSSES up top. He was recently acknowledged for is services. He is widely known and can be the reason why they are using his name...DONT BE SCAMMED!

recieved a call from 646-571-4611 claiming to be with the fbi. I had commited bank fraud in the amount of 600 dollars. He claimed arrest warrants had been filled and he would have me arrested today. call local courthouse where there were no warrants under my name. He also provided a phone number to the new york court house where the warrants were originally placed......646-597-9858.... called this number and another middle eastern man said he was patrick williams with some sort of law enforcement office. the 6465714611 is an omnipoint communications phone number which is prepaid---as in you can not trace owner info....the 646-597-6858 number is metro pcs also prepaid... its sad our government officials now have to pre pay for their phone sevice. where is all my tax money going.  well as you probably have figured out i personally feel this is a scam and would recommend doing a little research if you receive a call from these numbers
