Unknown text message from (917)413-6581 asking me to contact (646)688-4771 regarding
[S][U][N] [T][R][U][S][T]

This must be a scam I have no accounts with Sun trust,

"Anonymous: [Unverified-Sender] (9175326887) Westerly Community CU Notice. Please call 646 688 4771"

This was my message.

Hi, ditto!  I received the same. I wish they would catch these people because I fear someone will get involve with these scums. Thanks for all the posting!

Have gotten three texts in the past 24 hrs. Call is from 917 386 3612 says it is merchants bank, but I have no accounts with them. Asks that I call 646 688 4771, then next message lists 505 633 7784' then 505 310 6541.

I got the same message with both numbers: 505-633-7784 & 646-688-4771.  SCAM

Same number (646-688-4771) but are now claiming to be Merchants Bank. Sent from 917-726-8862 - both NYC numbers.

Got a text message on my cell phone to call this number.  A bank name was given, not one we do business with.  The message came from a cell phone with a NY NY address.  The number to call is a NY NY landline.  My daughter is working at her credit union today and when I sent her a text concerning these messages she sent back that their phones are blowing up with calls about this same thing.  Definitely a scam. The other text I received came from a Brooklyn NY cell phone number and the call back was a Nara Visa New Mexico landline.

I recieved two different messages from two different numbers saying my merchants bank account had been locked. The funny thing is I DONT HAVE AN ACCOUNT THERE! These people are trying to prey on people's bank accounts. Can someone please inform the police? I am in Vermont so it is clearly nation wide.

Me too! I received the same text messages from two 917 numbers, telling me to call 646-688-4771 and 505-633-7784. I am in Vermont, and Merchants Bank is a Vermont based bank, not a national chain.

Same for me I actually just posted something about it. I did a reverse lookup of number to call and it is some empty lot in New Mexico.

Received two text from the same number within minutes. Definitely a scam but very annoying

I just received the same tex only 2 of them with 2 different numbers both saying Merchants Bank alert. How do they get ur number anyway??

The call came from 917-925-7331.  The call came on Saturday at 11:33.  Merchants does not have cell number and is not open on Saturday.

Just got another text message, same message but came from 917-615-1337 and asked us to call 505-633-7784!

I just got a text from that message saying to call Merchants Bank ( a local bank ). Closed my account there over a year ago....total scam

I just received this text today from merchants bank, I live in Vermont, its def a scam I closed this account months ago and my mom works for the bank they would never text you if there was truly an issue! Looks like they are changing banks!

Got same message today except it said Merchants Bank. I don't even have an account with them.

Yep. I'm in TN on Verizon and got a text claiming to be a Suntrust notification and for me to call. Obviously didn't and promptly deleted it.

Just got this text and it worried me because I have received Four phone calls from an "unknown number" on my cell phone in the last two days and I never get those types of calls.  I too have no accounts with SunTrust so my suspensions were correct when I googled the number and found this discussion.  Thanks for everyones input!

Received the same message - Verizon customer in Tennessee - I have no Suntrust account and this is the 2nd one I have received

Just got a text message a few minutes ago too. Says it's from 972-285-2962, which isn't a valid number. Text says it's a Suntrust Bank Notice, and to call back 646-688-4771.

Got a text message saying call Suntrust at this number.
When you call it say debit card blocked, please enter card number.
