This number just called me and when the machine picked up I could hear a female talking in the background but the caller didn't leave a message. Very annoying.

Haven't gotten "the call" but did receive same suspicious email.  Did you reply with the information she asked for?  She is obviously a scammer and whenever in question just google the name...I got the email and googled "Sharon Pears" and the first two sites that came up was this one and another saying that this woman was trying to scam someone else.  Do your research and don't EVER give out personal info

I just got a call from these same people at Oak View saying I also took a loan out for $500 from American Cash Advance. It is a scam, please report them to the FTC so they can be shut down.
It is illegal to threaten to sue someone, as well as againts the law to demand payment for a loan when the debt collector will not even send you a copy in writing.

This number calls me and they think I am a Tommy Roberson, which I am not.  Apparently, this Tommy guy owes somebody money and they are 'coming for me'.  The person calling has a thick accent, possibly middle-eastern.  He tells me he feels sorry for me, that they have 'court records', and that Tommy or his attorney had better call.  I've been told a policeman will come to my door.  
This is just one of the numbers they call from, but, this time, this morning, I acted like I was Tommy's attorney and got them to give me an address.  They gave me:  42 Broadway, 5th Floor, NY, NY 10044
These scammers are obviously trying to intimidate me into paying, which, by the way, they've yet to tell me who the debt was to or even how much it is for.  
Short of changing my phone service, these people just aren't stopping!  This has been going on for 6 months.

It's a scam from "Hey Cosmo". Trying to get you to go to there website and sign up for their "free" trial. I'm sure you then get charged beaucoups bucks. Just have your provider block the number.

It's the same thing as 4016480571. There's 23 pages on this website of comments if you look up the 401 number that will tell you the same thing.

I'm in DC and got the call 12/18/10 at 7:34pm EST. I only know one couple in NY and this isn't their number. My phone didn't even ring - I just got the "Missed Call" notification. He/she didn't leave a message.

Since there are so many people who've been called by this number, it could be that the person calls a new random number every day/week, etc.

just got a call from it. lasted less than 3 seconds. phone said it was from Manhattan NY.

I do not know this number, but I saw the name SHaron Pears also got hte same story. SHe said her dad will pay the rent and would like to secure the room first. Be aware of this kind of strange email.

I had a request from this person to rent a room in Denver CO. Wanted my information so her dad could sent me a cashiers check. Never responded back

Got a missed call on 12/22/10 with no message left but when called back message stated it was to hey hate cosmo...why? where did my number get picked up from?

I blocked my outgoing caller ID and thne called the NYC based number. It was from this company:

I downloaded an iphone app last week that lets me send free text messages. My guess is that the two are linked. Just a guess but it makes sense. Hey Cosmo is based in silicon valley in California.

They are a group od scammers trying to hack peoples personal information. They are part of the pay loan scammers. And will use threats like arresting you for something you are not responsible for be careful. They paid some company you have dealt with for your info. And they have mutiple numbers included in there arsenal

Yep.........just happened to me.  My phone didn't ring but I for a missed call from the same IDIOTS.

Don't be too alarmed.  Return called the number (with caller-id hidden) and it turned out to be a spammer call from Home Depot.

So, If I am on the no call list, I can report the call.  Hope they start getting fined - A LOT!

In Bremerton, WA,  Got the same, rang a couple times on my cell, and hung up.
I could tell it was from NY, also.  No way am calling it back, I have no idea what can of worms that might open!

I WAS WATCHING A VIDEO ON HULU.COM WITH MY GIRLFRIEND AND MY PHONE VIBRATED ONCE AND IT WAS THIS NUMBER SO I TOLD MY GIRLFRIEND TO SEARCH THE AREA CODE AND I RAN INTO THIS SITE AND REALIZED THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TOO. THIS IS SOME SCARY STUFF AND IT LITERALLY HAPPENED ABOUT 3 MINUTES AGO. MY GIRLFRIEND SAID THAT THE SAME NUMBER HAS CALLED HER A LARGE AMOUNT OF TIMES BEFORE AS WELL. WE SHOULD ALL TRACK THIS NUMBER MAYBE ITS ALIENS!!!!!!! :O....OR cia IN WHICH CASE ID RATHER NOT CALL:O
