They call asking for someone named Kimberly (who apparently needs fast cash by all the text messages I recieve about cash advances) and when I say I'm not Kimberly they hang up.  I asked them not to call my number anymore but they don't understand that.  The number is a NY area code, but they are calling from Off-Shore - you can bet on that.  They need to stop and won't tell me what company they are calling from.

got the same call today and I hung up.

Recorded voice says: "I have a phone call for this number.  Please hold while I try to connect you."

Same thing, I received a call from 1-646-727-7937. The first call was a recorded message from a man...Just said, this is a scam, whatever you do, do not call this number back, & God Bless.  Like a dumb person.  Icalled the number back from my comcast phone & voice mail that says box is full. Next my comcast service crashed!!!!!
I then reported the number to Verizon which is the cell they initially called me on!!!  Today 9/26/09 I recieved another call from that # I asked who she was, & she hung up!!  Who is this & alerting your phone carrier is a good thing to do.

Just got a call from this number... I called back and it said the mailbox was full. It was after a received a call from this number: 097...I then reported the number on the do not call registry as a harrassment complaint. Hopefully this works.

I received a call from this number and when i answered the phone, they were there,but didn't answer when i said hello, and then they hung up. was very rude not to say who they were or what they were calling for.

Got a call today asking for my partner who wasn't home. I asked who was calling before I said if she was home or not. The person with a clearly Asian accent said he was calling from the "Online Education Department" because she had requested some information. I corrected him and let him know she had not requested such information. He then went on to say that they represent the top US university. I asked which one, he then went on to list off several crap online schools that are scams anyway. I then corrected him again by telling him those were NOT "Top Universities" and asked him to remove this number from their calling list. He said he would, but we'll see.

For the last 3 days straight i have received call after call from the number, about 8 times a day. everytime i answer, they hang up!

This phone number has been phoning me constantly for two days straight.  The number is 646-727-7939.
I am going to contact my phone service as well as the RCMP and report it as a scam.  I am furious about this, as this has completely disrupted my life.

I received a Call From 1-646-727-7937 twice today and the last time they called I sounded like an FBI agent listening in. That scared them pretty good because immediately the caller hung up.

I keep getting phone calls from this number NON-STOP!!!  They are really annoying me...Whenever I answer, they don't even say anything, they just hang up, so I stopped answering.. WoW!They are actually trying to call me right now!!  They don't seem to give up! I don't know if I should get my number changed...  Maybe if we all report the number as a scam, make a complaint or threaten them...they'll stop??

For the last couple of days I've been receiving calls from this number. Luckily I have digital phone service (over IP) and can block it myself.

This number calls several times per day and whenever I answer the call is disconnected. Strange!

They call endlessly, sounds like a telemarketer because there is dead air and then I can hear the call connecting, and then they hang up without saying anything!!
It is so annoying.  I live in Alberta - is there any way I can block this when I have a land line through Telus?

I've been getting calls from the same 646 727-7937(New York) as most of you. When I answered there was silence. They call a couple times a day but not on weekends it seems. I also get calls from a number that just reads "PRIVATE" and nobody is there. I don't answer either calls anymore but they still call. I hope someone figures this out for us.

I have received a call from this # a few times & don't pick up cause it's out of my area. I don't recognize the # as a friend of mine or company I deal with. Thank you for all these postings.

They call claiming they are "Alex Johnson" or "Sean Anderson" an "officer of the law" with some sort of indian accent and that there will be police officers coming to arrest me with all these bogus charges against me on a phony payday loan that I supposedly had... they even had names of friends that I have previously used as referrences on other things & my ssn. They've even called me back after I hang up calling me a "b*tch" and "stupid lady... that's all you are is a stupid worthless lady" and one even said "i will track you down and kick your a**" I called the FTC and our state's Attorney General and they both said it's a scam and the only thing I can do is change my number or hang up as soon as I realize it's them and not to give them money. They also gave me a list of information that would help determine the difference between a real debt collector and a scammer. A debt collector HAS to send you a written notification with in 5 business days of the first contact. Also, a debt collecting agency and officer CANNOT make ANY sort of threats against you whatsoever... not even to garnish wages. If they do so and it is reported, they can receive fines starting at $10,000. My husband is in the military so we can't just change our phone numbers, there are way too many people we would have to notify, so we contacted our cell phone providers and downloaded a phone number blocking program and add those numbers to the list as they call. They stop calling for a while but eventually find a number that isn't on the list.

Keep getting a call from this number and and no one on the line.  New York DA needs to be informed.

Received call from 0646-727-7937. I tried calling back but went to voice mail saying person at number was not available.

Keep getting calls from this number.  Only once did I speak with someone and they were asking about going back to school.  But they won't stop calling.  I tried calling back and texting them but they still don't stop calling.  Location shows up as New York on my phone.  It's becoming a real pain in the a**.
