They could be spoofing the number with one that is out of service.

This number had been calling for weeks. Today I called it back but I put a 1 in front of the number
And it rings and goes to a voicemail of a PHILIP REED!  Don't know who he is.
I tried the number without the 1 and it says its disconnected.

These people truly are annoying.  I will be filling a complaint form on the  Do Not Call Registry site.

I have a new phone that allows blocked calls, but only gives me 50 numbers to save.  I currently have more blocked numbers than contact numbers, and am running out fast. I wish there were more ways to deal with these people.

They called yesterday and monitored the message that was being left on the answering system. It sounds like a live person speaking and not a robocall. I believe it starts off about the equipment that was ordered and goes on from there. He even asks if anyone in the home has fallen.

If I thought this was an actual person, I'd be tempted to answer just to string him along and tell him about the ghost in the home that keeps falling and asking if it will help him.

Its worthless if you don't register a complaint if you don't file with both the FCC & FTC.

I think it is related to the prescription drug plans and private medicare plans. I think the companies are selling the phone numbers of former customers. I have had a couple prescription drug plans because of a medical issue and believe that the companies sell the phones numbers after you switch to another plan. I find it highly suspicious these calls seem to start around the time I switched.
On top of these Medicare related calls, I have also received calls for credit cards, free alarm sytems, solar panels, & etc.

Posting here will not remove your number. You need to register a complaint with the FTC & the FCC.

there is a person that immediately starts talking as soon as I say hello. He says he was from medic alert  and my device was ready for delivery. I tried repeatedly to break in saying hold up a second I didn" order anything but he would not stoping talking. The only way to shut him up was to hang up. I am on the no call list.

I have Time Warner so I have a simple fix. The Time Warner website lets you BLOCK up to 30 numbers and also FORWARD up to 30 callers. I looked up this area code - Area code 646 is a New York City telephone area code for the borough of Manhattan, created July 1, 1999. Now, every time this number calls me I have it FORWARDED to the Manhattan Attorney General's office. Maybe THEY can stop these scammers! LoL

Just got a call from these pests. No message left...just the usual hangup. I love my caller ID..I just have the cradle to my answering machine handy...I check the number....and just delete, delete and delete. Of course, I am on the Do Not Call list. Wouldn't it be nice if the government checked up on THESE calls instead of checking Verizon's calls between decent citizens?

This call is for a medic alert claiming that a device was ready for delivery.  I told them I was not interested and do not call again.  They have called almost daily.  I wish I knew how to stop this short of finding the caller and trying to hurt them.

They're not real companies who are calling. They are "spoofing." Google it.

You just gave me an idea. Give them the home addresses and phone numbers of your representatives in both your state government and in D.C. I'll bet those people don't have secretaries to answer their phones at home.

I believe you're right. Someone is giving out Medicare names and numbers. Drug stores? Doctor's offices? Hospitals? People working in those places? Bug your congresspeople about this. It's a crime. A real crime. This needs publicity in order to stop it. Letters to newspapers will help get the word out. Creating groups that publicize the problem will help to stop it. I don't believe the majority of those running the scams are out of this country. That's just an effort to deflect attention from the US "citizens" who are perpetrating this rip-off. Enough of this--we need to get even and stop them. No one else is going to do it. Maybe if we get a big enough group and take donations to bribe some congresspeople, something will happen to jail these scammers. Meanwhile, we need to defend ourselves.

The DNC only works on honest and law-abiding people. Why would you expect thieves and weasels to honor the DNC list? Think about it. We need to come up with some revenge to punish those who do this harassment and thievery.

Called our 88 year old mother and wants to drop by with free medical alert garbage. Total scam praying on the elderly. Make sure that the elderly folks in your house DO NOT ANSWER the phone let it go to voice mail and most likely they will not leave a msg. If somebody answers the phone than these scumbag losers know that somebody is either home or lives there. These people should be in Jail!!

On 20 May 2013, at 1820 hours got a phone call they did not leave me a message.  Why do they place these pain in the a"" calls when I'm on the NO CALL LIST.  Why is the government not doing anything about these calls.

They can make money by placing fines on these companies.

Someone named John calls on a recorded message and claims that a relative has pre-paid for me to have a med alert service and they needed to set up appt. to get my free installation.  They called 3 times
already ...even though I pressed the number to decline this service.  I know it is a scam...but how do you stop it?

The call comes in weekly - John -with "free" medical alert.  I have told him to take my name off his list but obviously does not.  I am reporting this to see if I can get some relief from these calls.
