John 2011-06-06 20:53:38 Unknown
I got the same call on my sprint cell phone from the same number as above saying my wachovia card needs to be reactivated. Even tho I have a wachovia card, I knew they were phishing.

Got the same text as referenced by others in this thread. The Wachovia Check cards probably have thousands that start with 4828. I wonder if the number to call in New York has some sort of unathorized charging scheme that is going to show up on a phone bill sometime ... I would not even call it on a cell phone during the night or a weekend when the minutes are no charge.

This is the 2nd time in a week I have gotten this message. Wonder if there is a way I can block this number from texting me??? Gonna check out on Sprint web site and maybe call Sprint customer service.

I received this text this am also. Immediately reported to my cell carrier---Sprint. They advised me to UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE reply to or call this phone number. IT IS A SCAM. They are aware and are working hard at getting to the source. They advised me to forward text to:
abuse@messaging.sprintpcs.com.
IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY THING TO DO WITH YOUR WACHOVIA OR CELL CARRIER!! PLEAE CONTACT YOUR CELL CARRIER IF NOT SPRINT AND FIND OUT WHAT TO DO!!!

I also contacted the fraud section of alert.com's website informing them of the issue..
Lets hope that these stop

I received the same text message this evening. Since I do not have a Wachovia account I figured it was some sort of scam. Wouldn't it be nice if there was an all out effort, by the FBI, to go after these "easy money low lifes" and lock them up forever. Honest hard working people don't need this and do not deserve to even be subjected to this. I refuse to believe there is no technology in existance to root out these jack***es and lock them up. While they're at it, go after all the purveyours of phishing spyware and computer viruses that continue to ruin computer systems all over the Country and the world for that matter. We're exposed to this everyday and it is sent to millions of computers each and every hour. Am I the only one that has ever wondered why the Federal Government has not set examples by capturing these jerks, publicizing an arrest, trying them in a court of law, holding them responsible, getting a conviction and putting them in prison? God only knows how much money and headaches they cause each minute of our lives. I'd love to watch a Court TV of a trial putting one of these malcontents in prison.

I got that text last night. I thought it was suspect as any banking institution worth it's charter would contact a customer if there is suspected fraud on their account. Please do not call this number back if any doubts exist contact your banking instituion directly at a reputable number. Hell even go into the branch.
CJ 2011-06-06 20:53:38 Unknown

Got a call from 646 755 6212 saying my acct was limited, whatever that means. The subject line of the text message even said [SPAM]. I don't even have a Wachovia acct. What a**holes.
Paulie 2011-06-06 20:53:38 Unknown
I tried to call back and they have a automated operator asking for your 16 digit card #. I do not even bank with Wachovia. I do BOA. So I was up for a laugh. Unfortunately you cannot even get past the operator without a 16 digit card number. If any of you guys out there call a number that was text to you and not the # that is on the back of your card and you give your 16 digit card # then you almost deserve it. Almost because nobody deserves to be ripped off. Even if you are a dumb a**.

I got a text message this morning letting me know there was a "customer issue, wachovia service frozen. please call at 646 383 8888" I googled the number and found these comments. I'm glad I didn't call. I'll probably call my provider, though, to make them aware of this scam.
